- Here's the review of the Jianghun JH0101 War Drum. This is a new microbrand from San Martin. It's the first watch from the brand, and it's not an homage, it's a completely unique and original design. Which is what the brand will be focusing on.
Here's a link to the watch on their website:

It’s definitely interesting. Not quite for me, but Gary from I Like Watches showed some preview of upcoming watches from the brand, and I’m definitely excited for those. Thanks for the great review. The Chinese seem to have made leaps and bounds in the watch world in the last five years. I’m excited to see what they do in the next five, ten, etc.
They certainly have. San Martin alone has come a long way. I started my channel about 4 years ago and one of the first watches I got was a San Martin.

The good thing is that they use the NH38. But I would not want to be caught in public with this drum around my wrist.
The no date specific movement is always appreciated. Thats's fair enough, it won't be for everyone.
I wish they'd use the NH38 in their other no date watches instead of NH35!
@@thegorn Same here.
I like it.. I'd love to see a burnt orange version! It's good to see them do their own thing.
Yeah, a darker version of the light brown one they currently have?
I wish I would love it enough to buy it.
You’re right, hidden lugs a la Seiko Tuna would have solved a lot of its quirks…
Thanks for the sincere review.
Perhaps they could do a version 2 like that.
Thanks. You know you're always going to get a 100% honest review from me, no matter what.
Lovely looking watch , perhaps Tandorio will integrate the lugs when they homage it .
That would be kind of weird seeing an homage of this.
Liking the thumbnail 😉
Thanks. I'm testing out CZcamss new thumbnail comparison thing on this video. So, there's three different ones now. Which one did you see?
The close up with the ‘12’ and logo
@@jamessaund Ah ok 😉
Great review but not to my taste but a good start for there micro-brand
Cheers mate. Thanks for watching anyway. I'm sure they'll come out with something you'll like more soon.
Reduce it to a 40mm…god no! make it a 44mm instead and shorten the lugs I say. Great review chap thanks 🙏
Oh ok. What size wrist do you have then? Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR Ha ha well about the same size as yours actually but I just prefer bigger watches. Probably gonna get some shade thrown at me for saying this but for me anything under 42mm just looks a bit underwhelming…just saying! 🙏
@@fooshman5163 That's fair enough. We all have our own tastes. So, out of interest, do you think this looks too small on my wrist for your taste then?
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR It looks fine watching you wear it in your review. However, I do find that the smaller case size watches (say around 40mm) when worn by reviewers on CZcams always look a bit bigger than in real life. I guess it’s the trick of the camera 🙏
I like it
It's really interesting isn't it?
Good review of a fascinating watch. I like the dial, case and strap. For my taste, it's too big and a little thick. It is only the lugs which really put me off, they look awkward, just a little curve and rounded ends would have made a huge difference. I like the honest Chinese branding and I wish them well, what will they do next? 😁
Cheers mate. It really is a fascinating piece and new brand from San Martin isn't it?
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR Intriguing to say the least, if they can only hit on one new design that grabs people it could be a great success.
@@dunderhay9169 Absolutely. I'm sure they'll learn from this one and improve things.
Out of my price range so my opinion hardly matters, but those lugs are really bad. Just ditch those lugs and do something more like the Seiko tuna.
That would look good I think.
It's certainly an original design, I'm just not sure if I like it.
It might grow on you the more you see it.
When the designer decides to make an actual homage to a drum instead of taking inspiration from it, this is what you get 😅
Too Tacky
In what way exactly?
This watch is horrendous. Now you know why they make homages.
Horrendous is a bit harsh I think. There's definitely some things that could be tweaked though.
Horrendous? A proper Englishman would say: "an acquired taste"
The watch looks like an ashtray. Not my cup of tea.
😆 Fair enough
Not a drum, turn it edge on and it's obviously their version of a trench watch. Not bad looking but if you are going to start a 'premium' 'original design' brand why oh why use a bog standard NH? Go all chinese and use a calibrated seagull st2130.
Yeah, I do mention in the conclusion that it could be considered a Trench watch.
As for the movement, I do get your point, but most people seem to prefer the reliability of the NHS movements though.
Nope.
