Growing & Forcing Belgian Endive *my first attempt!
zhlédnutí 4,9KPřed rokem
This video shows you the extra steps required to grow Belgian Endive. A similar blanching (forcing) process is also used for treviso tardivo too. I definitely want to try it again, and find a better darker spot that averages about 50* F, and grow it in a sunnier bed with only 3 rows per bed at 6'' spacing. Overall, they stored really well in the cooler, some keeping well into springtime (may a ...

My Farm Season In Numbers 2022
zhlédnutí 365Před rokem
Lets tally up the season and quantify what it takes to grow the best darn salads! While I generally love adding up my year end totals I hope you don't think of them as a boast. These are just a glimpse at some of the most fun numbers to add up! I know that these numbers are teeny compared to many farms, and that doesn't matter so much... but what does matter is that I can already see much more ...

Bottom Heated Greenhouse Tables *Electric*

Heated Greenhouse Benches can be a great tool for consistently happy seed germinating and transplant growth. My benches are not just for starting seeds but for maintaining suitable growing conditions without the use of an additional propane heater for the air. Root Zone heating systems are often hydronic- which means that propane or electric is used to heat water and then that hot water transfe...

💯 MARKS. Very useful information, Thanks a lot. You visit Indian site carrot halwa, crush the carrot and cook in milk, add crush walnut and sugar. Children will love it during winter. You can keep for several days during winter. It's a sweet pudding, very healthy. Jay bharat.
I have almost same slope as yours. How did you connect the corrugated metal to baseboard?
Hi Nanette good question. I loosened the brackets that hold the baseboard up two at a time and was able to slip it up behind about an inch and pinch it in there a bit. I secured with a few self tapping screws and the bottom edge is just buried. Let me know if you need a closeup photo or if that makes sense.
Yes, picture please.
Hmm, I took some photos but can’t post them here 🤷♀️
Can i buying this seeds?
I can barely hear, would love to understand you better.
This was exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for making the video!
Awesome!
I live in Meadows of Dan. So, hello neighbor
Hi Neighbor! Hope to cross paths some day!
Kat, excellent report, thank you for you education! I am wondering what variety of Belgian Endive you used and if you are still planning on trying some Tardivo this winter? Our new BINGO variety is so much better than the old TOTEM. I hope you can give it a try and we would be happy to send you sample if you are still doing B.E. this year
I'd consider sneaking it in for another attempt! This was mostly totem and the variety from Seeds of Italy. Lets chat and see what you've got?
Great job❤
How many grams per plant do you get with mâche appx ?
about 500 grams conservatively
Nice green house on the slope .
Excellent video 🌱
Glad you liked it!
Yesss! Love your vids! Beginning to plant winter crops here in the southern hemisphere and am keen to try this!
Happy Growing! Update us on how it goes down south.
Shade cloth also to cut the heat!
You are the first farmer who has tunnel on a slope with perfect pitch. Well explained all the details.
Thank you! Yes, it still feels so pleasing to look at.
Love seeing the end results now I’m hungry ❤️🙏👨🌾
Yay, thats the desired outcome!
Well explained ❤️🙏👨🌾

I LOVE frisee in salads. Yours are beautiful! I haven't been able to find much information on growing it, so thank you for this video. I'm waiting for my seed order to arrive. Excited to try to grow this!
Hi there. Would you share a link for those green totes you use for carrots? Thanks.

thanks :)
wow im always terrible at timing. ill check this out :)
thank you!
thank you :)
love it!
Thanks for sharing your experiences.
gorgeous salad! what do you have in there other than the endives?!
Oh Thanks! I think that had some spinach, endive, tardivo, dill in there. Cold hardy greens have so much good flavor!
This is so comprehensive and thoughtful and generous of you! As a beginning, small scale farmer I cannot say enough how much I appreciate the info!!
I'm delighted it can be of assistance to you! Happy growing!
How is it working 2 years later? Do you have an update video?
going strong, no update video yet... but if there is any specific questions I am happy to answer them! I did have to replace the plastic in the first season because of a BEAR (boo!) and I did add a stronger exhaust fan at the beginning of this season as well as automatic overhead watering which I have really been loving.
Great vid, thanks for the tips. I think too many people rely on grocery stores. Onions can similarly store for months but without refrigeration.
What temperature do you set your Cool bot during the warm outside temps? In the video you mentioned what you do when to cold outside not sure when warmer. Thx
I shoot for 34 degrees generally. In winter I trigger the heater to come on at 33, shut off at 39.
Great video! Tons of details and very easy to follow. Thx I just need a storage cooler now!
Super hot
Very cool first time i have seen this blanching technique Thanks for your video
Love it
Thank u for sharing 😊
Soo good much love 💚
Thank you so much most helpful video of it's kind so far. I am going to build one with the same tools, but I would like to use pea gravel or sand instead of concrete. Did you install the electrical cable on your own or did you get help from an electrician? Was it easy to install?
Very helpful. Thank you!
Oh wow what a great idea
Still one of my favorite tools on the farm!
And all of us garden challenged folks want to thanks you for all your hard work and the healthy food that you provide. Only 90 days until spring.
