What I dislike is that i love the perks of the explorer card, but my monthly spend aligns with the Gateway card. I need a cagetory for gas for my setup. Also, if you're a MileagePlus member, and you purchase an economy ticket or above, you get 7x miles by booking with the gateway card. More if you qualify for an upscale card.

Why I dont to travel as much as I want to, I still get value from my Skymiles Platinum card since I almost always travel with Delta. I only wish they had more/better points categories. A 1.5% cashback multiplayer vs just 1% on everyday purchases could justify that $350 annaul fee alone

Good video. However, You are totally mistaken on one detail. 11:54. The Delta Companion Certificate (from either card) are fully transferable. Any two Delta SkyMiles members may be booked for the passengers for the use of either certificate.

I have both and can say I net positive value from both. CSP is easier to net positive value with, but if you're a foodie, the Gold card is easy enough to use for pickup or delivery (Uber benefit stacks well with SavorOne benefit of Uber One)

Both cards are worth it if they have elevated sign up bonuses, since the yearly fee is easily offset by the bonus you still end up positive if you try the card for a year or two and find out you dont use it enough to get enough value out of it. For long term use, the CSP is a lot easier to offset the yearly fee due to normal use, but still not perfect. Almost all of the point categories overlap with other free Chase cards, so the CSP doesnt really give you more rewards, you just pay $95 a year for a few minor travel benefits and to convert the cashback you already earned on the free Chase cards to points for travel redemptions. For the Gold card, since a lot of the Amex Gold credits require you to spend money you normally wouldn’t, its not really offsetting the annual fee but moreso its pre-paying toward future purchases that you now feel like you have to make. Most of which cost more than the $10 monthly credit from the card, so instead of saving money you pre-pay the $10 in the form of the $250 yearly fee, then pay even more at the tome of purchase to get your burger or pizza or whatever you use the dining credits for. Unless you already use uber/grubhub every month, or find amex offers to stores you would have already gone to, the Amex Gold credits arent saving you any money at all and the card will cost you more than the C1 Savor one in 99% of situations until you get to ridiculous spend amounts. I recently got the Amex Gold card due to a targeted 90k point signup bonus. I got lucky and found an amex offer that saves me $100 on a purchase I was already planning to make before getting the card, so my effective annual fee for year 1 will only be $150 which is definitely worth the 90,000 MR points. However, I will have to keep finding ways to reduce the annual fee going forward or this card wont last much longer since I can get a C1 Savor One which will earn me more net rewards than the Amex Gold due to it not having a yearly fee.

The main issue with the 'companion certificate' is they block any dates you'd actually want to use. Leaving on a Tues and returning Monday? Sure! but Thurs-Sun is always "unavailable" in my experience.

Priority Pass are a con! Amex Gold do claim a free Priority Pass, but Priority Pass refuse to provide access!!!

Looking at my budget for monthly spending and also what you are with with a priority pass with a premium card vs. buying it separately, it seems to me i would benefit better by buying the priority pass separately because of the spa, restaurantsand minute suites, but i would like to try it out first before a big commitment. If I join at the base level, can i upgrade later?

The changes made to the Delta reserve actually made it a long term keeper card for me. The upgraded companion cert made it so for me!

The Uber and GrubHub benefits... They give you credits to use them but they're not giving you the memberships. It's like going to the gym and paying the higher daily use fee without having a membership and paying less. "Oh come on with me to my gym!" "But I have to pay more because I don't have a membership." "Ohhh..."

Hello Daniel, with all the changes to the delta skymiles cards, do you plan to do an update on this video? I am actually debating at the moment. I have Amex platinum, delta platinum, and chase sapphire preferred. I m single, love to travel a lot, and always dine out. So I was wondering if I should get rid of delta platinum and switch to Amex gold. But I love delta due to its partnership with Korean Air (for visiting my family) and used them for all my travels since 2022. So I have a lot of skymiles saved. I would love your thoughts, and hopefully an updated review on these two cards!

Well that sucks, the current offer (April 2024) is only for 75,000 Avios. May conside the card for Avios transfer to Qatar Airways and more specifically their amazing QSuites business class.

The star of the show was Seat Aero. The only use of the Chase Sapphire Reserve was its partnership with Hyatt. If other banks had Hyatt, then Chase would be irrelevant.

Hey! I currently have seven credit cards of Chase since I have been with them since 2015. But I would love to know if I can reapply for another one of Chase Credit cards and maybe cancel an old Chase credit card without affecting my credit too much is that a possibility or how do I keep getting the sign-up bonuses since they don’t have a lifetime restriction like American Express

if you are assigned for work outside the US, the global dining & groceries at 3x is a winner for the Aeroplan card over the CSP
