You scared me with the intro thinking that was Jake in re9. Lol Case in point, I really wouldn't mind seeing Jake again. However, there are many questions that come into play. Many important characters like Leon, Ada, Sherry, Claire, and others last appearance was in 2012. Having a HUGE time gap of at least 12 years. With Jill Valentine having like 15 years out of the seris. Having no idea where they have been or what they have been doing. Many fans are more eager to see Leon or Claire, or a character that have been in the Resident Evil games multiple times. There is a chance that Jake might not come back, since this is not CAPCOM first time showing one character in a Resident Evil game and never showing up ever again like Billy or Carlos. I do have some hope that Jake will come back, but we don't know for sure. PS: I haven't watch Death Island yet, so I have no idea if the time gap thing is accurate.

I wouldn't mind one bit. Capcom has such a bad habit of ignoring ancillary characters in the series that it's always a pleasant surprise when one gets so much as an acknowledgement in newer games, let alone makes a new appearance.

tbh if re9 comes and shes the main character i hope it focuses on her, let leon do something else that hes not in the game. let her interact with claire sheva Rebbecca etc anyone else someone that hasnt been shown as much

Also both would influence each character well. Chris could see how things aren’t as black & white as he thinks they are & Ada would see the opposite. Plus both fits extremely well the theme of the trilogy around how things aren’t the way they seem + are the characters that are the most linked with corrupted terrorist organizations & governmental agencies

I still think that having Chris & Ada would be the route to go as you said with Ada mechanics & gameplay to be balanced with Chris plus both would be αn unexpected duo & the first time we would had a duo that « hates » each other because Chris would totally despised her plus one character could be played in third person (Ada)the other in first person (Chris). Plus both were supposed to be in Village so they’d have met there I guess so having them together wouldn’t be in my opinion forced fan service

At this point Capcom should just make some sort of storyline where immortality is actually created by one of these umbrella-like organizations and given to the main characters cause as soon as any of these people canonically reach their 60s and realistically should be phased out of the spotlight you people won't be able to handle it.

Stuff like this is exactly why Capcom is too scared to do it. These characters are gonna be 80 years old clutching their back after every roundhouse kick if you people have your way. And looking at the bigger picture your absolute rejection of any form of change in the series is exactly what's wrong with 90% of any resident evil discourse I've ever seen. I'm the opposite I think a major character death NEEDS to happen. Every single game you can always count on the hero picking up a rocket launcher and winning and it gets old. You people need to stop being so rage filled about fictional characters dying especially ones that are literally nearing retirement age at this point. Realistically I would like to see a couple of them end up dead and the others retired who can still make cameos in future games. We are probably a good 5-10 years away from truly being in a new era (they already tested the waters with that on re7) but it needs to happen at some point. Furthermore, if a single character in a huge ensemble cast dying makes any of you want to quit the franchise entirely you were never really fans to begin with. I guess just Leon fans at that point?

It’s Confirmed Chris is still alive in 2036. So it’s either Leon, Claire or Jill are gonna die. If Leon dies i hope he goes in Iron Man fashion. If Claire i hope it has great build up in Redfield siblings story

it's most likely one of the last games in the series and it will hopefully have a lot of great character development and a satisfying conclusion Capcom gave us a lot with RE and there isn't a ton of room left for the story to continue and still be a good survival horror game

Leon only appears in Re2, Re4 and Re6.. While Chris appears in Re1,Re veronica,Re lost in nightmares, Re5, Re6, Re7 and Re8.. So its okey to be Leon in re9

Dear RE fans, RE has never been really good when it comes to any sort of narrative elements, the story is cheesy and generic at best, poorly written and miserable at worse, whatever character gets killed this doesn't change anything to this

They want to turn this series into a serious drama, instead of the fun action horror with cool and interesting characters and cheesy B movie stuff like the series was known for Capcom is ashamed of their old resident evil legacy and is desperate to overwrite it and replace it with this nonsense meant to cater to modern audiences. Thats why they focus on reimagining their old titles and not so much on new titles and when they do it is so detached from anything else in the series it might as well be a different IP all together

RE has existed for a while and it's a big name. Time for a bait and switch, maybe the angry dyed-haired tween from REvelations part 2, who was obnoxious to all the existing series cast members, can be the new MC.
