Visiting The Village of Kish & its Mysterious Church 🇦🇿 Azerbaijan Travel
On my last day in sheki I decided to visit a local village so I found a series of rickety old marshrutkas to take me there and visit the famous Albanian temple (Caucasian Albania - a historic state in this region, no relationship to Balkan Albania) I enjoyed the rawness of the village and the scenery, and also got my sunset view at the end of the day followed by some delicious food 😊

Exploring Sheki, Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 Beautiful Scenery & Trying Local Foods
zhlédnutí 90Před 2 hodinami
I wanted to try and spend as little money as possible after a somewhat expensive first day in sheki, so I decided to try and find some free things to do. I found an interesting monument, beautiful scenery and a free museum. I also wanted to try a very traditional local dish which was a really interesting experience. 🐭🐭🐭 Links: Instagram - pokie.mouse?igsh=YTN4Y3U1MzV5OGJi& Want to...
Beautiful SHEKI 🇦🇿 Azerbaijan's Historic Mountain Town
zhlédnutí 122Před 7 hodinami
I love scenic mountain towns, so when I heard about Sheki I knew I had to go there. it's a 6hour bus ride from Baku, and there's so much to see there including the unesco world heritage site - sheki fortress. In this video I take myself on a little tour of a few of the historic sights! More to come from Sheki very soon :) 🐭🐭🐭 Links: Instagram - pokie.mouse?igsh=YTN4Y3U1MzV5OGJi& W...
A 15th Century Palace ~ Sightseeing in Baku 🇦🇿
zhlédnutí 93Před dnem
I headed back to baku a day earlier than I planned but I was happy about it because it meant I could check out some of the sights I missed out last time, such as the palace of the shirvanshahs and the bibiheybat mosque. 🐭🐭🐭 Links: Instagram - pokie.mouse?igsh=YTN4Y3U1MzV5OGJi& Want to support my channel? www.buymeacoffee.com/Madmousetales 🐭🐭🐭 I’m nimi, a solo traveller from the UK...
Quba & The Red Village, A Historic Jewish Settlement 🇦🇿
zhlédnutí 122Před 14 dny
I took a minibus from baku to quba because I wanted to visit the historic "Red Village" - said to be one of the worlds only exclusively jewish settlements. I learnt about the history of the mountain jews in the area via the awesome museum there. You can visit this place via a day trip from Baku so I would recommend doing that. 🐭🐭🐭 Links: Instagram - pokie.mouse?igsh=YTN4Y3U1MzV5OG...
Why Azerbaijan is Known As The “Land of Fire" 🔥 🇦🇿
zhlédnutí 114Před 14 dny
Azerbaijan has long been dubbed the land of fire - and I wanted to find out why. The country’s history with this concept dates back more than 3000 years to the time when Zoroastrianism was prevalent here. The country sits on huge reserves of oil and gas too, creating naturally burning fires , around which temples were built. In this video I visit a Zoroastrian temple and a burning mountain 🔥 🐭🐭...

First Impressions of Baku, Azerbaijan 🇦🇿

After my little visa mishap I finally arrived in Baku. I'd heard that the city was a really interesting contrast of old and new, and in this video I wanted to show you guys as much as possible. First of all I headed to the old town to see some of the historic sights, and then afterwards I went to an amazing viewpoint to see the city from above. 🐭🐭🐭 Links: Instagram - pokie.mouse?i...

