Is it normal to commute with other than your own airline? I guess your airline books and pays all those of course? Do you get the mileage? Even tho I guess you fly quite cheap on your own airline for vacation etc?

Sorry for the buzz kill but flying is a miserable experience starting from the traffic getting to the airport, long lines at TSA checkpoints, and getting packed like sardines in fully booked flights. The inflight service usually sucks and of course with a war raging in the middle east there's the risk of getting blown out of the sky by a terrorist. My goal is to never get on an airplane.

I cannot take a nap during the flight. Working as a pilot is indeed a hard job...

Now 60, I can tell you that I wish I had never commuted. Too much time away from the fam and hard on the body.

My friend was an airline captain for 20 years and never made it sound this fun. Mostly terrible management screwing him over combined with near dangerous levels of fatigue.

Those kids are already adventurous. I tried to be a flight attendant to get that experience basically I couldn't do the job a simple thing I struggle with speed. I couldn't handle it. Really wanted to explore the world like this and it's so awesome. If you ever end up in West Palm Beach happy to go snorkeling there's tons of spots including near JFK's bomb shelter. You can see it but can't go in it.
