Dake Arbor Press
zhlédnutí 10KPřed 3 lety
I rehab a Dake No.1 arbor press. These are hard to find in this condition. I was actually looking for a Dake No. 1 1/2 ratchet model. This one was my second choice but will work fine and fits the work envelope of my machines. Dake still makes this model but at a much high cost. No more using a vise as a press, which I've been doing for way to long! Thanks for watching! Nephew's Video- czcams.co...
Method Race Wheels 701 - Quigley 4x4 Ford Transit

I make a spare tire mount hub for the new Method Race Wheels MR701 and show the recent 4x4 upgrade! The van drives totally different and better than it did before which was not bad but this is night and day! The new wheels would also be a great upgrade for any 2wd or AWD Transit vans as well with different size tires of course. Thanks for Watching! Check out my Instagram- burtonsa...
Magnetic Block Fixture for Belt Grinding
zhlédnutí 4,6KPřed 3 lety
I make a mag block for holding parts while belt grinding them. These 90lb/40kgs pull magnets where intended for woodworking. Tablesaw stop or Bandsaw fence etc. Normally you would just punch a 30mm hole in a wood block and screw them in. I didn't want to remove that much material so I took a different approach. Because of that the slot are a little oversize so the magnets will fit. Not a super ...
Kurt Vise
zhlédnutí 21KPřed 4 lety
I fit a Kurt DL430 Double Lock Vise on the Rockmill to get better access to the horizontal spindle as well as just over all better results from the machine. This is a very flexible vise in configuration that has a much better work envelope than any of my previous vises. Makes setup very fast and no more clamping large parts to the table and tramming them in. If you can find a deal on one like I...

Navigation Station- GPS and Phone Mount
zhlédnutí 4,1KPřed 4 lety
I make a GPS and phone mount that will work for 2015 to 2019 Ford Transit Vans. I searched for an off the shelf solution that would put the GPS where I want it located on the dash. My search lead to very expensive solutions that still didn't fit the bill. While this is not an easy project it is possible to fabricate the mount with hand tools. This is a prototype so of course I learned a few thi...
Adjustment Hammer
zhlédnutí 24KPřed 4 lety
I make an adjustment hammer out of brass and walnut that is good for adjusting parts into zero on the lathe or tramming the vise on the milling machine. Any task that requires precise tapping/bumping. It's compact with a lot of mass and weighs in at exactly 14oz or 398 grams with the handle. It's 7/8ths of a pound. Funny how things work out sometimes. 4" square brass starting out became a 1" x ...
Rockmill Custom X Axis Power Feed
zhlédnutí 45KPřed 4 lety
I convert a commonly available Bridgeport style power feed to fit on the Rockmill. I have searched for over a year to find the original Rockwell power feed and that appears to be a rare item indeed. Never have used the original power feed unit but this one works great even being the lowest power unit available. Happy to complete this one as I'm cranking a whole lot less now! Thanks for watching!
Revolving Carriage Handle
zhlédnutí 19KPřed 4 lety
Happy New Year! I make a revolving carriage handle for the Rock Lathe to replace the original not so hand stress friendly fixed handle. The new handle makes moving the mass of the carriage much easier and reduces hand fatigue. Jogging the carriage back and forth all day is enough work much less the high friction fixed handle.

