Can you train the cervicis with cervical extension only or do you need to add rotation? Many thanks

To specifically target the splenius cervicis muscle, incorporating rotation exercises can be beneficial, as this muscle plays a role in both rotation and extension of the neck. However, if your goal is to emphasize extension movements only, it's not strictly necessary to include rotation exercises.
It's important to perform these exercises with controlled, smooth movements to avoid any strain on the neck. If you have any existing neck issues, consult with a healthcare professional before adding new exercises to your routine. Balancing your workout to include various movements (extension, rotation, and even lateral flexion) can contribute to overall neck strength and flexibility.

Hello!! I hope you guys can help me. Due to high stress I had knots that made my face look very weird. With massages I have been able to kinda get it how it was before but I’m afraid that my muscles don’t feel the same. Around my temples and ears I feel constant pressure. My cheeks sometimes feel as if something is pulling them. It’s there anyway I can get in contact with you guys for a consult? I live in Miami. If not, How do I look up someone who’s in the same field? Anyone you recommend? I would really appreciate your help 🙏🏼 thank youuuu

We are glad to hear that you've found some relief through massages, but it's understandable that you're still concerned about the ongoing issues with facial muscle tension. While we can't provide personal consultations or specific recommendations for healthcare providers, we can guide you on how to find a suitable professional in your area, particularly in Miami.
      1. **Search for a Specialist:** Look for specialists who deal with facial muscle tension, such as a physical therapist, an osteopath, or a massage therapist with experience in facial therapy. You might also consider seeing a neurologist or a pain specialist if the issue seems related to nerves or chronic pain.
      2. **Check Credentials and Reviews:** When you find a potential specialist, check their credentials, qualifications, and patient reviews. This can often be done through their personal or clinic website, or on platforms like Healthgrades or Zocdoc.
      3. **Ask for Referrals:** If you have a primary care physician, they can be a great resource for referrals to specialists in your area. They might know professionals who have a good track record with similar issues.
      4. **Consider a Multidisciplinary Clinic:** Some clinics offer a team approach, with different types of therapists and doctors working together. This can be beneficial for complex issues involving muscle tension and pain.
      5. **Use Online Directories:** Websites like the American Physical Therapy Association or the American Massage Therapy Association have directories where you can search for qualified professionals in your area.
      6. **Insurance and Practical Considerations:** Make sure to check whether the specialists are covered by your insurance plan. Also, consider the location and availability of the therapist or doctor to ensure they fit your schedule and location preferences.
      7. **Prepare for Your Visit:** When you book your appointment, be ready to describe your symptoms in detail, including what alleviates or worsens them, and any treatments you've already tried.
While these steps can help you find a suitable professional, it's important to continue any self-care practices that you find helpful, like managing stress, maintaining a healthy diet, and staying hydrated. Remember, the right specialist will not only provide treatment but also guide you on how to manage and prevent future issues.
