ARMA 3 the best!👊 ARMA 3 with mods is a complete war simulator, SQUAD is not!

just stumbled on this video as zero hour 1.0 update is due for release on august 15th (10 days) which will take the game out of early access. the update will have fixes such as more detailed and realistic weapon sounds, animation detail for rappelling, retextures for current maps, 2 brand new maps, less janky/awkward door mechanics, more realistic responses to player actions from AI with the addition of AI being able to move hostages from one room to another, & a more frequent in-game achievements system so players can claim more rewards from the challenges they complete. personally, i think the customisation in ZH sits right in the "just right" zone, with just enough options to help your gameplay, while not being overwhelmed with so many options that you get lost for 2 hours just making a loadout. i do however, feel like the game lacks challenges and unlockable items. from the get-go, you have everything available at your disposal with no weapons or attachments to unlock based on level progression, they're just available from the second you enter the game for the first time. there are no skins to grind for besides what you can purchase with your earned game currency, which you get a fair amount of per match while the weapon skins are pretty dirt cheap for the currency you earn, so it feels like you don't even have to try to unlock them, they'll just come eventually when u have the currency. i'd really like to see some type of black ops 3 unlocking system, with all guns requiring certain level progression to unlock certain attachments for said weapon, and then skin unlocks based on headshot counts or something like this just to have a reason to play besides killing enemies in missions, because that is literally all it offers right now. i do have high hopes for ZH though, it has a lot of potential if the devs don't decide to give up on it and actually listen to their community.

Zero hour has no DRM so thats really good. Dont know about Ground Branch

Having thousands of customizations doesnt equal fun gameplay. Just means less actual game and map features

Arma 3 is just like Asseto Corsa Competitive of fps. Super realistic, super fun to play but man you need to learn A LOT and play a lot to really enjoy it at its best. (Also, the controls are also pretty confusing but they can be used to)

Honestly buddy you can get the same look in arma as you have in squad can not even really compare the 2 side by side because squad lacks mods. And lacks growth feel like fighting in a based Iraq war with all the equipment used then can do so wanna play ww2 with all that equipment can do so wanna play a modern war Ukraine Russian can do that. Arma allows you to set up pretty accurate war games based off past wars squad dose not. Squad is more for that cod player looking for something little extra, well arma is more that skilled based player looking for a real world shooter with the equipment to back it. As for milsim arma remains the original and have not seen many step up to it as it's in a complete league of it's own and has been used by the military

One thing you didn't mention was that Arma is much more PvE focused than Squad. A big part of arma is doing large scale missions with unique objectives like destroying radio towers and rescuing hostages. I bought Squad but was dissapointed since all the gamemodes were variations of conquest from battlefield and felt way more arcady. I can see why people enjoy it but its just not a the kind of game I was looking for. I think comparing the two games to eachother is a little unfair to both. They have very different experiences

Ground branch is just stupidly unrealistic AI even at lowest difficulty they one shot me out of nowhere

i really enjoy arma 3 just because of the zeus gamemode, sog praire fire, mods, and the editor i have played squad for only a couple of hours during a free weekend, for some reason i ran into some heavy performance and graphics issues (i could see grainy effect in the distance, i had resolution set to my monitor) when i did and it left a bad taste in my friends mouths i dont know why i had such issues with squad because everyone else online seems to have no issues but i never figured it out because again, free weekend

I think both fill different hole imo I own both and with the recent updates to zero hour it's getting really good now!! It's even up there with ready or not now purely because it's less about being ultra realistic and more on the action side without throwing the tactical elements out. Another way of looking at it is ground branch equals ghost recon where zero hour is rainbow six

over 1000 hours with ARMA which is the only game I have played for the past 3 years and I am still learning new features. Squad is a hell of a lot of fun and a fun shooter but it just cant match the complexity and range of possibilities you have in arma. to Laser guiding your own smart bombs from a targeting pod on your aircraft to setting up unmanned stugna missile turrets and ambushing convoys remotely km's away its just on a level of military satisfaction no other game can match in my opinion. and the firefights and sound design are just mwaah. There are literal hundreds of game modes and ways to play due to DLC's and the enormous steam workshop mods. That being said Squad is a close second in terms of milsims but leaves a lot to be desired and gets boring quickly if you're a long time arma player. Oh and it has Vietnam.. enough said

