LACMTA Neoplan 6504 audio recording

This is an audio recording of a 1998 Neoplan with a Cummins L10G and Allison B400R running the 333 along Venice Blvd on 11-16-09. This particular bus #6504 seemed to be in pretty good condition with just a little belt squeal. Look for the picture of the engine bay near the end of the video!

These are some of the busses I see every day here in San Jose, CA. My favorite ones are the New Flyer D60LFs, however the Gilligs are the most abundant.

This video simply illustrates the belt squeal problem these busses seem to have. Also notice the puff of smoke that belches from the exhaust! This is #6516 after we got off in downtown Los Angeles, CA.

This is Neoplan #6516 with a Cummins L10G and Allison B400R. This is parts of a ride on Line 20 along Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles, CA filmed by my friend who was riding with me. You'll notice in this video the belt squealing on the bus whenever the engine fan engages and the bus accelerates. Almost all of these Neoplans operated by LACMTA have this belt squealing problem.

This is a 175w Philips Lifeguard clear mercury lamp from 1986 strobing before warm restrike on a Universal CWA ballast! This is what certain mercury lamps will do upon a warn restrike after a power interruption on a CWA or CWI ballast.

10mins of video from a ride I took on a VTA New Flyer D60LF with a Cummins ISL 330 engine and Allison B500R transmission. This is part of the 22 route along El Camino Real in Palo Alto. Video starts at the Caltrain station by the Stanford Shopping Center.
I miss all these old busses
High floor is the best. Why can’t we just cope with lifts? So much more comfy to ride in. NJ Transit is the only agency that realized this that they customized NABI busses to be high floor.
I’m glad they decided to go to the walk on buses without the stairs because for a while it was just a hodgepodge of different models and you didn’t know which one you were gonna get even though I did like the visual variety.

Are there any difference between the 2004-2005 NABI 45c units and the 2010-2011 45c units?
As someone who grew up to Neoplans on the 305, as well as the 40C-LFW on those Sunday 210 routes, this is like traveling back in time. Rest easy, buses of my childhood.

I miss Neoplan AN440, New Flyer C40HF, NABI 40 LFW, and New Flyer C40LF. Now, We have ENC AXESS BRT, New Flyer Xcelsior XN40, NABI 45C-LFW, NABI 60 BRT, New Flyer Xcelsior XN60, and BYD K9M
