  • Here is a video outlining how to make an adjustable strike indicator for fly fishing nymphs. Super sensitive and floats really well.

I use Glo Bug yarn treated like this.
When fishing smaller rivers I just put a half a granny knot in my leader and poke about a 4 inch piece into the half knot and pull tight. To move the indicator up or down I just push both sides of the leader together and it loosen up and then change the depth.
I do like how you tie it in.
Does it wrap around the leader?

No I am yet to have any issues with it wrapping around the leader. It casts well too. I make smaller ones with a small amount of yarn for small rivers and larger ones to hold up more weight for larger ones. I have never used the knot system, has it ever broken your leader from stress of the knot or does it hold strength?

@@OnTheFlyNZ my way has never broken the Glo Bug yarn stop's it from getting tight like a wind knot.

That backing looks quite thick. What sort is it?

I’m not sure the brand exactly. But I’ve started to use mono lately (same thickness of main piece) and works just as well!