As someone who’s been looking for a good alternative to Battlefront but also suffers from severe social anxiety This game’s gonna kick my ass

With deadside yeah its also not a survival game. It's a looters shooter but more incentive to build a base than scum. It's definitely not easy as you described. You can't clear out harder missions in deadside unless you are fully kitted out and you still probably die. Deadside is fast progression, but fast to lose it. It's about gun fighting, definitely not about survival but it also is not as easy as you made it sound. Go do a convoy alone, you'll have zero chance. Sure you'll have a loadout in 20 minutes and that's why it fun. You can then start taking on harder missions and then as you are fighting that mission a player kills you and takes it all. That is typical deadside

The problem with scum is that the game literally hands you food, water and shelter without have to do anything for it. You can wonder around eating food right from the first and keep your metabolism perfect. Drink any fresh water source without treating it and go to any building to find safety. Yet it's supposed to be an ultra realistic survival game? No it's a zombie looters shooter. I have a major problem with calling scum a survival game.

Zerou hour is great, realism and gameplay wise/multiplayer Ground branch is deffinitly supperior as Zerou Hour is pretty dead, IA imo in Ground branch is better as in both games you are facing terrorists, but something I dont like about ZH is that they tryna push you into following a ROE, wich is not wrong but it forces you to do stuff you shouldnt be able to do. If you are trying to infiltrate a terrorist situation in a stealth way, knowing they are dangerous and ready to kill, ROE changes, you are no longer required to make them surrender nor tell them to get the fuck on the ground, you aren't ingame interrogating them or making them surrender for INTEL as the game doesnt follow a storyline like gameplay. Wich means even if you are trying to play stealth, the game will instantly punish you for killing them without yelling GET DOWN ON THE GROUND wich not only blows your cover, as most of the time AI doesnt surrender, but you still have to spend valuable time waiting for them to fake the surrender stuff (wich is cool a first because they fake then try to shoot then you shoot them) but overtime it becomes notorious that it is literally the only thing they do and becomes boring, besides that in missions where there are bombs or other stuff its just even worse because it becomes annoying, and the game doesnt give you the option to not do this as to unlock maps you require 100 points in both regular and hardcore modes. In ground branch it feels like the AI is more basic because as the game is more realistic, they will literally kill you with one shot, making you play even a slower paced gameplay and more realistic and tactical one to avoid mistakes and being able to do things right. Playing for example to get intel with 50 terrorists in veteran diff (max one) is pretty much impossible, the game is more designed for you to test with friends and where it shines the most is with people that knows how to play a milsim (mainly veterans, police officers etc, playing with that kind of people makes the game amazing) and the community is filled, meanwhile in zero hour the game is pretty much dead and the community tends to be either toxic or not take the game seriously at all wich is stressing if you tryna get 100% in maps (wich also happens in RoN). I love both games, if you have a 4/5 man stack but rather are in more of a casual side play Zero Hour, because it is also cheaper, but if you want the full milsim experience you can just choose to play ground branch, ZH will be fine tho as it has more content. Ground branch AI makes IMO (as someone who plays a lot milsims) the game way more scarier, knowing they can kill you in one shot makes you not only to play more game sense wise aware, but also makes it more realistic knowing the AI is supposed to be mercenaries/terrorists, they will look out for you and appear from everywhere while ZH makes the AI more predictable and they after like a few hours of playing the will do the same thing and you'll realise it

Arma 3 is better.

Big difference: Arma has a lot of single player scenarios, including campaign missions (the most realistic i've seen) or missions mods, apart from the multiplayer. Squad has only multiplayer. Anyway, i love both games. Squad is more like a realistic Battlefield. Arma is more like its unique thing. I would recommend you begin with Squad; it can be addictive. Arma is not for everyone; but is closer to reality.
