Being one number off isn't "about 1 in 9000" in a fair game. Since you could be off above or below, there are twice as many ways to be off-by-one than there are to be perfect. It's more like 1/5000 if the game is fair.

I know this is an older video, but has there been any effort to make a v1.1 patch for the game that corrects all bugs and errors know about the original? I know there are other efforts into mods that overhaul the game in a more significant way, but it would be nice to have just a fully bug fixed copy of the original game, especially now that the decomp is available. It would also make for a useful starting point for future Paper Mario projects.

Here's one I just found. It can only be done after you get the baby yoshi but before making any progress in Chapter 4. Use the hazard respawn glitch to get to Poshley Heights and read the note on the sanctum door to enter a chapter 7 state. Then go to Twilight Town and ride Yoshi east. The second screen of Twilight Path triggers a Vivian cutscene (I assume), so you see [No Messages].English and get frozen in place. You can still switch partners and use items, but it doesn't help.
