Really fascinating video! Thanks so much for sharing 😊
The song isn't from the 80s, its from 2017
One thing i do know about Sears, they sell good tools,& lawn mowers
I grew up on the east side. What I really miss is the southwick mall. I hear that they tore it down not to long ago
Lansing, Michigan had a standalone store. Only one in the city. Neither of our malls ever had one.
With a "Target stuck in the late 80's" title, you'd better have Jennifer Connelly in the video somewhere! 😍 Just a shame you didn't show her on the mechanical ride. That "Prestige" worker at 1:09 is part of the cleaning crew. I guess the company has a big contract with Target because they clean the store where I used to work at in Texas. *Jennifer Connelly cameos:* 4:26 5:16 6:21
Can you imagine if SEARS comes back?
Sears was the first store that I got credit with back in the late 70s, had them put ball joints, tires and alignment on my 74 Charger, that was in Ashtabula OH...!
this building is in good shape from what i can see of it inside and outside. what a shame Sears is no longer with us.
Got a new battery for my first car at this sears, Circa 1983.
I used to visit this store. It was a few miles from my home where I grew up in Toledo. Today I live in Colorado. Thanks for the flash back.
you can blame the internet for all of this.
There is a US mailbox near one of the doors. Do they still pick up mail there?
Sear's was a store be for it's time. It had every thing from soup to nut's. Your old screw driver was worn out drop the old one grab your new one. Die hard batteries were great tires the best price. Sad to see it now just a memory 😢
There is an abandoned Sears in Livonia, MI also.
That was so exciting I couldn’t catch my breath.
Thanks for a walk down memory lane. Thankfully Craftsman Tools are still around.
Are there products in the store....?? ?? That would make it interesting 🤔....
Sears employees were the biggest fault of sears failing, they had some good employees, but the bad ones outweighed the good ones and there snotty attitude Sent customers to other stores, sears just couldn't hire competent employees. Too bad because it was once the giant of department stores
😢
Wow I remember spending my first paycheck there in the 80s when I was a teenager fast times and wonderful memories 🙏😔
had sears and macy's stock. After the stores folded I made a fortune on the sales of real estate holdings
There car care was the worst brought my car in for service next. Thing there telling me my wiper motor needs replacing when there was nothing wrong with it when I Questioned them they tried to tell me it was already broken brought it to my own mechanic just happened to call for parts for the wiper motor and it seems the place where he gets his parts sears called over there looking for the same thing for the same vehicle went back to see the manager told him what happened and he refunded me my money never went back there again
This is the future of everything
I've been to that one when it was open
JC Penny the underdog is still alive👍
Akron, Cleveland and Toledo are 3 of the poorest 10 US cities.
Awesome video! i miss sears! The good old days!
We used to shop at Sears and Montgomery Ward all the time..great memories
I grew up in Lincoln Park Michigan. we had a standalone store also. the last thing I bought there were 4 tires for my car. still miss Sears - K- Mart and Radio Shack.
It's simple: Arrogance, greed, stupidity and Eddie Lampert. Lampert helped lampoon what was left of Sears and then got rich by selling off the brick and block buildings for the land profit. When Sears filed for bankruptcy, Lampert made himself the primary reciever and got even richer. American greed at its finest. May he rot in hades.
Each generation loses quite a few things. This was one of those
I grew up shopping at this very store with my grandma. Great video.
I'm not in Ohio, but was a great video and narrative. I bought my first mower and vacuum cleaner from Sears in 1990. I still can't believe they're gone. 😢
Honestly other than a Walmart what can this property be? Rip them all down and build condos. Where I live in San Leandro we have a mall very similar and I am sure most people can say the same. They would make more money to sell the land and build housing since our population probably doubled in the last 10 years.
Sears could have evolved into what Amazon became, in addition to keeping it's many stores. Sears had their huge catalog for decades.
So sad.. when the catalog was stoped it was begging of the end. They always tried to do everything right . After the kMart takeover right to the toilet they went! Worked for them many years in the late 70’s . Was good than to their employees.
Eventually many things we take for granted right now will be gone!
I used to live near there and was in this store a lot. I rode those escalators and bought many things there.
It will be interesting to see in the future what popular stores today will no longer be and perhaps the next abandoned video of the memories of that once flourishing busniess. Personally i really think amazon is in a downward spiral with ali express now and the questionable poor customer service. Amazons money back polcies are a hassle on lost items etc we never got our $ money back on a lost item and read many complaints about this in the last year.
Was one of my favorites store. I miss it
They just finished demolishing the last Sears here in LA.
DAMN YOU CHINA FOR CLOSING OUR BELOVED SEARS AND ALL OF OUR GREAT STORES. DAMN YOU CIHNA FJB!!!! FBO!! FMO!!! FKH!!!! F CHINA!!! FHK the CLintons started CHINVILLE making LEvis and Lee jeans back in whenthey got into the White hHouse- that was hte beginning of hte END for our beloved USA made products! FHC FBC!!!!
The lifetime guarantee on some items killed sears
We also have an abandoned SEARS store about 5 blocks from our house..they built a Walmart grocery store in the parking lot..Unfortunately they closed the TARGET store across the street also.We shopped at both stores when I was in middle school,I’m almost 59 now 😢
I miss Sears. Back in the 60s-70s they had just about everything you needed. My uncle worked at the Oakbrook, Illinois store. Back then they had knowledgeable and helpful employees. Seems like they began their downhill slide when their auto centers began ripping off people. Then they started hiring unhepful sales people and changed to those centrally located cash registers. I don't recall ever seeing a Sears that was not in a mall. It's a shame they failed and a shame that the malls are failing.
The younger generation today probably doesn't know who Sears Roebuck was, or Montgomery Wards😂😂😂
I miss this Sears! It's an empty lot now :(
America is disintegrating. Blame regulations, unions, and outsourcing.
The Big Toy Box at Sears!
