The way NVIDIA left me out with my 3080 is why I switched to AMD, but the lack of good upscaling and VR Meta Link support had me regretting the decision immediately. These things are still not fixed.

After using 1440p for so long. I recently got a switch lite and at first the 720p screen gave me a lot of motion sickness but the more you use it, the easier it gets to getting used to a downgraded screen.

My MSI SUPRIM X 4090 just melted a couple of days ago, I had a CableMod 180° adapter on it. Everything was plugged in properly and sitting flush. I think cyberpunk is what did mine in. Pretty ridiculous… I bought this $2000 GPU so I could play graphically demanding games, maxed out. Now I risk my card melting and months of my time getting it fixed if I play graphically demanding games. I’ve talked with CableMod, and they’ve been awesome. Just waiting on a response from Nvidia now pertaining to an RMA. If they refuse, CableMod said they would cover the costs of the repair. Just an annoying situation, not having a PC for a couple months. Also, who’s to say this doesn’t happen again? How do I prevent my 4090 from melting itself again? Clearly the cables sitting flush and the adapter wasn’t enough. Hadn’t even had my 4090 for a year, does that mean it’s going to melt yearly? Will I need to send it in for repairs annually? Do better Nvidia.

Why does AMD just make it so hard to choose a current gen card without either breaking the bank or sacrificing something?

At the end of the day the reality is that if you want the best gaming PC that will perform the best and last the longest, then you buy an Nvidia card. The same way that you buy an Intel CPU. No they're not the cheapest or the best deal at the point of purchase in terms of performance to price ratios. But they ARE the best performing components that you can buy in terms of absolute performance and longevity. As an example, in 2016 i bought a PC with an Intel 6900k and a GTX 1080. I spent about 2000$ on the rig. That is the same PC that i'm currently typing this comment on, and i'm only NOW 8 years down the line looking to upgrade it because Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10 and my current PC isn't compatible with Windows 11. If it wasn't for that i'd still keep using this PC because even though it no longer gets me ultra performance in the latest titles, it still provides a more than playable experience with basically anything i throw at it. If it wasn't for Microsoft i'd honestly just let this thing keep going until i couldn't play new releases anymore. Compare that to buying budget components from AMD or lower tier components from Nvidia and Intel that you'll have to fuck around with upgrading and replacing every couple of years as they become obsolete and unable to run games to a satisfactory degree, i'd rather just keep buying high end Nvidia and Intel components and not have to worry about upgrading my PC for the next 5-10 years instead. Think about it this way. I spent 2000$ on my current PC. It's lasted me 8 years, and would have kept lasting me if not for Microsoft. That's roughly 250$ per year that i spent on my PC, potentially less if Microsoft hadn't pulled their bullshit. That's not bad at all. Do you think i would have gotten the same deal if i had skimped and got a 1060 or 1070 and some AMD CPU and had to replace them every couple of years to keep up with hardware demands? Sure if you just plan on constantly buying the latest hardware to always have a top-of-the-line gaming PC then buying Nvidia and Intel is probably going to hurt your wallet. But if you look at it as an investment into a hobby that's going to last you for a long time, then i'm buying Nvidia and Intel every single time. At least until something that can genuinely compete in terms of performance and longevity comes along.

Imma be honest, i have owned 4 amd/ati cards in the past: a 9600pro, a x650xt ,hd2700xt, and a rx580. The 580 was the best out of the 4 i have owned, the last 3, 2 could barely play doom 3, 1 had bios issues with dx10 support, and the 580 was a really good card. Even the drivers got me surprised, and i wanted to get a 6800xt but it didnt happen but i was able to score a 3080 10gb 2 months after release. When amd gpus were ati they were gabbage, up until the hd7000 series, as nvidia has had a lineup of cards before the gtx era that worked as intended. I think its more of a reputation thing even if the new cards work flawlessly, and nvidias marketting is unmatched

Hah, Tell me about it. I use a 40 inch 4k Monitor which is an excellent Size and the Resolution makes it so sharp! But you are kinda bound to the Halo Product GPU's if you want to play in that resolution, or even 4k with DLSS, when you like to play the new, newer, newish games. I wish there would be a 1440p 40 inch Display, maybe OLED, I'd happily downgrade to that.

here in the Philippines, if you find a good deal you can get a 5700xt used for 155 USD same price as a used rx6600 but some people sell it at 195~220 USD you can get an rx6600xt with that price if I have the money I will choose rx6600 or 6600xt cause of the power consumption

Ngl, sad to see comparison on Nvidia embedded game (not from you). But Because if you compare something in Cyberpunk for exemple. You will see a lot of imperfection on AMD compared to DLSS. The greatest test would be on Independent Game.

I am completely fine with playing games in 1080p with or without upscaling on my 1440p monitor. Especially since I decided to place it in a way that allowed me to use it from my bed when it comes to playing games
