The only way it could come back in todays day and age would be if they were a streaming service, or maybe a movie store/ movie and video games collectibles and memorabilia store as well. In addition to the streaming service.
I could imagine block busters selling retro collectibles like ghost buster action figures, a slimer plushie, Disney memorabilia old and new, or maybe like old school James Bond collectibles.

I didn't notice much "vintage" about it except the neon and the cafe. I hope this gets an upgrade soon. A Target isn't a Target anymore unless it's a SuperTarget, IMO. Sometimes, I fall on the side of "If it isn't broken, then don't fix it," but not in this case. Target needs grocery and Starbucks. 😄 My SuperTarget, prior to pandemic, had Starbucks, grocery, deli, bakery, and the cafe. The cafe did close in 2020. I assumed because of lack of sales. I never really saw it busy even before Covid though. I bought something from there a year or two ago, and was highly unimpressed. Just some microwaved garbage. Don't even remember what it was, and it took them forever to make it. I'd rather grab something fresh and packaged from the deli section. Someone mentioned ICEE slurpees - I can get those from Subway at Walmart, if I'm in the mood for that.

They really ramped up renovations in the past few years but thankfully COVID seems to have stalled that. The neon lights, the contrasting colours and the strong bold text on the aisle signs reminds me of many a day spent wandering around supermarkets in the early 2000's. Everything had its own unique identity at this time, and since then, I feel like a lot of the chains have unified their design styles, making them feel less unique. This is some seriously cool footage - it's great to see a visual preservation of the area before it was brought up to date.

I was in high school in the 90s and across the street from my high school was a burger and malt shop that was built in 1962. My middle school was right behind the high school and I had to pass it to walk home. So all through middle school and high school I was stop at the malt shop and get burger, basket of fries and a milkshake before going home. It was like something out of the 60's complete with a soda jerk where I would sometimes order a cream soda with chocolate or a root beer with vanilla. Unfortunately, a couple years after I graduation high school they converted into some kind of store. Almost 100% of their customers were kids, and the owner told me the kids respected the place and never trashed it. I remember how proud us kids were of having that place right across from our school. It was like a nice, clean, wholesome place we could hang out that looked like something out of Happy Days or Grease.

the cat bus is either 50c or $1 on the regular routes and takes you all around, and it has a stop right in front of the kmart ( if u call in advance a day or two early & pay $2 they’ll pick you up at your door & drop you off anywhere in town, during the summers there’s a trolley that runs the same route but for free as well!).

The Target I go to in my hometown, they started to modernize the store around 2015. I was still able to enjoy a nice drink and popcorn when I was around 8-9 years old back in 2010 before they started refurbishing the designs, the carpets, etc.. Now what's left is a sad, but convenient Pizza Hut Express. I never really bought anything there, and since the pandemic I don't think Pizza Hut Express really kept up to their demands. Which is why I believe that too may go out of business and become a memory of what was once a thriving Target.

It was oddly attached as an anchor in our brand new mall that opened at the same time. But I lived in such a small area that it was the first Target within an hour’s drive of us. Target at the time was so much cooler to me than say, Wal Mart. They actually felt nice, and almost modern or pop culture-like. But I vividly remember walking in an, like another commenter here mentioned, smelling popcorn from the cafe. And I’d spend a long time looking in the electronics section, and checking out video game stuff. They always had those playable kiosks there for systems like the SNES, Genesis, and Game Boy.
