excellent explanation. If I use a 'standard' 223 die, my reloads will not run in my new Mini-14. Using an RCBS SB die, feeds like a charm.

I don't know about putting a pointed tipped bullet in a tube fed magazine, but other than that, nice video.

Where did you get the trimmer head?

concentricity is not really a big deal with good dies....a good barrel is a big deal plus good bullets...plus u need to check your seat depth by the og running into mag issues u just set for .040 clearance

I just got a set of these 223 small base dies along with 6 other sets of larger caliber die sets. Just figured I’d get this die set to start reloading some 5.56 because I have a lot of brass starting to accumulate. Good video. 👍

For the Weatherby Mark 5 in 300 Wby mag I own I regularly load 180 grain Barns TSX using 91 grains of IMR 7828 for a velocity of 3350 FPS. Noise and recoil are horrendous but gets the job done.

I’ve loaded thousands of 223 with standard RCBS & Hornady dies and have never had feeding issues. That being said Hornady dies win hands down due to there seating stems for multiple styles of projectiles and that why rcbs sucks across the board of handgun & rifle.

Drill and tap your socket and put a thumb screw so you can go back and forth.

I like the drill driver idea. I hand crank on a Redding trimmer and my hand gets sore fairly fast haha

I convert 556/223 brass to 300 blackout but it's time consuming. But still better than buying blackout brass.

Hey Johnny, I recently stumbled across your videos while getting into reloading 300 blackout from 223 brass. I had a question that maybe you could help me with? I've tried both the full length and small base sizing dies from RCBS but ended up with stuck cases almost immediately. I'm using Lyman case lube and setting up my dies as per instructions but it seems I'm getting a lot of resistance when trying to lower the ram after resizing which is causing the shell holder to pull right off the rim and therefore the case is stuck. Any advice on what I'm doing wrong?

Finally a guy who shares some truths about reloading this round. Thankfully I did alot of research of which equipment was the right ones before I took on the task of reloading my own 300 blk rounds. What I didn't expect was the lengthy or time consuming process converting 223 cases. My first run was 350 cases and boy was that alot of work. My kind of chore but still a chore nonetheless.

Good videos ...One piece of advise your holding the hand primer wrong turn it around so your fingers move back and forth hard to explain ... do it like your shooting a hand gun . Beaver tail part goes by your thumb you will get a better feel for how much pressure your putting out as well on that primer

I have tried your Process and so far, it's not going well I'm trying to turn 7.62 brass into 6.5 Grendel, and it isn't working well. I use my Hornady FL sizing die then I put them in a case gauge and most the rim sticks above. I try to follow your method, not sure what I'm doing wrong, would slightly heating the case to soften it would that help? I have as well a RCBS SB Die set, I have tried that after the Hornady die and still no go. Any ideas?

Just got a head space gauge that you just drop the case in and a lot of mine are sticking up .005 … is this acceptable? I need to know cause I’m going back and checking alot of bullets
