Dare I say that what they've done is fine considering it's an EXOTIC... People need to remember that exotics need to go back to being rare. They've been reduced to legendary drops with how frequent you can get them.

Honestly it’s ok for things to be rare that’s why exotics don’t really feel like exotics because the just throw them at us now we have something to grind for enjoy the grind

Hot take you dont need to farm this one item perfectly in one week the mission is one of if not the best mission in the game just run it, you dont have to optimise the fun out of the game thats on YOU

If you prefer solo play anyway, you only need the initial completion because farming the pale heart chests isn't bad. I've only completed one dual destiny and I've got at least 6 bonds. There's lots to do in the pale heart and there are always chests to open. EVEN if Bungie makes the exotic mission a 3 man activity, you're still gonna need friends or LFG. The people that can't do the activity because they don't have friends are likely not strong enough to complete it solo. If people want exotic mission loot, raid loot, gm loot, etc; what do they do?? LFG! This is literally no different. I'm lucky enough to have friends to help but if I wasn't, I guarantee I'd be running LFG until I found the right rando to complete it with. It's the same thing that happens in raids. Literally no difference.

Hot Take: I'd rather have the exotic class item drop up to 3 times per weekly reset within the Pale Heart Pathfinder instead of Ergo Sum. That or swap out the Ergo Sum reward drop from the matchmade Overthrow in favor of the ECI. Pick one of those 2 & swap out Ergo I think.

i dont own a mic. i dont have friends that play the game. i am not gonna spend money on a mic just to play one mission with a stranger for a chance at a meta exotic

Maybe overthrow final boss chests have a 1/3 chance or gm excision drops multiple of them on completion

i only wish pale heard chest drops would be increased you can open chests for like 1 hr for 1 drop or run the mission twice in the same time for 2 drops..

You dont actually need to speak at all, youll need to type your symbols and numbers on text chat but comms arent needed at all

Don’t let the solo players bring you down. They’re the ones being absolutely unreasonable telling the developers of an MMOFPS that is completely online to not make too much content that is multiplayer. It’s insane.

By putting the classitem behind this mission bungie in my opinion has made the statement that they want it to be rare and somewhat hard to get, otherwise it wouldn't really make sense for the mission to require a friend or LFG and direct communication to get it done. Because thats the thing that i think keeps most people from getting it and bungie knows that for sure. I'm also sure they knew that their descision will get the kind of heat it gets rightnow. so as long as there is no other way of getting it for the first time there should also be no easy or quick farm for it because then the "rarefactor" is gone and putting it behind all this and generating all the backlash was quite stupid. If they add a solo or matchmade way of getting it, i think it would be fair to give players who completed the mission better droprates. I play solo by choise and made my peace with not being able to get it as it is, but it would have been nice to know the two player requirement in advance. would still have sucked but at least it wouldn't have been the unpleasant surprise it was and killed all my hype in an instant.

Honestly they need to not patch the glitch or make it permanent thing 2 exotic for 20 to 30 mins is not bad And the down side is you need to of the same class so either way it should stay

Have it as a 33% chance to drop from tier 4 pale heart bosses. Or add it to onslaught as a boss drop.

Im glad the chances of getting what you want are not great we dont need everything the week it comes out. I farmed for shards of galanor for 2 months in forsaken and screamed when i got it.

FYI it’s all been done before. In borderlands. So someone who used to work for the company that made borderlands is now working at Bungie. Don’t believe me go watch some borderlands 2 or 3 videos.

Would be interesting to see % of the player base that have completed it in 6 months time. Also it always grates on me when I hear “leave things as they are. It’s fine” then in the next breath a thank you to <significant name of person in the community for carrying me through the mission>.

