    So... same military modular handgun trial, S&W drops out very early... so they failed. But Glock continues and can't compete with the price supposedly, so they didn't fail? I'm really guessing S&W found out what the Sig price per unit was going to be and dropped out... but Chris is far more generous to some companies than to others...

      So what? Broken clock is right twice a day. Is one really remote change worth the much more severe problem the device can cause? Rittenhouse is the poster boy for the forward assist. That could have gone the other war really easy. He could have jammed that round into his chamber, locked the gun up and he would have been dead. If his gun would have been manufacturer right , that should not have happened in the first place. His personal account on how this went down was strange as well. That device will cause much more serious problems than it will ever fix.

    I bought a core 15 upper (1/9 twist ) for an ex girlfriend during the Obama scare in 2012- she put it on a " Hebron,KY poverty pony" lower and assembled it with PSA MOE with enhanced trigger) that Franken-gun continues to run and run and she takes it to the range and pumps Winchester and federal 55gr ammo through it and is happy with it ( a holosun 403 red dot rides atop the little carbine) Total cost? Upper :$475, lower :$75 . PSA lower parts MOE kit :$129 = $679.00 I've range fired for fun competition against her with my BCM midlength with an overweight dinosaur aimpoint PRO red dot, and truthfully ? It's got to be my eyes cause I'm getting 2" groups with BCM on the federal 55 gr rds, while she's averaging 1 3/4 -2" groups!!!! My BCM carbine : $1,350.00 My PSA premium Mid length was $800 ( upper on a complete Aero Precision lower) and it also shoots better on the cheap 55 gr ammo than my BCM I guess the " poors" have caught up.

    Apparently the "Best in the world" German tests and inspection still has a way to go to actually get that title......How do you give a thumbs up to mass production for a weapon with an obvious safety design flaw. Just a thought.....,

    • @SmallArmsSolutions
      @SmallArmsSolutions Před dnem

      Many weapons go through testing, goes well. During production, issues arise and must be fixed. If you’re familiar with manufacturing, a common saying is its easy to build a hundred, but try to build 20 thousand or more. In Caracal’s case, the issues arouse with very few pistols. The decision was made to recall all to protect their customers. We see this in manufacturing. The issue was drop safety. The German test did NATO-type drop testing. Those passed. The rest of the durability and relatability is the strictest in the world. Every manufacturer has recalls. On tried and proven designs. Some are QC issues and others require redesign. Many top end manufacturers do not recall to save face and put their customers in danger. But if a manufacturer makes the decision to do the recall, they are somehow frowned upon. This makes absolutely no sense because of the cost and burden the company takes on to make the correction. If you talk down at every company with a recall, your safe would be empty. It’s part of manufacturing. Cars, refrigerators, guns… whatever have recalls. You should feel far better going with a company who thinks more of the customer than saving face.

    • @mross8792
      @mross8792 Před dnem

      @@SmallArmsSolutions Today's world and manufacturing is so full of excuses. I would consider a firearm life saving equipment, as I think most would. Imagine the life saving equipment in a hospital with the failure rate of the guns manufactured in the last 5-8 yrs. Gun manufactures have made it common practice to use the general public as their test labs, and at the same time avoid any responsibility for their products(not all, but most). They all pull from the same list of avoidance....Your gun must be dirty You're using the wrong ammo Wrong gas setting .....And the list goes on. I say these things, because I have spent thousands of $ and hundreds of hours dealing with Ruger, Benelli ,S&W, KelTek over guns that don't function. Predictably, they all have the same reasons why "The Customer"has done something wrong. When I was young, You could buy a gun and it worked...EVERY TIME.

    • @SmallArmsSolutions
      @SmallArmsSolutions Před dnem

      When you were young you were not buying military grade weapons. Military grade weapons are designed around specific parameters. For example a military pistol is designed to fire FMJ round with a stated reliability. Now that gun cowes to the commercial market where there is no standards for ammunition. Your bullet shape, powder blends and cartridge case specs are all over the place. Now the gun does not work and commercial market makes claimed of bad guns. Like a Colt M4 designed around specifically M855 ball ammunition and pressures. Commercial customer will complain the gun is garbage because it wont work with underpowered Wolf ammo. Yes, in most military weapons, ammunition makes the difference whether it runs or does not. The problem is there is no regulation in commercial ammo like military. Auto loading weapons are quite complex. Very small window when they will function reliable. Commercial market is a nightmare because you cannot control the most critical variable, ammunition. The chamber and port pressures are vital for reliability. So some manufactures who release commercial weapon open up gas ports to try to work with all this out of mil-spec ammo. Then when you put proper 5.56mm, it’s now overgassed and a new set of problems arise. This is far more a complicated engineering/manufacturing problem than you understand. If your car is designed for gasoline, and you put diesel in it is the car junk? Or are you trying to make the car do something outside its design perimeters?

