Can you please add manufacturers part numbers on your OSP warehouse website. I looked at some ARP LS head studs but can’t compare without a part number!….. there are many different head stud kits for the LS from ARP.

Typically your cammed manual cnc headed 6 liters reach high 400's pretty regularly I'm thinking the $900 it would of cost to slip a 1287 and a set of lifters would of easily been worth it, especially when you could sell the old cam and lifters on marketplace for a few hundred . Surely there is nothing a ve or vf has that gives an advantage to make more power than a vz.

I always enjoy your comparison videos. I am surprised by the modest hp gain from CNC porting these rectangular heads. Is it a different story with 241 cathedral heads? On a related note, given the amount of experience you have with the 6L platform and the variety of combos tested to date, perhaps you could prepare a summary video of where the biggest and most cost effective gains are across all the commonly available naturally aspirated modification combinations. For example, 1286 vs 1287 vs 1288 and larger cams, factory compression ratio vs high comp pistons, 1-3/4” primaries vs 1-7/8” primaries, 2.5” dual vs 3” dual exhausts, manual vs auto, factory convertor vs hi stall, recommended injector sizing, etc. Obviously, some combos are incompatible and some behave the way you’d expect. I’m keen to see a video like that!

Agreed the VZ are a mix bag, I have owned four now three were V8 and one V6 manual, one was the gen3 manual, l98 auto, l76 auto. my daily is a VZ Crewman l76 auto wanted a manual but hard to find and cost to much for a nice one. DO NOT TRY TO V8 SWAP A V6 JUST BUY ONE. It's not worth it I still have nightmare about it and I have owned that car in 6 years now

L98s were only in utes late 06 onwards

There was no series 2. They changed to the L76 on January 1st 2006 to meet new emissions and there was no point in upgrading the LS1. Also the autos are 4L65 behind the L76, not 60’s. Same auto behind the LS2 in the HSV’s. Utes continued past August 2006 when the VE came out and then the VZ ute was fitted with the L98 into 2007. L76 has the DOD hardware but Holden did not activate it in the ECU for the VZ.

From memory L76's were in VZ sedans and L98's were in VZ Ute's. L76 had displacement on demand but it was disabled in the VZ

The 6l80 in my VF2 was still shitty , became a glitter box after 100k km.

I still very much,have mine...N14 there quick as,4 engine swaps,gearboxes...I ve driven it everywhere...as long as you maintain them,give them they're TLC time..they ll last...though there front wheel drive, make awesome burnouts

I got a later LS1 gen3 5.7L out of a VZ for my ol Holden WB Tonner, its getting a T chain and a cam, the Trunnion bushes up in the rovker arms. New bottom end bearings, A re ring and stuff but it will be just a weekender street meet machine with i belive a bit over 350Hp. I was wantjng to put ths rebuilt muncie M20 behind it. Ive seen this can be done.all going back yo a 10 bolt Salisbury comercial diff with a 3.55 ratio also has been rebuilt. Im not looking for any more power, so ill never see 400 Hp the Muncie should handle it. It will stay injected and remaped ecu on the dyno.

I ordered one the other day turned up was the Topbon 500 it didn’t work on my old commodore Grr but anyway I got in touch with them and said my car was too old for that model I need a AD800BT for my car just want to doublecheck can anyone confirm this as I do not want to buy another one for nothing any help be careful thanks mick

I have the same VZ SSZ ute 2005 5.7 litre. What is a rough cost for an awesome cam and engine and gearbox tune? I bought mine six months ago. It is six speed manual with 2.5 inch cat back exhaust. In central Vic but would love some direction on what to do with this beast. Thanks in advance champions.