Looking at buying one of these next week, I think your videos will be invaluable =)
EXCELLENT VIDEO - THANK YOU!
I found this video 5 years later, but no joke I’m buying a 25-100 soon that definitely needs some work but everything seems functional on it, for a whole 200$ or the guy said it’s going in the scrap bin 😂
Hey boss. Any thoughts on this tool post after 5yrs? You happy with it or what changes would you have made?
18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81, 90. Good to know your multiples of 9 with this tool. 40 positions out of 360 is 9 degrees for each position. I wish it was 5 degrees for each step.
Definitely a machinist
Careful using gloves around a turning spindle.
Super clean. Well done.
Did you use lube on seatpost? That will cause creaking no matter what post is used with out it. Nice looking setup there. What floor material did you use? Is it dove tailed or finger jointed? What was the reasoning/benefits of methodology?
Do you not realise how dangerous it is to wear gloves while opening a lathe, and you are touching the rotating part with those gloves, absolute stupidity. Oneday you'll get your hand ripped off.
I appreciate the sharing of information and lessons hard learned. Happy Milling Drying Creating!!!
Great video on the Rockwell 11 inch metal lathe .I’ve got the same lathe and I have a sloppy cross slide brass nut and cross slide bolt I have no idea of where I can get such parts .ls there anything that you can help me with I would really appreciate it I only have a CAT no. It’s FK102503 , No other numbers visible .
What type of paint did you use? Im getting ready to restore a rockwell lathe.
There was a very similar-looking lathe made in Boston with a similar name plate; "A.J. Wilkinson & Co."
Did you buy the seat from the Ford dealer?
This is instructive installation if you have a machine shop in your garage (and those skills). Can I pay you to install one in my gasoline sprinter?
Beautiful work!
The tail stock wrench for the rockwell/delta wood lathe fits on the metal lathe tail stock as well, still not widely available but there is a few on ebay at the moment.
Thank you for showing the pin wrench for the spindle collar, just got mine in today.
The end mill left a really nice pattern on the compound!...
What a beautiful job! This is great inspiration for the abused mill I just bought.
great information. i'm currently converting my 1940's wood lathe from a 12 speed belt drive to vfd
I use an original and have always wondered why they chose the odd angle increment of 9°
Great milling machine, exelent ribuilt!!
I watched this whole series on you restoring this machine and I enjoyed it so much I'm watching it again! I just can't believe you got that for $103!! Especially for a vertical/horizontal mill!! Thank you for making this great content my friend!...
How has this heater held up since your initial video? I am considering ordering but a bit nervous of the price , just wanting to make sure it’s a good one!
Do you discuss why you decided to not paint the entire lathe ?
It's only original once.
Some attic
Pardon my ignorance, I’m no machinist. I see you using the same collet for milling and for drilling with the larger bits. What kind of collet is that?
DA180
Cá Lem is a wizard
Where do you get your surface conditioning angle grinder wheels? I'm having a hard time finding ones that big. Thanks!
Hey do a search for scotch brite wheel, there are so many kinds now it's not even funny!
I have enjoyed your videos on the Rockwell lathe. The lathe we had in high school was just like it; that was 1972. You do a good job with your videos and have a great shop!
Thanks Rick, Rockwell sold a lot of machines in the government sector. Glad to bring back a memory!
what size of drive screw rivets did you use on the data plates?thx
I don't recall exactly. I think less than an 1/8, Best thing is to gauge the plate mount hole and go from there.
I was able to interpret your exceptional video and install a power feed on my Rockwell mill. I am a relative newbie to machining. Prior to this project I hadn't: bored to a precise diameter; cut an interior keyway or even heard of a woodruff key. So, it was quite a journey, but I was so elated when I got the axis to move, I felt the need to thank you and express my appreciation for your fine work I deconstructed the limit switches. They are conventional NC momentary switches. I have some DRO stuff in the way, So I bought two panel-mountable momentary pushbutton switches and I'll design and build a housing that will work. Anyway thanks again for the inspiring video!
Great Mark, happy to hear it. I like that you said you deconstructed the video! I remember comments on this video that it was too long and hard to follow. Glad you figured it out. Make sure all you adjustments are correct so you don't bined!
Very nice
Dear Sir, maybe I still not seen all your videos. I have question I see on your jaw lathe used proximity sensor. I want to know the purpose and can send me detail infor of control box including components used for it?Thank you your respond.
You think the floors on these would be universal with the passenger vans aka parts would bolt right in.
What type and size of rivets did you use on the data plate?im currently restoring almost the same type lathe, thx
Great video and info. Sir let me ask would it be possible to put enough seats in there to fit nine people? Like kids? Thank you
Buy a passenger model....
Hey Burton, great videos. I'm almost finished rehabbing my 21-100 and have a question for you. Did you remove the step pulley from the motor? If so, was it difficult to put back on? To me it seems like an interference fit and I'm thinking I'll have to heat the pulley to get it back onto the motor shaft but am looking around for wisdom before going that route. Thanks.
Hey Ray- Yes I did. The vert motor has a set screw thru one of the pulley grooves. The horz is press fit but is strong enough to handle a three jaw pulley. I general with step pulleys if it's difficult to come off you need a fixture/collar type setting up with a puller to get it off without causing damage to the pulley. If the pulley material is thin don't use a three jaws!
@@BurtonsAttic hmmm ok. I got the pulley off (with *much* persuasion, which I figured was just corrosion effects) but can't get it back on. May have to get it reamed out a tad.
@@Ray-tl7pg press back on or a little heat, no ream
@@BurtonsAttic in case you're curious: turns out the motor shaft was a bit mushroomed (0.003"). I'm surprised that happened since when I was hitting it with a drift to separate them, the shat was always inside the pulley. But whatever, sanding down the shaft and also cleaning up the pulley bore with a 5/8 reamer (by hand) has corrected the fit. Now to figure out why the forward contactor circuit stopped working last night...
After all that and you don't show it being assembled... *face palm*
Slow going that was
You can deflate the tire, then it just squeezes up....Put a strap around it to secure it fully....Not a problem with the tire being deflated, and use a cheap electric tire pump that goes to 100 psi if you need it.. Just another option if people don't wish to relocate the spare..
Do you know what size the ball oilers are on the saddle and a good place to find them?THX
I think it's 5/16 by comparing one that I have. Didn't take it out. I post 2 each on eBay if you want them. www.ebay.com/itm/234976077140 thanks
Love the videography
Hey there, are you ok? Haven’t seen anything posted for a very long time, have you quit your channel? Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺
Brilliant 👍👍👍
How do you add/check the oil level in the oil reservoir on the apron? I have the manual for the Rockwell 11 and it isn't obvious.
The spring loaded pull out apron fill is near the bottom left on my apron. Under the hand wheel. You pull it and insert an oil can nozzle and fill. You can’t overfill it because the excess will spill over the side.
can you provide a link to the Install Manual?
It appears Create Tool is no longer on Ebay.
I've been wanting one of those ever since I seen Adam's video on it. He should contact them and set up a booth machine shop version. He is selling so many of them post with his content. Great little review/ overview man. I just ordered the plain old quick change square block aloris knock off. Just can't seem to muster up the gull to spend that much on a tool post.... 😔
