  • Join me in a captivating journey as I guide Dante, a once-aggressive stray rescue, through a behavioural metamorphosis. In this video, you'll see the stark contrast between Dante's initial state of fear and hostility and his ultimate achievement of off-lead composure amidst a group of dogs. This is not just a simple 'before and after'-it's an in-depth look at the rigorous yet rewarding process of transforming a reactive dog into a model of tranquillity and obedience.
Through dedication and expert behaviour modification techniques, I address Dante's anxiety and aggression, illustrating the profound changes possible with structured training. The video highlights key moments and techniques from our sessions, revealing the patience and strategic environment management that's crucial for success.
Experience this inspiring transformation and glean insights into the methodology behind rehabilitating a dog that many would overlook. Whether you're a fellow dog behaviourist, a dog owner struggling with a reactive pet, or simply a dog lover, this story of change and hope is sure to resonate with you.
    Key moments in Dante's transformation:
Overcoming aggressive reactions to other dogs
    Building trust and confidence off-lead
Mastering calmness in a multi-dog environment
If Dante's story has touched you or if you're curious about the details of his training, delve into his diary entries and watch his progressive change from a nervous stray to a relaxed companion
Disclaimer: if you have any aggression or reactivity issues with your dog be sure to complete my online course on nervousness and aggression before implementing any advice given on my CZcams videos as a complete oversight of the method with careful management is needed.

    ** PS: I NEED YOUR HELP **
My goal is to better the lives of #onemilliondogs in my lifetime. It is clearly impossible for me to do this on a one to one basis. I have seen that with around every thousand views on my videos, I get a comment or email thanking me and letting me know the video has helped. So working on that basis, I have to make videos on how to address every problem
behaviour and accumulate ONE billion views in order to help 1,000,000 dogs.
You can help me reach #onemilliondogs by (1) subscribing to my channel and (2) give this video a thumbs up - so CZcams suggests this video to more dog owners and we can help 1,000,000 dogs all over the world. Thank you so much!

Nigel, like so many others below have said, this just made me cry. This is the most honest set of dog training videos I have ever seen and I feel it’s so reassuring that we are on the right path, even though it feels painfully slow at times and like a game of snakes and ladders too! I keep going back to your basics as outlined in your book and will try and stay strong so not to let Duke down. Thank you so much for doing this.

Thanks Fee. Snakes and Ladders is a term I often use so funny to hear you using it. It is a pleasure to share the journey with kind people (you and many others) who want to do well by their dogs. Thank you for your continued support. Best of luck with Duke.

Nigel, it is so wonderful to see a trainer reverse bad behaviour without prongs, shocks and "out there" methods. Just good old common sense and a message of empowerment. It is doable with the right attitude and dedication. Thank you from all the wayward ones and their dogs!

I've watched this last video in your series several times now, and cried like a baby every time! I adopted a reactive dog a year ago and while she has shown improvement in so many areas we are still a long ways away from our off-lead beach days. But it remains my goal for both of us and know if I can be the right leader for her she will get there. Thank you.

This video brought tears to my eyes, happy tears. So encouraging! I completely relate to everything he has shown here, and it’s true. Never give up on the dog you are working with because they count on us. They do represent an innocence, they deserve happiness and the best life. Patience, kindness, and understanding your dog’s behavior are so important. Thank you, Nigel, your knowledge and kindness prevails!

I love this Diary of a Rescue Dog vlog! Your approach to this behavior issue is much deeper and more in-touch with the dog's way of thinking than other training videos on this subject. You thoroughly explain this both verbally and by showing us with a dog throughout his transformation. I've watched each part numerous times. Thank you Nigel for taking the time to guide us through a very difficult issue.

This is so moving, I'm crying. I just found your channel and your Dante videos.
My dog is fearful of strangers and bigger dogs, and he's come so far since I adopted him, but I feel like we've stalled for the last 6 months.
He can walk past dogs, no problem. But if they try to greet him, he often freezes then snaps/snarls.
With dogs he knows and likes, he just gets too over-amped, barking in their faces constantly and not reading their stop signals.
With humans, he lunges and barks if they approach relatively close.
I DREAM of getting him to the point Dante is at - relaxed greeting other dogs at the beach!!

Hi Mira, Thanks for purchasing the course. It's hard to say how long it will take as I don't know how well you are managing the environment, how well you are communicating your role, how consistent, clear and convincing you are being when teaching. Even with me doing all this Dante was a tough case and it took me 9 months. I sped up the process by meeting X amount of people each week for controlled lessons. If you are going in the right direction then that is great but as mentioned controlled lessons will speed it up. Best wishes, Nigel

Hi Carol, This harness doesn't help. However a mekuti balance harness would help more.

Wonderful! ❤️ (Doesn’t all of this apply to humans as well?)

Thank you for this series, it gives me hope with my very reactive rescue dog. He is similar to Dante in video 1 but lunges at a greater distance, he's a strong boy so I struggle to hold him back.
I know for sure much of his problem is my anxiety about his reactivity. How can he have confidence in me if I panic when I see another dog. I hope one day he gets to where Dante is in the final video. Can I ask how long did this transformation take for him? Thank you.

HI there , pleasure. Dante used to bark at dogs from wherever he could see them. All is all, it took me 10 months.
The hardest part was the beginning of his journey on London which can seen on my online course.

Thank you, that gives me a lot more hope. I've only been working with Jerry on his reactivity for a few months. It was easier to work on in the summer when I could get out to places after work to hang around and watch the dogs at a safe distance. Progress is slower in these dark winter evenings! But we keep on 😊

      @@nigelreed thanks so much.
My friend adopted a saluki lurcher Cross in November having been at a rescue center as a stray and needed building up his weight and recovering from several wounds which appeared to be dog bites. He is a confident and happy boy in the home a bit bossy but very manageable, however on the lead he is very reactive. The rescue centre said it had become worse after he was neutered and recommended a head halti which has helped. We take him to a secure field weekly and have introduced my shih tzu cross at a distance which he has coped well with.
We are taking your advise and have started to avoid the park which has made a huge difference.
Thanks again for giving my friend hope.
      Regards Karen
