Dear Steve, congratulations for your high communication skills: you are simple, direct and useful!
Great video. No fluff, just helpful and to-the-point instruction. This helped me solve my issue. My dealership couldn't explain how my auto headlights worked either (didn't explain about the sensor. I'm disappointed though that they don't work like my 2020 Prius. The auto headlights setting there allowed the lights to be on during the day and turn off around one minute after I turned the car off.
really needed this I’ve ad trouble with my automatic headlights and even read the Manuel an couldn’t find it fast enough. Problem was I forgot you could move the stick forward and back and I’ve had it on full blast this whole time 😭
Thank you very much for this explanation. Obviously, it would be good if we could decide if this daylight functionality operates by sensor. There are many countries where
headlights/running lights and tail lights are required at all times when driving.
Well, you were so correct. I thought I knew the way the different light options worked, but it turns out I only knew the basics. Thanks again.
Thank you Steve you are one Kool dude!!
I've searches everywhere trying to figure out why my headlights are on during the daytime when in the auto mode in my 2024 RAV4. I would think you don't need headlights when the sun is shinning & only would need the long narrow LED light above the headlight which I thought was the running light.
Good explanation! 👍👍
On auto technically the headlights are always on. They just call them DRLs. Since its LED they use the head lights as DRL but gives it less voltage so its dimmer. When switched to normal head lights its given full voltage.
The big thing is actually the taillights. DRL means your car is visible from oncoming cars but vehicles behind you have a hard time in rain, fog and low light conditions.
@TrainerSteveClifford thats what the parking light is for it turns on all the outside lights but doesn't give full voltage to head lights. Yeah, in the dark head lights should be on.
Thank you, very helpful. I just want to clarify though - if you have it in Auto plus the extra headlights button On, will that turn on your high beams automatically or just the low beams?
Auto on the stalk plus three green button on the dash will turn on the lights automatically plus toggle on the high beams when needed
excellent video. Have a question. I have a 2013 Toyota RAV4 & recently my battery died & was replaced. For some reason the automatic headlights setting no longer works. I can find no info on how to restore the setting! Can you offer any insight/ solution?
Yikes. Unfortunately, I don’t have any ideas on that one.
How do I correct the ‘No Message’ indicator on the Multi Info Display of my Toyota Corolla? Will appreciate any useful suggestions
I’m not sure what you mean. “No messages” means there are no warnings, problems, fuel situations or required maintenance concerns. Messages only appear when there is a problem or concern
Turning on the wipers makes my headlights come on after 5 seconds, if I am in auto headlights. So, I never have to turn on my headlights manually, even during rain. I have a 2023 Highlander Limited. Do all Toyotas not do that?
They don't all do this and I'm not 100% sure what you're seeing isn't coincidental. It might be that the low light of the rain storm is also enough to cause your automatic headlights to come on. I don't have any documentation that the automatic wipers are in any way linked to the headlights. I'm not saying it is impossible, but I can't find anything that shows it.
Thanks for responding... It's in the 2023 Highlander owner's manual, page 211 "Windshield wiper linked headlight illumination". It's not immediate... takes about 5 seconds for the headlights to come on. That is so they don't flash on if you just temporarily operate the wipers one time in a mist. Yes, I know you can tap the wiper stem upward for a single wipe, but many people do not realize this and may turn them on just long enough for one wipe. At that time the lights do not come on. Even the intermittent wiper setting turns on the headlights after 5 seconds. @@TrainerSteveClifford
@@jack8356 Nope... it's in the owner's manual. page 211.
All new Toyotas do that. My 2020 corolla was like that
I have a 2024 Se corrola. I would like to have the drl lights on during day without the big bulb on,is that possible?
