This happened to me after COVID and Lock Down you could not drive. My Toyota hybrid would not start getting a jump start did work but quickly died as the engine would switch off. after start I had to switch on the AC so the engine would keep running and then a good 7 mile journey fix the problem.

I scanned the QR code and the app fails to link to the vehicle. I even tried the 8 digit number as an alternative and it comes up to the same thing. I already have a profile and a PIN set up. This is for a used vehicle I just bought so as a result I can't delete the previous user as they were the primary driver so I'm stuck as either a second driver (that is not primary) or as a guest. I can't do the factory reset either, it is greyed out.

Am I the only one that watches movies in the car on a huge tablet for the surround sound??

They do make a model with a rear camera. That is when you use the trim removal tool. There is also an on optional power cable for parking mode. I have a dual camera system in my 2022 Camry and 2024 RAV4. Love it.

If your trying to connect the app on your phoneto the car. Toyota only accepts 1 account per VIN number. Once I login under my wife's id the app worked on my phone and connected to the car.

Apparently it's not made for 2024 Rav4 Prime. But my question is, if the onboard camera installed as part of OEM, why would I need or want to replace it with a third part accessory? Isn't the onboard doing the same thing? I guess one advantage would be that one could more easily extract the data from it in a more immediate manner? I'd like an accessory camera that monitors motion around the car, such as in the case of attempted break-ins. Any ideas?

Thanks Steve, I enjoy all your videos. Since most salesman aren’t very good at instructing us on details of tech features I always check your videos for advice. I’ve been considering a camera like this for my 24 Prius and this looks like a fine alternative. Probably would have paid for the optional one on delivery but it was never mentioned.

Thank you very much for this explanation. Obviously, it would be good if we could decide if this daylight functionality operates by sensor. There are many countries where headlights/running lights and tail lights are required at all times when driving.

Am i correct in saying this is more suited to when theres predominantly one primary driver ? Or on longer trips if car is shared?

idiots, the "Alert" system could be made using sounds that are less obnoxious. This fucking sound is like grinding a bottle cap on the concrete floor-idiots, why should I hear the noise after noticing it?

Hahaha....so we humans created noise in a advanced tech vehicle, because we are used to it? What next? Make these advanced vechiles to emit CO2? (Because our politicians are used to it?)

Great video. No fluff, just helpful and to-the-point instruction. This helped me solve my issue. My dealership couldn't explain how my auto headlights worked either (didn't explain about the sensor. I'm disappointed though that they don't work like my 2020 Prius. The auto headlights setting there allowed the lights to be on during the day and turn off around one minute after I turned the car off.

Hi Steve, successfully added a 2nd profile to a RAV4, but the name of the profile is blank even though it is in the Toyota App. Happened multiple times. Any suggestions?

My wife's account and app worked perfectly at the dealership. My question is, can there be two separate accounts/phones connected to the vehicle in this way?

Mine shows the reset option. I was able to get the QR code to pop up, and then it VERY briefly shows “open your Toyota app…” then suddenly switches to “Something went wrong. Please try again.” every single time I tried the tips you gave. Any other insight? (In the meantime I called the 800 number and they’re supposed to call me back Monday.)

So does turning the driver recording off and the driver monitoring assist off does that disable your traffic jam and lane assist and all that stuff as well or will I still be able to use those with the driver record and alert off? Thanks 😊

Hi Steve, are you feeling anything on the pedal when depressing the brakes? I drive '24 new Rav4 Hybrid and I feel something on the pedal when approaching a full stop, possibly transition of regen braking to brake pads, but am i supposed to feel that like shifting feels on the pedal. Its annoying, i compalined this to toyota service twice and tested but they said its normal.

You missed one; the headlights turn on when the wipers are on if the headlights are on auto.

this is the stupidest shit ever i have Ford pass and it doesnt have any “ personal” info i can see the location of my truck vin gas or anu alerts why tf is toyota making this so complicated

These are not hidden features. These are features behind a paywall. There is no reason that the dealer has to do this. Most people want to try a feature, and if they don't like it, then they want to be able to switch it back easily. Think about the settings customers get. You have the option to reset them or change them. Some of these hidden features appear to be replacing another, and once enabled, the original way no longer works, so going back to the dealer is a requirement. I actually read my 2024 Prius manual. I went to the dealer and told them had I known a feature was available and not activated, I would have not bought the car (auto roll down of all windows via the remote). They did it for me for free. My car only had like 400 miles on it at the time. It took about 30 minutes. I think ALL these pay to play features once enabled should be added to the context menus along with all the standard stuff. I might pay an hour for thatadditanl function, but I'm not paying for each one and the cost to roll back the change if I don't like it and want my old options back. This is bad for customer relations.

Apparently, it's not applicable to hybrids because their engines start/stop all the time. I agree, this is an annoying "feature". Funny that 40 years ago in a far-far-away land, there was a system that automatically shut fuel delivery when the vehicle was moving and gas pedal released thus providing extra engine braking power and saving gas. Gas supply would automatically restore and engine start when RPM dropped below 1000. Having constant stop/start using a regular starter is not smart - unlike hybrids that don't have a stater per se, a normal starter would not last long.

Ridiculous. A couple Mazda models don't have it. Imagine paying more than 60K for a car that randomly dies. It doesn't save the individual any gas and cost you more in repairs. It's by design. I have a 2023 Toyota Crown hybrid. The ECO on the speedometer indicates I’m running on battery. Even driving the same speed, say 15 mph, eventually, the battery gets low enough the gas engine kicks on to recharge it. So, the ECO indicator on the speedometer of a gas car probably acts differently to a the same indicator on a hybrid.

I learned how to turn on audio for navigation after accidentally turning it off. If you’ve already gone through this kindly disregard this. In the upper right hand corner in Google Maps are Icons for speaker on/off that only appears for about three seconds when turning maps on. It was easily missed by me unless I looked for it. You can make the speaker icon appear by tapping the screen while in maps and then hit the icon on button and all is well again.
