Classic Case: Granuloma from Histoplasmosis
zhlédnutí 8KPřed rokem
This is a classic case of a granuloma due to prior histoplasmosis. In the vast majority of histo infections, patients are either asymptomatic or have minimal symptoms. It is only later that a granuloma is found incidentally. When the granuloma is calcified, it is not a diagnostic challenge. When the granuloma is not calcified, the nodule can be mistaken for other lesions including cancer. That ...

Does the heart recover back to normal after PE with right heart strain? Recovering now for a little over a month. I was under the impression the heart recovers after a strain 😢 takes a few months ?
This is perfection, personified! Thank you for your efforts and assistance to the throngs of people who need this explanation. Bless you always!
Hey Doc, I got diagnosed with this and I’m relatively young, and was physically very healthy before. I’m wondering if I can continue to smoke my medical marijuana while having it. I haven’t, and honestly my anxiety has been horrible. It feels like hell on earth. Thanks
Superb presentation 🎉❤
Superb presentation 🎉
What exactly, does " multiple irregular streaky linear densities, fibrosis, atelectasis, or subpleural reticulation" ( in the bulibasal and basal region) mean? I am a 60 year old woman, and have never smoked in my life. But years ago (20s and 30s) I was exposed to asphalt, parrots and chickens, and I had pneumonia twice... as a child and in my 40s. I don't have a cough, just a minor loss of stamina ( I am rather active.) I am waiting to be seen by a pulmonologist, I just saw my PCP, but she didn't say much. I Googled all of these terms, and frankly it freaked me out. What is your opinion, doctor?
Thank you so much for your video, very informative and your calm voice is so pleasant to listen. God bless you ❤
I had an x-ray done on my left chest. The doctor told me there was air where it shouldn't be. So, what is the treatment to cure?
I have my xray results rn. Right apical pleural thickening
What would these CT findings mean: Multiple irregular streaky linear densities, fibrosis, atelectasis, and subpleural reticulation? ( In the bulibasal and basal region.) I just received the CT results ( the CT was taken for another issue - not my lungs) so that specialist couldn't elaborate, I am waiting to see my PCP and a referral to a pulmonologist. I am a 60 year old woman, never smoked, don't have a cough, and this is very alarming to me - trying to figure it out.
What is the medicine on that
Thank you so much doctor ur the best who explained that way I have diagnosed
Thank you for your soothing and calm explanation of lung nodules. I was just diagnosed incidentally from a heart CT with a less than 5 mm nodule and have convinced myself I have lung cancer. Your presentation is the best I have seen, and has calmed me down until I can discuss with my own doctor. Thank you so much!
Same here
I was so much worried 😢I found out that I have it but u calm my anxiety 😢

AT WHICH PAGE I CAN ASK QUESTIONS REGARDING CHEST RAD???????????????????????????????????????
I was diagnosed with nodules less than a month later I'm being told I have cancer in my left lung .
I had nodules low risk, had CT scans every six months, then yearly. At the last scan they could no longer see them.
I wondered what lung noodles were🙄😆
Which of these is an unpaired branch of the thoracic aorta
Would you give me yout opinion about this CT scan pic?, I would appreciate it, just tell me what you see. drive.google.com/file/d/1w5ra5pIdDvWW48VYl1OEDQVdM6UVpMnX/view?usp=sharing
can a tumor still be detected with no contrast ct scan ?
excuse me how did you recognize the left and right pulmonary arteries, I usually don't understand which one is left and which one is right thank a lot! ❤
Very detailed explanation ty doc good speaking clear precise ty so much God bless you

Wow, what a outstanding presentation! The clarity and professionism is top notch. Can you please confirm that if a nodule is verified growing in followup scanning, then it is definitely a cancer? Thanks Dr
Colon or large intestine ulcers can be seen in ct scan?
Great

Dear sir, I’m a man of 52 years old, sometimes smoking (about 1 or 2 sigaret) a week, No cancerhistorie or other lungdiseases, neither in my family. Accidentally they found in my long a aspecific nodus of 6 mm. Can you tell something about the chance of beding mailignant. Thans you, Maurice (from The Netherlands)
Hi, it is difficult to say the chance without seeing what the nodule looks like. And even being able to see it, the chance depends on many other factors. I can tell you that most nodules are benign, but in order to prove that, it will probably need a follow up CT scan in a few months.
Thankyou.
Really useful. Thank you. My granulomas are encapsulated yet lit up under a PET scan. No symptoms at all. I won’t be seeing a pulmonologist for a month. Looks like I may need a biopsy ☹️
Hm, yeah if they have been stable for a long time (over 2 years), that to me is a pretty reassuring sign. You may need a biopsy but more likely just follow up scans.
@@ThoracicRadiology Thank you for responding. Hope I’ll just need follow up scans. 🤞
Hola, una tomografía de tórax es desde la mandibula para abajo?
No, it is from the lower neck, down. Most scans do not include the mandible.
So what if it’s multiple? Like… a lot of them?
How many and what size are they
16 ranging from 6mm to 22mm
If these are ground glass nodules or sub solid nodules (not completely solid), usually what is done is they are followed with CT every 6 months or a year. If one starts to grow faster than the others, it is taken care of with surgery or radiation.
Almost Two months ago I was diagnosed with having Two nodules on my lung one is 2cm and the other is 4cm. My question is how can doctors know whether nodules are benign just from viewing my CT Scan? What further testing needs to performed to set up a course and a plan of action?
Hi, it depends, sometimes we can be pretty sure something is benign or malignant just based on the CT scan. Many times we need to do a follow up scan to see if it gets bigger, smaller, or stays the same. Occasionally another test like a PET scan or biopsy is needed.
