The 1995 ones are being retired. These shown here are the 1998 ones.

Huh. That's interesting. I don't hear the current buses making this noise anymore.

    Orion Vs are nice busses.
The reason these Neoplans have squealy fan belts and loud gearboxes and all that is because the MTA doesn't seem to take the best care of them, probably because they are getting new busses. I really think they should have gone with New Flyer or Orion or Gillig instead of NABI, they all seem better built than the NABI's.
The reason I like those Neoplans so much is mainly because of how they sound with regards to that big exhaust stack they have.

The best day to catch these is on a Saturday, otherwise you have to deal with the new Nabis and old Nabis and wait longer to get a Neoplan.

Well I hope these 1998 models stick around a few more years or so...

Yes I forgot about Van Hool, I do like those, but I also like the Gillig Advantages too. My first choice would be New Flyer, their busses seem well built and able to take abuse like the MTA can dish out on busses.
Speaking of wasting money, makes you wonder why they painted the Neoplans in the current new color scheme and outfitted them with the automatic voice announcement systems and all that if they aren't gonna be around much longer.
