this channel is about helping people learn to play guitar, Am I the best no, but I have spent many years playing and would like to help people learn the basics of guitar playing and basic theory. In 2009 I was in an accident that left me Paralyzed from the waist down, if I can play guitar with a disability, many people can learn to play with or without a disability. All guitar parts are recorded with EMG 81 in the BRIDGE position. I don't say much about being injured because it's not about me it's about helping other people learn to play or simply enjoy watching people play.

It’s so amazing to see what you do with passion and a great knowledge of it all. People think music is just that but seeing All that goes into it is so much more. I’m so proud of what you have done with your life!❤
thank you Debra, have a great day...
I'm kinder getting the hang of it
I've been doing the exercise from the last speed & accuracy video for about 2 weeks now and I feel like I've improved a lot. I was having trouble with the solo from Good Times Bad Times where he plays that fast ascending and descending scale line, but now I think I can almost do it at the same speed as Jimmy Page. Thank you so much for this channel, it's a gold mine!
What is the pattern for that exercise please? You may have already mentioned it - thanks
the basic pattern is in E minor 12/13/15 B string 12/14/15 E string then I do examples in dorian, Phrygian, lydian Aeolian /E MINOR
@ronwilliams36 once you know the modes all the way through all 6 strings from G to G you will clearly see all the little phrases I am doing and you will be able to identify the mode it is in. I move around a lot but they are all in the same key G major / Eminor.
yes I’ve been learning the modes for a couple of months- I can go through them slow - needy to do more metronome work- I’m having trouble with the ones with the big stretch - I like to use my ring finger for the big stretch but my teacher says it would be better to use my middle finger- thanks for the info.
Depends on hand size and what is more comfortable I use my ring finger so index 3 ring 5 pinky 7 When you are ripping around 17/19/20/21/22/23/24 frets you may change it up bc frets are closer
Can you show more great stuff? Love it
sure, I put up so much stuff that people need to learn. I will put out another soon. thanks for watching !
How long should I do this? I want to get better than I am
I would say at least 15 minutes a day with a metronome, the hardest part is knowing where to play and what Key you are in.these examples are mostly G major with the relative minor being e G MAJOR/ e minor
What mode is that ?
So it is the last six notes in each mode Starting in locrian Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian , mixolydian, aeolian then your back to locrian at 15/17/19 in the key of Gmajor e minor It may seem confusing because I’m starting with the 1/2 diminished locrian mode Please subscribe, music has no rules Mr. Williams that’s why you can try different things if it sounds good it is good @ronwilliams36
Usually the modes are in this order Ionian, dorian, Phrygian, lydian , mixolydian, aeolian, then locrian, hopefully I answered your question.
@@SK43853 yes it did - my guitar teacher was having me switch between modes on the bottom string kinda like you were doing. Good info - thanks
IMO it's best to learn the modes from G to G on the low E String, because you can see all the notes visually other keys will have open strings. take a look at a few other videos and you'll see what I mean thanks..
Most if my learning has come from years of playing but if I could suggest 1 player to follow and even join his academy it would be KIKO LOUREIRO, I did an 9 hour workshop with him, he’s that good😊
Happy to have found your channel so early , great tutorial man keep it up 🔥🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thank you, I have more content but I don’t want to put out so much that people don’t listen. A lot of these lessons are based off of my struggle’s 🤘🏻🤘🏻😊😊
You were already born with the strongest hands…
I agree I have bigger and stronger hands genetics… have a good day, please subscribe
turn up a bit?
Hi Steve, That's a really cool and musical exercise to build speed.
Hey Vic thanks a lot, if you do it on your PRS most likely the notes will ring out better, my action is super low which leads to less sustain. That exercise will really help your hand strength, you most likely heard me play it super loud when I was living next door. 😊
C Lydian, D Mixolydian and E Aeolian are literally the same 7 notes. They all work over the C chord and technically it’s all C Lydian because of the context. Not hating man I swear, just thought I’d help out a bit.
in the key of Gmajor/ E minor you would think that all the modes would sound great but sometimes the chord doesn't sound very good when playing all 7 notes , thank you for sharing your knowledge, every shape has the same 7 notes G/A/B/C/D/E/F#. are the notes in Gmaj/e minor, thank you I appreciate it, Have great day. I added you thanks again!!
your channel is great, videos all are good. you play very well with lots of melody!!! have a great day, thank you for sharing your knowledge I appreciate it.
@@SK43853 thanks man! Have a great day as well and keep shredding! I appreciate the kind words!
Thanks sir , for this lesson. I am really sloppy in alternate speed picking 😂 i think this will help me to build up the speed. God bless you .
thank you for watching. have a good day please subscribe !!
Great channel keep the videos coming. Happy to hear it's bringing you joy. I liked this exercise a lot, felt like I built some speed just today
thanks have a good weekend!!
Im going to buy some video equipment soon..
I watch a lot of guitar content and one thing I like about yours is they aren't long winded. You get right to teaching. Anything over 10 minutes loses me, I'm a get to the point person. I like that you called out the frets on this one, it's tough to sometimes see what frets people are playing. I'm Ted by the way. I live in Ohio. Good luck with the video equipment!
@@mazzetti8667 hi Ted nice to meet you, check out the one I did tonight I edited done to 6/7 minutes but it’s good for soloing over Diads and triads. it's 6 :47 minutes its pretty good. thanks. again.
Great lesson, subbed, going to sound good on the Jimmy page telecaster
Thanks I added you too, , it will sound really good on a telecaster. Have a good night !!

