Waste Of Money Or Worth It? The Updated Hilton Honors Amex Cards

American Express has just made some changes to its Hilton Cards which might make you reconsider if these cards are actually still worth it.
Changes include, increasing the annual fee and removing Priority Pass lounge access from two of its cards.

There's some irony in that they changed to airline credit from 1 flight annually to 4, yet took away airline lounge access.

I'm a fan of the changes myself. Both cards provide great value if you can maximize the perks/benefits and are a Hilton loyalist. Thanks for the info + video!

TPG posted 2 days ago that there are data pts in the Surpass hotel quarterly credits that you can buy Hilton gift cards online... this approach can help you stack 3 $50 Hilton GCs when you stay at Hilton in the 4Q of every year

A $550 annual fee credit card with no lounge access is just crazy. What this tells me is that theirs another annual increase ($650) coming to this card that will include unlimited Priority Pass Select access.

Just united airlines travel bank the airline credit of 50$ for every quarter to end up with 200$ saved at the end of the year. You have 5 years until it expires. So you can just save it up for 1000$ before the 5 year expiration and buy flight tickets.

I tried to apply for this card the day it was announced and I got the Amex pop-up jail message. All i have is the Amex Amazon business card (that I haven't used in 1 year) and no personal amex cards. Does spend on business cards count towards pop-up jail?

It is possible that it is an issue with not spending enough on the other card you have with Amex. although it sounds a little weird.
Personally I would call them to get a definite answer, maybe they can clear things up and help you get the card

If I buy something internationally, would it get 3x on everything else with the Hilton cards?

I believe so, but I could be wrong. It would be worth contacting Amex to find out for sure.
