- We can’t talk about WW2 without mentioning tanks, the first time tanks were used extensively for the first time. All shapes and sizes, one of the game changes during this War to end all wars. Film makers caught on to the tank and featured them in several war movies. Today we will talk about some examples of the better known ones.

Memorable films all!
Likely the most famous incident about a tank in WWII involved Audie Murphy's real-life stand (for which he received the Medal of Honor) portrayed in his biopic To Hell and Back. The film shows him staying behind alone to call in artillery fire on advancing German forces, beating back a fierce German attack with just a .50 caliber machine gun while on an abandoned and burning M4 Sherman (though IRL it was an M10 tank destroyer). That's True Grit!
War Is Hell
Audie Murphy is bulletproof legend.
@@ThomasGidley-kv2uj Sadly not plane proof....
Is there anything he can't do?
Raising that giant bore at you while tank is still doesn't even give you time for a short prayer.
The Tanks Are Coming (1951). A "Not bad, Not Great Movie". Memorable for the Character Heinrich 'Heinie' Weinburger a German American immigrant played by Robert Boon.
Thanks for that!
A fun little movie.
Mark felton recently did a video about tiger tank 114. In the movie kelly's heroes they have tigers 112, 113, 115.
As for that other movie, gi joe taking out a platoon of tiger tanks with only a tommy gun and dirty socks is comical 🤣
Thanks! See my other character actors videos on my channel, he is in there.
Awesome video!!! Have seen all these movies at least a dozen or more times throughout my 60+ years of wandering around aimlessly on this planet!!!!
Glad you liked the video, cheers!
Very few movies very few movies actually show you how vulnerable tanks are, especially without infantry with them. If you've ever been in a World War II tank you'd realise that you can see bugger all out of the vision slits.
Combat ! S1, Ep3,
'Lost sheep, lost shepherd'
(1962)
There were several "Combat" episodes featuring tank combat. By far and away, the best WWII series that was ever on television
I still binge watch it when I can. Don't care for the color years, black and white gave it more grit and realism.

As a kid I would sneak up late at night to watch Combat!. Sergeant Saunders was my hero. The show was by far the best WW2 TV series ever, IMO. As far as the 5th season in color, there's one particular episode that's very memorable, 'The Gun'.
Glad you're also a fan of this awesome show.
Great work, Wrangler! Looking forward to volume 2 with Iron Cross, Tobruk, the Desert Rats...
Cheers, in the mean time take a look at my video on Sam Peckinpah movies for Iron Cross on my channel