Hey man, I really like your style, it would be really cool for us to hear and see this in a best version, I hope you can get the funds to improve your equipment because you deserve to be heard brother, I Love your style ⭐⭐⭐⚡⚡⚡ From Art by Gonzo,
thank you, my style is from years of playing and watching other players with some lessons here and there, have great day.
damn bro i wanna get you a better mic and webcam , this is good knowledge here. let's get you some more subs!
thank you I need to find out what to buy never have done this before. thanks again
@@SK43853 I recommend getting a better DSLR or mirrorless camera like the canon EOS series and using the usb mode to use that as a webcam, and a stienberg UR22 audio interface. Your guitar tone sounds killer so I’m sure you know how to get that in tone, then for the voiceover mic use a random condenser mic like the ones Mackie makes
@@fenixlolnope361 thank you I’ll look into this stuff the fact I’m 53 and have never done this I appreciate your input😊🤘🏻
Really interesting that this popped in my youtube. My son and I are dorking around with this mode, trying to write an instrumental song, using F# Locrian. We are trying to write something alternating 7/8 and 5/8 time signatures, with the chorus in G Ionian 4/4 time. It is not going too well (we are not good at writing songs), but we have not given up yet. He plays drums, and I play guitar. This is really helpful! Thank You!
Just so you know when I played the example I played F diminished not F# my mistake so at the end of the video I show how I go from locrian/Ionian/Dorian and then play E minor chord. I’m a rocker but try doing a 2/3 peddle tone and then bring in the minor chord followed by Diminished chord So in the example I play 6 minor scale notes 6 major scale notes and 6 diminished scale notes it’s very important to never land on a note that isn’t the 3/5 because the they both really highlights the chord the 5 reinforces the Tonic ..
I’m Steve too Steve Kennedy please subscribe and thank you for the feedback I appreciate it. Have great day. so as I say often if it sounds good it is good like ingwie malmsteen says! So if you play a chord that may not be in that chord progression that’s ok as long as it fits and sounds good
If you don’t understand the modes try to watch these videos I break them down pretty good for players at any level.
@@SK43853 Thank you! I have subscribed! I will watch the video on ear training with the key of D major later today!
You’ll like that video I break down how to find the key of a song And that every major key has a minor key associated with it hence G major/ E minor G/A/B/C/D/E at the 6 th degree

Thank you so much Sir for your help. I was born and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas so I love the shirt behind you although I am not a football fan. You have some great guitar tips. I appreciate you greatly.

