Hi and Welcome,
My name is Marie and I'm a classically trained fine artist.
Oil painting is my main passion. I always knew that one day when I had gathered knowledge and experience about this beautiful medium, that I would want to share that information in the best, simplest and most down to earth way I possibly could.
My wish is to inspire and help that person out there who’s got the desire and passion to explore oil painting, but that would like that extra little guidance to get started.

How about a bit of turpentine /solvent in the oil. I see some people do it but fear it may be too harsh on the painted film. 2 months dried painting.

do you find liquin or linseed better for 2nd or 3rd layer detail work, i prefer linseed but the drying is so damn slow...thanks. can you combine both...
Beautiful work
Blending (??)
Beautiful
I follow Cesar Cantos and Scott Waddell too ,but this video is more informative ,thank you
H E L P anyone. Is my understanding correct? If I use the exact same amount of Walnut Alkyd Medium with each new layer of paint, I don't have to be concerned about following the fat over lean principle? I'm supposing because each of the previous layers are already almost dry chemically when touch dry? Is that true? That would make sense I suppose? I must understand this for sure before I use this medium and begin oil commissioned oil portraits, because they must absolutely be archival, and hopefully I can finish each one quickly. I'm trying to switch from acrylics to oils while having a fast turn around in sales. Thanks for any help.
Need to revise the yellows. Missing one 😊
Ciao Marie complimenti, 👍per fare il colore delle foglie che combinazione di colori uso per favore, grazie

Hi marie... your fantastic one
Thank you for this video! Question: is starting with a heavy impasto with a lean medium (e.g. 100% mineral spirits), followed by thinner layers of paint thinned with oil a violation of the fat over lean rule? This is the procedure I've always followed, by I typically get an awful "matte" finish to my paintings which suggests I'm doing it wrong. In other words, there seem to be two parameters: (1) thin paint --> thick pain; and (2) lean medium --> oily medium. You seem to be saying these go together, whereas i thought they were different entirely. Thanks!
Very nice and Thank You! I’m a big tree fan and getting ready to paint a closeup view of a favorite tree from my studio looking out of my picture window. Loved your music!!
Very informative vlog, Marie. I've got a crazy question. How do you store your study paintings? I'm new to the oil medium and used to storing paper and working sketchbooks. To learn oils I'm generating a bunch of 6x8 panels. Most are best put in the garbage but I can't figure out how to store the ones I want to keep. Ideas?
