I have watched a few times of this video. I can't get answer how seam allowance works in this pattern draft. On the upper side, it seems all seam allowances were merged into the calculation. There was no explain for the lower part. Also, it does not have a straight answer how seam allowance works in the zipper area. So, I wish there could be more explanation. However, I really like this video, very easy to understand for beginner, because it explains with details how pants pattern design to work with human body. Thanks.
My back panel is around 1.125 inch longer than the front in the inseam. Any tips? P.s amazing video!!
That was excellent thank you!
🤠🙏🏻
You nearly gave me a heart attack pointing those enormous shears at yourself! 😂 Great tip, thank you for sharing - if I may add to it, using an unbent paperclip can help with the fiddly job of pulling the zipper tab past the foot!
That's a great additional tip indeed. Thanks for sharing.
Good visuals and explanations. Well done. :)
Thank you. 🙏🏻
good for marking buttonholes also....
as im finishing my collection for my masters degree in fashion, i love how there's always knowledge and more to learn, the altering part of the video so nicely explained and logical (way better than what i had in 5 years in school), thank you <3
Oh wonderful, I'm glad to hear you appreciate my approach. Best wishes in finishing your masters.
Beautiful! One thing you might have missed (or not, but didn't show in this video) is I highly recommend a zigzag bartack (or two) at the bottom of the fly - that's a very high stress area when the fly is open. You can do it visible or invisible, or both. On jeans they typically bartack the fly piece to the front about 1.5 inches from the edge for extra strength as this prevents the fly from opening too far.
You bring up a great detail. Thank you for sharing in the comments here.
You have a gift of taking concepts and breaking the theory down to it's most basic elements. Very easy to grasp! And you add humour which is awesome!
Oh wonderful, I'm glad to hear my approach works for you. Thank you for your support!
I've been using your videos to make my grandson a shirt. So hard to find good shirt fabric.
Indeed, it can be difficult to find nice fabrics. Happy sewing.
is it possible to upsize pants or shirts that are too small?
No, but the other way around is more feasible.
Never stop doing what your doing. You’re a blessing 🤍
Thank you for the support and motivation.
Singer has a manufacturing list for their sewing machines on their site. So if you ave the model number one can see and find out the year it was made. ❤🎉
Oh nice, that's good to know!
Could you please do a video on how to make a drop front fly ? Like pants fom 1700s. I've noticed the Amish men in nearby rural towns wear homesewn Drop Front Fly Bluejeans.
Thank you for the suggestion. I will consider it for a future video.
I am an off the wall visual learner and I LOVE THIS!
Then my work here is done :)
Unique and awesome way of explanation. Much needed for beginners like me. Hope you share more on female skirts and shirts. Sending you God's blessings and happy vibes from India. 😊🎉
I'm glad to hear it. Yes, I plan to do more of these.
Hahaha i was free balling pattern making for months, honestly looked into this because I was bored an now I know how to do this perfectly thanks to you. thank you very much 2 years later still helpful
oh nice, I'm glad to hear it.
BEAUTIFUL......
🤠🙏🏻
querido, no sabes absolutamente nada acerca de Dios y mucho menos de los católicos. Lee la vida de san Francisco de Asís. Bendiciones desde Argentina
Now, I can fix my sleep sac pattern under the arms. Not using the 90°rule was the problem.
I am glad to hear that my video was of use to you.
Dritz has the little metal tensioner in the plastic slider, my other one from Temu does not and its sloppy loose, unusable really. Crap
😂😂😂😂
You made something complicated so simple that a five-year old can understand it. Thank you!!!!
A compliment of the highest order, thank you.
I already have a tailor's ham. But I really could use a tailor's sausage. I'm going to use your pattern and sew one up. 🙂
Oh nice, I hope yours turns out well.
Searched patents? All you needed to do was ask a Home Ec teacher or a woman who sews. It's a skirt hemmer. Good God, this isn't that hard.
That looks amazing! Great work. You'd have seen me in a lopsided , wrinkled coat because i do not possess the same patience and follow through you seem to 🤣🤣. The end result was fantastic though
You are kind, thank you and thanks for watching!
Use tailors chalk and learn to mark a crows foot.
Voila
Man you just enlightened me
I'm glad to hear it.
Amazing my brother i love you
Thank you. 🙏🏻
this + overcast foot is elite
Good to know!
I discovered male, ball-jointed dolls in 2006. I also found Masaaki Kawashima's flat pattern books. I have been sewing clothes for dolls in 1/6, 1/4, and 1/3 scales for the last eighteen years. You are very good at explaining what goes wrong and how to fix it. Love the content
Oh nice. I'm glad to hear I'm able to offer some tidbits to your wealth of knowledge.
my front inside leg measures 39.5 and the front outside 39 the back inside 41.25 and back outside 38.6... what gives?? i have followed this video 4 times now i think, same problem... im not sure what to do or why this has happened
May try getting a pattern off of freesewing.org then?
@@CorneliusQuiring okay... do you know what may have gone wrong though? I'm very interested in learning rather than forgetting about it..
@@CorneliusQuiring i freehanded the parts you use a french curve because i do not have one, is this the problem?
Thank you
I have one in every drawer of my sewing room and also in my kitchen. Reliable old friend
I had no idea! Mind blown!
:)
I've lost a bunch of weight and this helps me in the question of making my collection of shirts fit again, even better than new if I do a good job.
Indeed. You got this!
You look like my husband size. He’s 34” waist by 32” length. Do you have a pdf pattern download? So I can follow sew along.
I do not, unfortunately.
Raise your hand if your grandparents had the closet full of wrapping paper 🖐️
No need to ever get more :)
You are the best. Everything you explain is broken down so beautifully.
🤠🙏🏻
Great tutorial ❤! Im a new subbie. Can’t wait to watch more of your videos!
I'm happy to have you on board!
bless you for this! I didn't want to get a presser foot attachment for buttons and I had a hunch I could get around by doing something like this but this really helped nail down the details and avoid unnecessary mistakes!!!💛💛 quick and to the point, love it!!!
I'm glad to hear it. You got this!
You have a rather unique name but your videos are awesome! You explained this simply and so well!!
Thank you. 🙏🏻
Why did you need to open the bobin plate?
Because there's a little hook that goes under the plate for extra hold.
@@CorneliusQuiring ok, thank you. Couldn't see that hook.
I'm getting my first sewing machine & because of you I'm actually feeling confident enough to get going!
That's awesome. I'm glad to hear it. You got this.
I am 4'9" and have large bones. I have struggled with my weight all my life. I have always had child like features. People have never treated me with much respect. I have always been treated like some sort of mascot in my peer groups. I can so relate to your emotional stages you have gone through. I am old now, and I think I have accepted it. But, occasionally I find a friend that I think they are treating me like normal and I get lulled into a sense of trust, only to be heartbroken when we are all around other people and they distance themselves from me....and there I am again....a mascot....... thank you for your video. You show me that I am not the only one out there that has experienced emotional trauma with things that have happened to them or are not at all in their control. Cudos for what must be such a difficult reveal for you! This really can help alot of people out there. Thank You!
Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing a bit about yourself, in the comments here. That too, is brave. I wish you peace and strength. Thank you for watching as well.
Maybe try just a single pleat?
Good call.
Thank you I enjoyed that 😊
🤠🙏🏻
Very clever.
