    How to train this muscle

    • @blackriverbootsmaeducation
      @blackriverbootsmaeducation Před dnem

      You can strengthen this muscle shoulder flexion and adduction motions. Raising your arm at the shoulder up and in so your elbow is in front of your eyes with free weights. Or with cables or bands bring your arm/ shoulders across your body trying to touch your elbows together in front of your chest.

    So the teres major muscle from its origin to the front of the humerus is all palpable? Like at what point on the scapula are you not palpating the muscle, is it right at the posterior axillary fold crease and same situation with the lat? I just don't understand how they end yp at the front of the humerus and the latissimus muscle actually becomes anterior to the teres major.

    • @blackriverbootsmaeducation
      @blackriverbootsmaeducation Před dnem

      Honestly this is a very challenging question to answer through text. The origin and majority of its belly is easily palpable until it start to go into the axilla near triceps. Often teres major and lats are fascially attached to each other. They will become very challenging to palpate as the pass deep to the brachial plexus, coracobrachialis and biceps short head. At this point you are vaguely palpating it. Teres stays posterior to Lats as the go forward and therefore is on the medial lip of the bicipital groove vs lats going further into it. Please look up a picture of the two muscles inserting together and I suggest an anatomy app so you can see the brachial plexus and circulatory system near there insertion too.

  • @GoodByeSkyHarborLive

    So when you stick your hand under the axilla its pretty much just the subscapularis in terms of main muscle that is there. The teres and latissimus are not.

    • @blackriverbootsmaeducation
      @blackriverbootsmaeducation Před dnem

      As you first approach the axilla you will feel Lattissimus and Teres major, lats is more anterior. You will need to go past the first musculature to sink into the actual subscapular fossa to feel subscapularis. Unfortunately they all do medial rotation so hand placement will be key to know you are in the correct area. I often pull the inferior angle of the scapula out towards me (upward rotation) to gain more access to the fossa.

    • @blackriverbootsmaeducation
      @blackriverbootsmaeducation Před dnem

      I believe you are asking if tight biceps femoris can cause external rotation of the thigh? It may, but it it more likely coming from the gluteal area. Muscles like piriformis or the gemellus muscles with glutes may be the cause of turned out feet.

      @@antoniobasile6286 ah gotcha. Yes checking the muscle length specifically to form a treatment plan based on that. While we lengthen the muscle, the end-feel might give us clues on what the problem might be, at what level, as in tendon or fascia or skin itself or even maybe the joint is the problem. I hope it makes sense.
