    Guy Pearce (as did Hugh Jackman) also appeared in the 90s Aussie TV western show, 'Snowy River: The McGregor Saga. He's also a pretty cool singer/musician.

    Ben Foster is an amazing performer and steals scenes in whatever project he’s in. Guy Pearce is an actor like Ben Foster who demands attention whenever he’s on screen.

    The Quick and the Dead sprouted a few new faces to westerns.

      Even though Herod capped 'Ace' in their showdown, I enjoyed the short lived role of Lance Henriksen.

      'Man's Best Friend'........1993
      However, my favorite Henriksen movie is 'Stone Cold'. 1991. His portrayal as Chains Cooper is awesome.

    I agree about In A Valley of Violence co starring John Travolta and Theresa Farmega and Salma Hayek. But you should have done this on two parts. One before 1960 others after. Why? You are overlooking great actors of the past who people do not identify with westerns. Here are a few;
    1: Clark Gable. 2: Errol Flynn 3: Van Heflin. 4: Edmond O’Brien. 5: Walter Huston. 6: Karl Malden. 7: Edward G. Robinson. 8: William Holden. 9: Ernest Borgnine. 10: Anthony Quinn. In fact all of these men were Oscar winners except Flynn and Robinson.

    Three obvious modern day actors you overlooked: Tom Selleck, Gene Hackman.and Robert Redford. None are identified with the Western but should ( especially Hackman).

      🤔.... I'd say Selleck more than Hackman.

    I thought 'In The Valley Of Violence' was a very good western. It was the best I'd seen in a long stretch. Ethen Hawke was very good in this, and actually so was John Travolta. James Ransone was outstanding as the town's troublemaking son of the difficult marshall.

      Ransome was an all time bad guy killing the dog, then his father. Not quite Frank from Once Upon A Time In The West ( who I consider the most evil character in western history), but he might be worse then say the better known Liberty Valance. Why? because he is cold and sadistic, while Valance is insane and sadistic. That in my opinion makes him worse.

      BTW....I think my pic for the most evil character in western movie history is 'Long Hair' (Asa) in The Cowboys. Bruce Dern absolutely solidified that title.

    • @davidbrown386
      @davidbrown386 Před měsícem

      Dern was bad but the only fictional characters that could top Frank were oddly enough another Frank against Charles Bronson in The Evil That Men Do and Barney ( Jeff Bridges) in The Vanishing. He killed Sandra Bullock and tortured Kruger Sutherland with it, just to prove he could do evil and the mother in the Hawaii 5-0 episode One Big Happy Family ) with Slim Pickens as her history). This family killed over 150 people.

      Another evil character in western movie history is 'Red Jack'. He was the fanatic leader of a gang that was on a mission to kill in the 1988 western 'The Tracker'. Played by Scott Wilson, he would kill almost anybody he and his gang encountered, often for no reason at all. Hunted down by an Arizona rancher (Kris Kristofferson) and his son, this movie never got the credit it deserved and it's definitely my favorite Kristofferson movie in his performance as the legendary tracker 'Noble Adams'.
