Awesome thanks
Very good video thanks.
Good video! I guided in Alaska in the late 80s and this is when I first started tying glowballs..I really liked it when you said there is a difference between a good glowball and a 'shit' glowball! Made me laugh because you are so right! All of us that were guiding were trying to tye the perfect glowball and it was amazing the effort we were putting into this..We finally got it right, I feel. I think the perfect glow ball is one that is somewhat dense like yours, top and bottom. We didnt use the glue underneath, we flipped the fly and tyed another small piece of glowball yarn in and cut. Also today I think I would try the gps threads in 30 or 50 denier..Liked your hack with the thread on the bobbin, I'll have to try that! Thanks!
Great fish and a lovely river
Thanks! Awesome presentation
Terrible casting and bad line control quite shocking really
That when a soft bait would come in handy when like that it's a shame it's only fly rod only when you should be able to take both on the water silly if you ask me but that's NZ regulations for ya lols blame the net 😂good on ya mate cheers for the video
you still making videos?
Are you making anymore vids bro ?
Nice
The Gum Beetle I have heard is a pretty popular fly in parts of New Zealand. Could you tie a couple of versions of their life cycle for us please.??
Hey, I'm looking to do a hike / fishing trip in the north island. Ideally hike up a river and camp in a hut or doco site, fishing along the way. Do you have any recommendations. Potentially even helicopter in, walk out. Cheers
going to give this a crack.
Love the content.
Hi whar size is the Primal rod you use? Thanks John
the most snaggy frigging river I have ever fished, but also one of the most enjoyable. Lovely Kiwi spot, I haven't lived in NZ for 20+ years but this video makes me miss it - love the Hatepe :-)
Great video.. pro tips right there 📸👍😎
Monster hooks on tiny eggs? I wonder about: why does everyone on CZcams use these monster big hooks for these small, tiny eggs? They disturb the smootness of the eggs surface and tend to snag on the bottom. I prefer to mount two windings of Lead wire on a bent hook size 16, so the egg will almost completely hide the tiny hook. The lead will position the hook to guarantee a upright Position in water , which counts for less snagging- its mostly forgotten, that the physics , weight and streaming behavior of Flies in the water is crucial for successful tackle.
Whatever works I say. This is a proven pattern that works well in NZ.
No problems pulling the Strike Indicator through the eyes of the rod when fishing shallow??? Thx for information!!
I have fished that exact spot where you were at the start of video and hooked a beautiful trout
That not it
Some donkies in here mate. Solid video
Most exciting thing I've ever seen. Such much action that it's like watching the Superbowl. 😂
That was a mean as video bro. Is this up past the hatcheries?
Kia ora! I'm from Denmark and currently in quarantine waiting to get out and dreaming of fishing the north island. Do you have any recommendations of where to go? Just river names etc. I've never been here before so any advice would be be greatly appreciated. I'll be located around kerikeri. Nga mihi nui
Nice! I'm surprised you got here! Are you a citizen? Yea sure I'd recommend visiting Turangi which is the home of the Tongariro River. Once your their visit local shops such as the Creel Tackle and Sporting Life who will be more than happy to help you further!
Thanks mate
Good vids. Been awhile though - taken a sabbatical?
Thanks mate. It has been a while. I'm currently in the UK. Will hopefully be back and doing more videos in a couple
Very nice fishing mate,is that a primal raw 6 weight rod?seems to cast nicely, cheers Tim
Thanks! Primal Raw 7 weight. 10 foot
Thanks for that ,also enjoying your fly tying ,just starting to get back into some basic ties .cheers Tim,yea the cat3 flies are great.
Yes the 10 foot rod packs some grunt
Great content thanks bro! Tight loops! 🤘🏻
Awesome! Looking forward to my trip from Oz mainland next March! Love the quick releases; well done!
awesome video.
Good stuff. I want to get a bit into fly tying myself. That would be a good simple fly to get started. Keep those fly tying vids coming.
Hello again.
Hello
Nice bro! You could get that done pretty quick if you wanted too and a good generic
Wow...that's all I can say. Love watching you guys in NZ catch those monsters. I am all in to see what you do in 2021. I supersub'd which means I clicked everything ! Please check out what we do at Overland Pacific Northwest.

Awesome fish for sure mate, thumbs up and regards,, Tony.
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice brown👍
Thank you!
Hi Phil, nice bit of back country river, good choice in your presentation. We have been fishing the T in a few pools below the Blue and found that the naturals in #14 are taking quite well but the wind is very gusty. Tight lines, see you on the river. Harera
Thanks Piere! Yea i don't usually go much larger than #14 at this time of year! The wind was awful today! Luckily I was working not fishing!
@@OnTheFlyNZ Thats luck working,? I am sure that luck is when you are on the river! There are never enough days left in this life not to be fishing. Peter the Apostle was never the same when he left fishing! Harera
Ah man now I'm really itching to get back down there. All your fish were stunning but that big bow was just lovely.
@@CrazyAboutFlyFishing Yea it was an amazing fish. Even more amazing was that it was lacking condition and still that big. I didn’t fully realize it’s size until I got it in the net
Awesome vid man!!!
Glad you liked it!
Awesome just subbed. tight lines!
Nice video mate! I've never done fly fishing before but I enjoyed watching that. Well done of your first Trout too
