I was an early adopter. Bought mine in 2018. I was worried that it being the first year of this model that there would be some issues. But so far, it’s been great. I’m about to do the ECM upgrade. As far as the belly pan, I really need to do that. On my 2007 I hit something in the road, I never saw it. It put a small hole in the crank case. Thankfully my insurance covered it. The belly pan that was on it just waded up. Anyway, great review.

I keep the original Bridgestone tires but the second Michelin makes one for my 21 Goldwing I’ll do that.

Hey Robert. I got a flat on my VTX 1800R in the middle of nowhere. Michigan upper peninsula is where the middle of nowhere term comes from I’m convinced. Kind less fortunate locals saved me and removed all 3 nails from my back tire and repaired the holes. They were well compensated in proud to say. When I got home I replaced that 1500 mile tire. You only have 2 wheels on a bike so no reason to take a chance.

You’re smart to trust your gut and get that tire fixed. The one thing we don’t need on long haul’s are problems.dealership looks very and always enjoy catching up via your videos.

I have a 2007 Goldwing ABS and ran a tire with 2 sticky rope plugs (1st at 2000 miles and 2nd at 6000 miles) to 10,000 miles and it was still fine then. I ride long distance. No worries. Both plugs were from screws in the tire and were in the center of the tread area.

I feel for you having to replace a tire with low miles. I had two new tires put on a previous bike had less than a thousand miles on it drove a nail in back tire. Bike handles like crap with a flat tire. Went to the local Honda dealership and had another rear tire installed. Two weeks later hundred miles from home drove a nail in the front tire. Back to the dealership for a new front tire. They don’t give tires away. Enjoy your road trip.

Replacing that rear tire was 100% the best decision. And you are right. DFW Honda does have a large Trike business. As such has new rear tires to sell. Discounted is a great savings. Did your helmet come with those Goldwing decals on it, or did you put them on ?

personally, I have no issues with the way my DCT tour performs….I don’t need extra speed / torque / horsepower etc….it does what I need it to do….obviously, to each his own….ride safe

Smart move, replacing a sketchy tire before a trip. I just did the same with a front tire on the GSA - could've got another 1,000 miles around town - maybe - but not on a long upcoming trip. Did you buy the bike at DFW?

Hey try the Reax brand from cycle gear/revzilla. I have the Alta mesh jacket and pants they are good quality, not too expensive, and cut for normal sized ppl and not for athletes.

Robert my friend, you had a lot of cool content wrapped up in this video. Sit back, it's comment time! You made the right decision on your rear tire. Always go with your gut feeling. Like you said before, you have family that depends on you returning safely. That's reason enough in my books. Your audio and camera angles are great and I bet your will be more relaxed on the Colorado trip in the near future. The Rebel 1100 Review will be a good for your channel. Nice to expand into other bike related content. Now for the ECM Flash unit. I am 100% No. Not trying to prevent others from giving it a shot, it's just not for me. Robert, I bought the ECU flash for my 23 DCT exactly like yours. It is a significant increase in HP and torque on my bike. I did it because I found power lacking in several situations while pulling my Bushtec trailer. I just returned from a 6500 mile trip pulling my trailer and I have to say it made a huge difference and it was especially noticeable at elevations between 5000 and 11,000'. I am totally impressed with it and it was money well spent. It does all the things that BT-Moto advertises. The flash was easy to do and the ECU plug is behind the right side cover under the battery, not hard to get to. And yes, in sport mode it will scream....Hope you are going to ride the Million Dollar Highway. If so, go early and on a weekday if possible. Much more enjoyable.

what does a rear tire cost with dealer labor ?

I too think 800$ is a lot. If it fixes the slow response on the throttle great. I would like better control in that area. Very glad to see you install a new tire. I have had more than 1 plugged tire explode on me on my 4 wheeled vehicles , don't care to have that happen on a 2 wheeler. Nothing good can happen with that.

Being safe is most important . I would have done the same thing,. Sure the temps in TX get lower when I am not there. Enjoy Colorado with you were going in SEP we would have gone part of the way with you....

Nothing wrong with the BT Moto flash. When you order it your suppose to supply the numbers on the ECU to BT Moto so it can be for a lack of a better word classified so the flash can be structured correctly. Honda goes way overboard concerning there base firmware. Some of there cars are utterly ridiculous concerning the differences in how the code is structured in the ecu and other control modules built the same year,,, if not the same week. And the Wing falls in this same class of digital stupidity. The tool supplied with the flash will create a file that needs to be emailed to BT Moto. They can then correct to code id and email it back. With how our plastic fantastic Wings are built taking off the needed plastic to get to those numbers is a complete and utter pain in the ass for such a simple info getting job. I would flash my Wing and it is underpowered. for the sake of argument why does the Wing motor need to be 1833 cc for a tiny 124hp/124tq at the crank. It's kind of like a old Cadillac that has a 502 ci engine and barely gets out of it's own way when a 283 ci engine would have done the same job. But like many other motorcycles now days that are built to meet epa and eurotrash specs there dialed way back concerning the tune so even after flashing/tune they only make 8 to 12 hp more and 3 to 6 tq more. So at $800 for the BT Moto flash it's not really worth it to me. Now if I had access to a GOOD exhaust upgrade and cams it might be worth the cost. And all the new engine designs have very very choked up head flow. So head work/porting in combo with cams would be a must. But there is only so much one can do with the Wing engine because of the rams horn air flow path through the intake system to the backside of the intake valves. And Honda is not going to correct that issue. It about bankrupted Porsche to get it as good as it could be on the 911 engine. I've accepted the Wing will be a big slow underpowered turd bucket. I bought a Yamaha MT-09 in late 2022 as my fun to ride bike, new exhaust, mail in ecu flash other parts and lots of carbon fiber. That simple little hooligan bike brought back to me my youth and essence of riding. Kind of in the market for a K1600 GT for a solo touring bike or get another FJR1300. Keep the Wing as a two up bike for the wife.

If you have a POS Bike or a Car and it's out of Warranty and you want to make a Project out of it, I can understand the flash and other stuff. If you have a fairly new Bike, I see no point of wasting Money. The moment something gets screwed up, Manufacturer will not honor the Warranty. So, 5 more horse power at 1,000 less RPM means nothing to me.

Hello Robert, are you still using the Sena mic with your Ace Pro camera? If yes, the audio is excellent and completely different from last week. As far as Tom’s bike and the ECU flash, I believe the issue is they were not HOLDING the ignition switch in the off position until the screen completely turns off and the BT-Moto tool screen indicates the download has completed. As I’ve already mentioned to Cruiseman in his video, I’ve watched the BT-Moto CZcams video a couple of times and right at the end of the video he explains how you must HOLD the ignition switch in the off position and not just a momentary turn to the left which is what we all do to shut down the engine. I have a 2023 and ordered the kit yesterday morning from Max after doing some research into this ECU flash. I forgot to mention, I just purchased some Klim Outlander GTX boots and I find these more comfortable than my Icon boots. They also have the same lacing system. Cheers, James.
