let's be honest - in today's world, that's a dress watch. And for a dress watch it's too thick (most of the watches are :(, this one is not horrible at 10.5 ) . (hint: dress means jacket, jacket means shirt, shirt means cufs. watch needs to wear comfortably underneath the cuff!). I really crave old dressy manual Omegas (De Ville and surroundings) Hamilton Intra-Matic.

Hi James, great review as always. Just out of curiosity it seems that Phoibos no longer ships from a UK warehouse ? Do you know if this is the case, and if so, would you be stung with taxes etc if shipped from EU warehouse?

Do not buy from Agelocer!!! I ordered a watch and the very same day I changed my mind and wanted to switch to another model. They agreed to cancel my original order and refund me… Except that they never refunded me and didn’t send the watch! And they stopped responding to my emails!

Just revived this today. Amazing. Got it in the sale for £34. How is this quality possible for the price. I also got the fliger addisedive for £32 and delivered in 5 days really good stuff.

Good looking watch, great vid. I couldn't justify the cost of DWC, so my first build ended up being a Vostok Amphibia 090. $150 or so, took a month for the parts to get here (US from Moscow supplier). Caught the mod bug hard with that one. Anyway, subbed. Look forward to perusing your channel.

The end links just aren't well designed. The fact it looked OK on your wrist doesn't mean there is no room for improvement. Imho, the date wheel should be light blue!

I was thinking about old version for a long time but eventually didn't buy it. This one looks better, but they should have kept 42mm. 39 is instant dealbreaker.

Ooooh - date wheel the same shade of blue as the lume would be cool.

Good review, this is a nice watch, great lume and very well priced. I actually don't mind the white date wheel, because it is at 6, it is more legible. It is a bit heavy, but the thickness was less than I expected. I like it, but prefer my SN0116.

San Martin made lower tier micros (like Phoibos) irrelevant to me. No color-matched date window and way too heavy.

I agree that this is one of San Martin‘s best watches. I do not agree that female end links and the clasp work very well with this watch. First, female end links tend to twist in some ungainly angles if the caseback is quite thick as it is the case here (it can be seen in the video). Male end links would integrate visually much better. Second, the clasp is not only unnecessarily big, with long links it also often does not provide a perfect fit and some adjustment left at the same time. This is due to the links being longer than the adjustment leeway. Ah and third, I do not agree with the notion of a date at the 6 being better. The case is asymmetrical with a pronounced bulge at the three. It makes perfect sense to put the date right there.

When the designer decides to make an actual homage to a drum instead of taking inspiration from it, this is what you get 😅

I'm inclined to agree, I think this is their nicest watch to date. My only criticism is indeed the thickness, I've not held it so I can't make a fully informed judgement but over 13 mm of thickness makes it a fairly chunky boy! I hope San Martin develops this design further, perhaps difference dials, maybe even a good quality quartz movement and a much slimmer case. The only thing that puts me off is the chunky case.

I got the GMT version. Beautiful case. Now i order the sn0130. I like this even more!!!

There must be a South African connection to Draken watches. Drakensberg - a mountain range in SA. Tugela* - a major river in SA. (*This watch features Mont au Sources in the Drakensberg on its caseback). Benguela - an ocean current on SA's west coast. Kruger - the major national park in SA. I would guess that owner Mike is a "Saffer". Nice watches at very keen prices. I wonder how Mike gets a supply of an ETA movement from the Swatch Group in Switzerland... Kudos to him, though!