I suspect any sugar you have is burnt off pretty well with all the walking you are doing. At times the places you visit (certainly at the start of this video) look like ghost towns... I assume everyone is at work?
I think some of the places I’ve been lately it’s been very hot and people tend to come out later in the day / evening when it’s cooler. But I guess I’m attracted to quieter places too 😊
Thanks for that though I suspect I gained weight just by watching you try that sweetie. Although I suppose if you're constantly walking up and down hills in a place like Sheki; you'll burn some of the calories off. Safe journey, my dear, safe journey!
Haha it was waaaay too much! Couldn’t finish it, and I’m a fan of cakes and sweets as you know 😂
Thanks for taking us along. The food looks good! and the stained glass was amazing but I did find some of the museum rooms overly-busy for my pedestrian tastes. 😇
The food there was so good! In Baku it was actually a bit difficult to find a healthy / good meal 😂
So many interesting places. Lots of roses in the gardens. Are they scented? 🙂
Yes they were smelling so nice! Wish smellevision was a thing 😆
Azerbaycan weki ❤❤❤❤
Really like your videos, I find them relaxing. Being from Waterlooville, It was nice to see your Hampshire videos and there's still loads more stuff to see
Ahh I’m so glad to hear that, thanks so much! ❤
Another interesting vlog from you. Thank you for sharing! Greetings from London xx
Thank you 😊 glad u liked it!!❤
It is safe and better to stay away from any Islamic countries
Thanks for sharing! It looks very clean and modern. Greetings from London xx
Thanks for watching 😊glad you enjoyed it!!
@@madmousetales thanks for sharing. Please report the incident in Quba to the Azerbaijani police. They will find him in 5 min. It is a secure country for women, and he cannot spoil your trip. He should be punished by law.
Denizli'ye geldiginizi bilseydim sizi misafir ederim. Görmediginiz cok yer var.
Sheik is definitely delightful!
It is indeed! ❤
We l watch your new video later mad mouse nice to see you again foraging for blackberries chicken in the woods hops and garlic at mo in sherwood. All best to you you young lady
Ahh foraging sounds wonderful enjoy!!
Love these gardens!
Thank you for showing us this really nice village. I’m staying in the area and have been looking for somewhere to go for a day trip. This is perfect for me. A bit of nature, a bit of history, a bit of rural life, very relaxing and doesn’t look full of tourists.
Nice👍🇦🇿
What an amazing place! The theatre ruins looked almost complete. I can imagine the audience watching Europides plays there ❤
❤❤❤❤

Some lovely architecture and greenery, it looks very nice. Such a great experience traveling to all these places, well done.
gosh i hope you are ok
Yeah I am all good 😊 I think I handled it all ok! 😊
Another wonderful tour Nimi, thank you.. So sorry to hear of another unwanted experience. Sending positive thoughts for the rest of your travels
Thank you so much ❤
Keep safe you young lady. Come back to England. Ta mate
Thank you ❤ ❤
I well remember travelling as a young woman and all the unwanted *ahem* attention from random men (I can think of other words I’d use). I’m very sorry that the world hasn’t changed much in the last 40 years! You are so good at changing your plans and making good choices for yourself. I also like how you are able see the positive things about the places you visit
Unfortunately I think there are gonna be weirdos in every country, but I think I did a bit better at keeping myself safe this time 😊 thank you so much for watching ❤
With the fish gently scrape the flesh away with a fork checking for bones before you gob it. Beautiful detailing on the architecture Nimi. Good move to relocate eh!
Before you gob it 😂 thanks for the tip I will keep in mind for next time! 😊
Shame about your experience with the creep in the hostel in Quba. May his parts wither! Lovely tour today though and I much enjoyed it; except for seeing the poor little kitten that you were kind to...
I'll have to send this to my Jewish friends; might be an aspect of their international community that they are unaware of. It was news to me though I did know that there was a country in that general area in the early middle ages in which the aristocracy were Jewish [the Khazar State]. Their descendants seem to have survived in the Red Village.
Oh gosh, I am so sorry you had another bad experience Nimi; you did right to get out of there and back to where you know. A lovely tour around Baku. The palace was super interesting and the artist's workshop looked so cool with all those weird and wonderful oddities. I'm always wary ordering fish because tackling bones is not my cup of tea. It's good to experiment with different things then you know for next time ;-) Thank you for sharing this with us Nimi and we're looking forward to the next one 🥰
Really glad you enjoyed seeing it Lynn ❤ and yes I think next time I order a fish I’ll try to get a fillet 😂 it’s quite hard work 😂