    @SmallArmsSolutions thank you for another great video. I enjoyed this video as your other videos. Just some notes related which wasn't exactly correct related to some bullpups. SA80 is not replaced by AR in British Army. British Army ( frontline units) just replacing SA80A2 with A3 version. Project Hunter is for Tier2/3 UKSF and L403A1 rifle replacing SA80A2 and L119A1/A2 ( mainly ) in those units only. Tier1 ( SAS&SBS) never used SA80 and moved from H&K through L119A1/A2 to L401A1. Famas replacement H&K was more political decision. There is no small arms industry able to develop and produce rifles for French army anymore. German alliance is more important than stick with Bullpup. Australia and Austria will stick with Steyr design. Which would be interesting for Austria considering Czech ownership. If you need support documents, please don't hesitate to ask.

      @@SmallArmsSolutions KAC was adopted by Tier 1 regiment ( SAS & SBS ) about two years ago but they still didn't received rifles. Project hunter which ended up with adoption of L403A1 is for Tier 2/3 special forces like Royal Marines, Pathfinders, etc is different contract and L403A1 is cheaper ( not fully KAC ) rifle. Those L403A1 replacing equally another AR15 rifles as SA80. For project hunter one of the requirements was that it must be AR15 based rifle ( which wasn't in proposal for new Army's rifle ). Tender for new Army's rifles was planned for next year but because army need investments on much more important things it looks like it will not happen in near future. In main time, H&K finalised shape of new SA80A3 and start supplying it to frontal units.

      The 22 Mini Mags are a copper washed lead. You can feel the lead to touch. That is not jacket. The 22 Win Mag is actual copper jacket. The lead would be to hot and melt in a Win Mag load, has to be copper jacket.

    Infantry guy here, I would've been happy with all of the line unit M4s getting upgraded to Block IIs. Most guys just want more rail space and suppressors. At the team level, there needed to be a M249 replacement, however I don't know if the M250 is the answer. As time goes on, I wouldn't be surprised to the M7s get rechambered into 7.62x51 due to the blatant logistical issues that is the 6.8, especially with the thought of a peer conflict lingering on the horizon and we are now the only NATO member fielding the cartridge. But hey what do I know. To quote Carter Burke from Aliens, "he's just a grunt, no offense."

    The original purpose of the Gun Control Act of 1968 was actually protectionism. American gun manufacturers were losing in the marketplace, especially for handguns, thanks to the military surplus import boom of the '50s and '60s. They also couldn't compete with the lower manufacturing costs in other countries. Which at the time was Germany, Spain and Italy for the most part. It was actually the big New England based gunmakers who approached Senator Dodd to come up with some kind of protectionist legislation for them to try to shore up their profits. This was years before the passage of the law. It changed in intent somewhat along the way after some of the infamous events of political violence in the 1960s occurred. Which are themselves surrounded by a tornado of lies. But that's another story. It turns out that in any era, the cheapest things that people can obtain to fulfill the perceived need are going to be the most common and popular ones in the marketplace and wind up frequently appearing in nefarious circumstances by dint of sheer numbers. Also I've encountered hundreds of examples of these handguns during my many years in the gun industry as a gunsmith and machinist, and they generally work just fine. The main problem encountered with them is abuse. People simply do not clean or maintain them, and generally subject them to abusive treatment as well. I've often been surprised at how well they shoot. Of course they do not have the working life of a gun that's six times as expensive, and like any very cheap consumer products they break parts much more often and wear out faster. But they also generally work reasonably well when given proper care, cleaning and lubrication. I've heard of Jennings J-22s firing over 10,000 rounds. I've fired thousands of rounds through a .22 caliber Davis Deringer with zero ill effects or malfunction. These guns are also usually very simple to repair and get running again when there are problems. I was accumulating an informal collection of the cheapest and most disparaged handguns across time for a while there, with examples dating back to the 1870s, and I was consistently surprised by how well most of them worked and shot. Even very loosely built and sloppily manufactured examples were typically capable of keeping all their shots well inside of 6" at 25 yards. Surprising, but no less a fact. I have a Lorcin .380 I unintentionally wound up with that works perfectly and shoots quite well after a little bit of work to correct its minor mechanical problem. So cheap guns work fine more often than not as long as you actually understand how to care for and maintain firearms generally. Expensive high quality ones have numerous problems too, but they're just not denounced as inferior. I've seen problem guns from every single major manufacturer in the world at some point.

      They need to keep the rifle heavier to manage recoil. If you decrease the weight of a .308 Win caliber it will be very punishing. I have fired a 6 pound AR10, the recoil was horrid firing multiple rounds. The lightest possible rifle does not always mean the best option. Again, I will agree the Sig is bulky. But I understand the more heft. Especially since it was designed as a selective fire weapon.

    As a current serving soldier in the British army reserve, the L85A2 is a good rifle. The only issue I have with it is, I wish it was left-handed friendly. I personally taught myself how to shoot with both eyes open, while on the range. Although, I have to adjust my eye alignment after each shot. The problems L85 had, were from the A1 version of the rifle. It's no difference from the problems the M16 had during the Vietnam war. Project Grayburn is the title for the replacement program. The MOD is planning to start trials near the end of this year. It is most likely going to be a AR-15 style rifle. I also read that the production for the L85 is going to be slowed down. Which I find strange. Considering most of us are still waiting to be issued with the A3 version.
