    I hope they were your sheep Rex was in field with. Many farmers will shoot or prosecute loose dogs in field of livestock. Also if irresponsibly powners saw thus they would assume a loose dog in a field of sheep was ok. Sorry about the rant but i live in sheep country and can understand the farmer's point of view.

    • @nigelreed
      @nigelreed Před 8 hodinami

      I get the general concern as there has been a rise in sheep attacks recently. However no sheep were bothered in the making of this video. The farmer has seen me many times and smiles at me. Farmers will only shoot a dog or prosecute the owner if the dog is bothering sheep - not dogs that under control and stick by their owners. Rex was under control as the law states - no crime has been committed. With the argument of irresponsible owners copying a person's actions without any experience, you could literally make that flawed reasoning for anything anyone does i.e sword swallowing, race driving etc. Therefore you won't get me to admit fault for the supposed influencing of irresponsible people. People make their own choices based on their upbringing and individual situation. I have my new dog on a lead at all times as she is not perfectly trained around sheep and thus I follow the law.

    My dog has shown all signs of displacement whenever my husband gets home. Obviously he’s wanting to okay with him and excited to see him. Unfortunately my hsbnad doesn’t have the energy or interest and pushes my gsd away when he brings a toy. It leaves my dog confused and I’m so frustrated. I try to teach our boy not to push toys on anyone but it’s his way of trying to interact and displace his anxiety. Any suggestions please…

    Dear Nigel, thank you for this terrific video and the gorgeous Jazz. I have a highly reactive Airedale Terrier. She is a rescue and is now almost 6 years old. Your methods make total sense to me and I can see the change in Jazz. I watched a free webinar with Doggy Dan who seems to have the same methods as you. I really like the thank you's when there is barking and removing from the space into a smaller closed space to think about things. My Airedale, Gracie, is highly reactive with other dogs but since I started using Doggy Dan's suggestions I have noticed an incredible calmness in her at home. Now that I have seen your methods out on walks, I will try them with Gracie. I haven't tried the flight method. I was walking past other dogs and distracting her with treats which clearly doesn't work in the long run. I'd love any other suggestions for her. She has had a lot of trauma in her life but I don't know exactly what it is. I never will but I love her dearly and want her to be happy and not feel the need to want to kill another dog or eat it for breakfast. I am very confident when I walk her and have come such a long way but the lunging at other dogs and the barking and wanting to bite them is a struggle to get in control. I really appreciate your videos and hope to come back to you with positive reports.

    • @nigelreed
      @nigelreed Před 4 dny

      Hi there, Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing a bit about Gracie. It sounds like you're doing an incredible job with her, especially given her past and the challenges you're facing. I can tell you truly care for her, and it's wonderful to hear that you're seeing progress, both with Doggy Dan's methods and now with mine. Jazz has been on quite a journey herself, so I completely understand how rewarding it is to see even small improvements. Keep up the great work! The fact that you're so confident and dedicated to helping Gracie find calmness and happiness is already a huge win. I'm glad you're considering trying out some of the techniques from my videos. The flight method, in particular, can be really effective, so I hope it helps you and Gracie as much as it has helped Jazz and others. if you watch this series it gives you tons of tips on what to do. czcams.com/video/neBb1cFVJvM/video.html Best of luck :)

    Ditch the harness - they are made to enable the dog to pull: sledge, tracking, agitation. HARNESS - a big marketing con.

      what should we use instead? Is using the collar better?

    • @nigelreed
      @nigelreed Před 4 dny

      A collar is more painful on the dog's neck and therefore more of a deterrent.. A choke chain is even more painful. A pinch collar is even more painful again. A harness causes no pain hence they are more likely to pull on it however I find I can move the dog back firmly without any guilt as a the others can make the dog choke.

    You talk about corrections. What corrections do you deploy with a harness? hahaha. And then, you expect Natalie as the owner to do the same as you do as the dog trainer with the same skills as a supposed dog trainer???? Have compassion for Natalie. Give her the tools that she needs to control the situation, which may involve a prong collar or an eCollar (extremely compassionate tools). But, set the owner up for success instead of prioritizing your stupid ideology about dog training. Be a REALLY compassionate dog trainer, not one that aligns with a stupid ideology.

      Dear Sam, Thank you for watching and for your review of my work. I have decided to review each point in your comment. _You talk about corrections. What corrections do you deploy with a harness? hahaha._ *It's very clear Sam, the corrections were being moved back firmly each time, reset and to start again.* _And then, you expect Natalie as the owner to do the same as you do as the dog trainer with the same skills as a supposed dog trainer????_ *Yes I showed her how to do the correction amongst much else. You literally saw her do it and I expect her to carry on.* _Have compassion for Natalie. Give her the tools that she needs to control the situation, which may involve a prong collar or an eCollar (extremely compassionate tools)._ *I do have compassion. I went there free of charge to show her what to do. I speak to her anytime she needs help and she continues to make progress. I did give her 'the tools' just not the the tools you mention.* _But, set the owner up for success instead of prioritizing your stupid ideology about dog training. Be a REALLY compassionate dog trainer, not one that aligns with a stupid ideology._ *I did set her up for success. We got success on the day and she continues to build on it. I'm saddened to hear you think building a dog's confidence is a stupid ideology* Sam i'm sorry I have to mark you 0/10 for your skills in observation. Also its a 0/10 for your reasoning skills - you seem to be an enemy of logic and oblivious to ideas that do not align with your thinking. On top of that, your childish demeanour and cheap digs combined with your perceived but mistaken authority of this subject has led me to give you an F for Fail. For the sake of those around you and whom you talk to, please try and be better. I will later be reviewing your work on your channel which is your rendition of 'silent night' you sang in the church. Which I can only assume you step foot in to sing - but do not practice Christianity in any shape or form. Your sincerely, Nigel

    I'm a week and a half into rehoming a cavapoo. I can't tell how much of her behaviour is lack of socialization and how much is anxiety, but she's smart and we're making progress slowly, except on her reactions on walks. That's not going so well.

    Man dogs are A LOT of work. Even if their friendly. But one like this. Wow. Sucks for the dog and everyone

    I have an Australian/German Shepherd Mix..he’s so sweet..once you get to know him. but at first he lunges & barks a lot, especially when he doesn’t see the people coming:/ makes me sad, because once he meets other dogs he’s great! but people don’t usually want to go up to him because his teeth I think.. but he once he meets someone & if they move slowly lol then he’s fine!!:) like normal lol still working a lot with him, hopefully I can walk past people normally eventually😂he’s my bbyyyyyy❤