The cats melted my heart! ❤ Thank you for sharing your travels xxx
Thank you. In what sometimes appears to be a rapidly disintegrating world your videos are welcome peaceful contribution to sanity.
Aw thank you so much. I am glad you enjoy them! I know what you mean about how the world feels right now tho!
Baku does look like a lovely city!
It’s a great place!
Sorry you didn't have a great experience in the last place... but then you got time with lovely kitty cats :D That art place looked fascinating. Lovely remote tour guide experience as always, thank you!
The kitties made up for it for sure!! 🐱
So much history in these countries, really interesting. Thank you for taking us with you ❤ the visuals in the museums are so well done 🥰
Yess so much and also history I haven’t learnt much about till now 😊 glad you found it interesting ❤😊 ❤
Lovely video again Nimi and an interesting place. We hardly saw any people, it looked so quiet there. A lovely museum, such interesting things there. You are making some memorable moments to treasure. Thank you for sharing. Take care ❤
It was very quiet and peaceful, the town over the bridge is a different story 😂 glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching ❤❤
Did not see many people out on the streets in the village am wondering if it’s a declining population
Did not see any info about that but I wonder!
so cool, look out for youtuber Gabriel Traveler he is in Turkey, you may bump into him. though I thought you were closer but I got it wrong. He checked to see where you were on your channel, said you weren't near him .. sorry my geography a bit off. x
Quite a contrast in those neighbourhoods. Some lovely looking streets (the gutters are a bit interesting, bit of a tripping hazard if you're not paying attention). Lovely tour as always, thank you!
Stick with Magic Mushrooms.....less of a hazard
Funny you should say that, I literally tripped over a similar hazard a couple of hours ago 😂
3:25 is this Jewish music? Sounds nice
@@meryuk I don’t think so , just thought it worked well ☺️
@@madmousetales😊👍
@@madmousetales Very close though
Keep up good work young lady as always. Best wishes ❤️
Thank you so much!!❤
Great visually and marvellous music in the old temple segment. thank you Nimi
Ahh I am really glad you think so!! Thankyou so much ❤
A lovely exploration of culture and the lands. It's interesting to think how a landscape can shape a peoples... clearly the land here is very devoid of trees and a lot more open... something that has no doubt changed over the centuries.
Yep you’re right , it’s very interesting 😁 there are parts of the country (like the place I am in now) that are very green and mountainous so it’s quite diverse 😊
i was really surprised to see it's such a modern and clean country
Probably the most modern and clean country I’ve been to in a long time!
Did you get a sense that there was still a large community of modern Zorastrians; intolerant Muslims often classify such people as pagans and they have been persecuted at times in places like Iran?
I believe there is still a community - and I also heard that the religion is gaining traction again elsewhere!
Thank you Nimi, another great tour
Thank you 😊 glad u enjoyed!
That meal at the end looks really nice. Azerbaijan seems such an interesting place - the architecture in your last video also very impressive. 😄
Ah the pide, so good! You just try it if you ever find yourself in a Turkish/etc restaurant 😊
wow thank you fascinating
Glad you enjoyed it 😊❤
Now that's a modern museum; you can tell that the country is flush with petro-dollars! On the other hand, the modern art you showed us left me wanting to see more of those rugs. I seem to remember that one of the countries that produced that type of stunning hand-made rugs classified them partly based on how many years it took the creators to hand-stitch [hand-loom?] them. Maybe I'm wrong; my old memory ain't what it used to be... now what was I saying? 🙂
Ahh sorry , maybe I should have gone into the carpet museum, if you’re interested in them!! They are fascinatingly intricate ❤
Hope it continues to be a warm and friendly place. The old city looked wonderful.
It was a wonderful place to visit, ended up going back again 😊