I really like your tone, I know the PUPS are EMG but what amp are you using?
I use EMG 81 only 18 v power to it. neck p/u unhooked/ I use a VHT 2/90/2 TUBE POWER AMP AXE FX III RED MODERN ...MESA BOOGIE channel monster 2500 surge protector 2- 4x12 1960 a marshall cabinets I think most likely you’re hearing the fact I have 2- 4x12 cabinets going Gives a very full sound. the acoustics I get from running 2 cabs is amazing.
That's a lot of speakers! Surprised your aren't deaf, haha. I have an AXE FX III, I like that Mesa setting a lot too. The 5153 Red FX is my favorite setting.
check out the end of my last video I show all my equipment.
great run thru, maybe I need a 4x12. just using a 1x12 now but have been happy with it...
@@mazzetti8667 that’s fine, I just like the full surround sound effects. like I said in the video I’m fortunate that I have all the equipment I like. The main reason why I use the 4x12 cabs is because I have the 2 channel power amp the has an A and B so each side of power amp runs I cab But if you only have 20/35 amp gear It doesn’t make much sense to have a 4x 12 cab
Great lesson, thanks so much!
you're welcome, have a good night!

Hi Steve! Lots to un pack here, Im saving this video for deeper study later, tomorrow most likely. Do different modes evoke certain moods...or feelings? Hope you were able to enjoy todays eclipse, I sure did! Take care and keep posting !!!
I edited the one I just did on mixolydian. Thank you for watching it! yes they do evoke moods darker LOCRIAN or lighter LYDIAN. the major modes have major chords happier the minor modes have minor chords sadder. I did get to see a little bit of it .
Hey @dufusbug I uploaded the original Try to watch all of it because I show examples of how the mode matches the chord And I also play in a minor mode and you can hear examples of why it’s best to not solo over a major chord with a minor mode vise versus a major chord over minor mode…enjoy I really hope this helps you guys out
Nice work
thank you , please subscribe, have a good day!!!
The Perfect Intervals: 4, 5, octave Major/Minor Intervals: 2, 3, 6, 7 So if the scale has diminished 2, 3, 6, or 7; should the chord follow? Ex .We take C Major, then diminish the 6th scale degree (A -> A flat). Now when we play chord progressions, the 6th degree chord (now A-flat) should be played as A-flat minor? ^^^ hope my use of nomenclature is corrent to understand the question Thanks again
that sounds correct as long as all the other chords fall in line with W/W/H/W/W/W/H. hope that helps usually the 7th is the only diminished chord in a Major chord progression.that would be a very sad sounding chord progression. So here’s the deal you could just change that one chord only and see if you like the diminished chord better. It may not be correct theory wise but if you like it than keep it. if any of my subscribers know different please share your knowledge. thanks Steve
thank you very helpful
you're welcome.. I will be adding the rest of the modes soon, so they will all be laid out in the key of G major/E minor.. please subscribe.

I've been playing one of the other arpeggios you showed earlier, the one that's E 7 10 7 B. 8 8 G 7 7 I play that 2 or 4 times, then I move up 5 frets, then back down to 7. It's been helping a lot. I can play it much quicker without a pic though because I use my fingers

and about being stuck at intermediate level that can change easily with chord knowledge, but its hard bc most rock is in Gmaj/ Eminor or C maj/ A /minor. some in D or B. so its easy to get locked into the first two keys I mentioned. take a stab an E harmonic minor has the raised 7th. sounds very Egyptian style. have a good night.

@@vintagemxiron8390 right on , you can also get harmonics by picking a certain way, a lot of older guitar players do it when they bend 1/2 or full step. It adds to a feel to a solo Sometimes you may do it by accident.😊
