Jeff came in and the vlogs stopped. Coincidence?

The biggest problem in my opinion was that the ending wasn’t bittersweet. At least not for me. Want to kill off the main character? Fine (at least make it cool and worth while). But you have to give the readers hope after making such a devastating thing happen. Like fast forwarding to Tobias living a quiet life in his old age and seeing Tris come to take him home, like her mother did for her. That would have made me cry beautiful tears. Not tears of hopelessness and despair. Instead we are left feeling like Tobias lived the rest of his life carrying a constant dull ache in his heart. He didn’t deserve that. And in all honesty Caleb should have sacrificed himself. Then he could have had a worthwhile redemption arc and he would showed that he learned from Tris how to be truely selfless. His volunteering should have happened not out of guilt but out of determination to redeem himself and to die honourably like his parents did for the greater good. Tris had a future. Caleb should have given his life so Tris could have hers. That would have been true selflessness.

I really hope you come back to discuss your writing and submissions (no matter how it’s going)! I miss your vlogs so much!

Maybe the producers wanted to split the Allegiant book up into two movies because they don't want to kill Tris's character, but it got cancelled 5 years ago...

I did not feel the same way you did about this particular book. The red flags were very disturbing to me. It might be where I’m at in life, but I couldn’t overlook the fact that the Male Interest abducts the Heroine (whose personality was also off-putting the moment she’s abducted) and despite repeatedly denying her her freedom with physical restraints, somehow becomes the person she loves and trusts most? Yikes. 😬