Tell me about it. I’ve had 14 class items drop. Half of them either had Hoarfrost, Eternal Warrior, or Horn. I have completely yet to see Ophidian, Abeyant, Bear, Synthoceps, Verity, Contact, or Scars. And I’m going for Abeyant/Scars 🫠

My biggest issue with the mission is that there's no other reason to run it other than the exotic class item. If you get the one you want first try its a 30 minute run, if you get it your 45th try it took you 22.5 hours for the exact same reward. The mission doesnt provide Ghost rep or other drops and doesnt give red borders or previous season items like the other exotic missions, so the optimal farm is not running the mission and getting pale heart and gunsmith engrams, plus ergo sum, world drops, and pale heart weapons while farming chests in public overthrow. My other complaint about the mission is the repetitiveness, you do the same puzzle 3 times in a row, then do several segments of jumping, followed by 3 bosses, then with a mandatory extra 2 minute wait at the end to listen to savathuns dialog and do the whole choose peace or war thing. The mission while really cool the first time was not made with farming in mind.

So if the mission is so fantastic, why do you need alternate farming methods??

The mission’s existence is fine but the class items shouldn’t be locked behind an activity that just forces people out of participating.

The issue is this exotic armor is kinda mandatory to complete your build, where exotic weapons are not. You have tons of exotic weapons to choose from. You can't get a Gjallarhorn? No worries, you can still play and complete the build with Dragon's Breath. What Bungie did here is not cool. I understand how amazing the mission is or it is the best exotic mission for Destiny 2. They could still made this mission for any existing exotic weapons like that new broken sword. Where 75%+ players are casual or solo and on steam less than 10% have finished either Grandmasters or raids, idk what Bungie wishes to get from this "spectacular duo" exotic mission but this a big let down for me and those 75%+ solo/casual players.

If they had made the mission 2 years ago before there was an in game LFG. I would have had a problem. As bad as the current one is. It exists. Therefore i dont have a problem with it

I loved the Dual Destiny mission but it's extremely time consuming and I wouldn't want to farm that.

What I think would pretty much solve it is a few things combined: Two drops from DD completion Add it to general loot pool after DD completion, as well as rahool Replace Pathfinder Ergo Sum with the class item after DD completion people that can rush a completion in 20 minutes will be able to get essentially one every ten minutes, solo players can farm lost sectors or overthrows or chest routes, and at the very least you'll get 3 a week from pathfinder. I do think that requiring DD completion should be required, though. Don't change that.

I think it's fine? A lot of the grind in Destiny 2 is designed around doing it faster at high level content or doing it slower in more casual content.

Why not make the legend and master lost sector have the option to choose between the daily exotic and the class items. It’s already solo, has a iffy drop chance and isn’t super efficient but will be different each day and can be run faster or slower depending on the player

I agree with you that they should be able to be creative. I’m not a huge fan but I totally get it. Just feels weird and I’m not that great a player.

Paul, I have a challenge for you. Play the mission without any sound on to mimic being deaf. People who suffer from disabilities should have a chance to get these items, even if it's just for the chance to farm these from Pale Heart chests. Yes, Bungie should be open to trying new things, but they need to keep people with disabilities in mind. Bungie loves saying they're inclusive with Trans at Bungie, Blacks at Bungie, Asians at Bungie, and of course Accessibility at Bungie, yet when it comes to the players they don't seem to care. Once you complete that challenge of mine, please share your experiences. Would you still think the mission should be locking someone whose deaf out from getting these exotic class items after having to use the text chat constantly?

You are playing an ONLINE game. If you can't get a single person to do a pretty easy mission with you when the game is an online MMO and there is literally a lfg (fireteam finder) in the game than you clearly aren't doing anything that would require an item you can only use on a single subclass. What's next? You're going to complain raids don't have a single person version?

Would have been cool if we just farmed intrinsic perk tokens, once we collected 5 of each one we could then combine colume 1 with a colume 2 and that would make the exotic class item with the rolls we want.

As a primary solo player, I’m disappointed, but I’m not mad. Final Shape felt like Bungie thought about every player, but this exotic mission feels more on par with Lightfall Bungie. I don’t like how people are discounting the fact that not all people are able to communicate the same way. I know a couple of people who I could run the mission with, but they have families and other responsibilities. Either way, I might run it later but it doesn’t seem worth the effort for me if I only want to run it once anyway.
