Best thing to do is just get 3-4 brand new chains, mineral spirits and denatured alcohol them all, and wax them. Every 200-300 miles, take off current waxed chain, throw a new one on. Saves your drive train some serious wear and tear. Rewaxing once you've cycled through them all is super easy. Throw them in some boiling water, dry them, wax. Just started waxing my mtb chains and loving how clean the chain is after rides. Makes maintenance very easy.

Michael, I struggled with much of the same and it was a challenge to find a balance between my tri stuff and gym stuff. After spending $$$, I learned less is more. I’ve got a modest set-up but any weight training is limited to TRX and kettlebells. This has been crucial in injury avoidance! Nowadays, my rogue weights and benches are more for staging my water bottles😂. One thing I strongly recommend is an IR sauna. After hours on the bike or treadmill/road, 30 minutes in the sauna is great for recovery.

I run on back country roads. Little traffic but higher speeds. I always run with traffic ONLY because I use my ears to listen for cars coming behind. If you know what you are listening for a car slowing down is easy to distinguish. The car notices you and is slowing down. If I don’t hear the slowing down then I look behind to quickly decide if I need to jump off the road lol. Has never happened to me but I’m thinking about it always. So cars that are passing you in the opposite lane don’t always slow down. THOSE are the cars I want to see…… DONT WEAR HEADPHONES WHILE RUNNING WITH CARS!!!…..WEAR BRIGHT COLORS!!! BE SAFE!!!

From someone that has zero experience in crits, but sees a lot of this kinds of videos, I think you burned a few matches very early in the race, going off the front alone, and trying to hang on to the front group. Also, as a begginer un crits you should probably start in cat 5, learn the technique and strategy of crits, and only the move to cat 4, even if you have the fitness right now. Anyway, congrats for the race, and bring more of these videos to the channel
