Painting TAMIYA`s 1/16 Scale JAGDPANZER IV / L70 Kampfgruppe Hansen Ardennes 1944
This is video shows my way of painting a unique german camouflage scheme for late World War II vehicles. The Disc-Camo scheme was used from late 1944 until the end of war in 1945.
To achieve an appropriate result I used a camo scheme stencil and a lot of patience mixed with skill and all known weathering techniques.
I hope you like my interpretation and don´t hesitate to use the comment section if you have any questions.

A Diorama Transformation - Restoration of a german SdKfz 251/1 in russian dew weather.

Here is my reupload version of a diorama restoration project from 2022. The SdKfz 251/1 is a Zvezda kit and my intention was to present it in a more realistic pattern without a three tone camo. In this scenario the vehicle is an old veteran of the early days of Operation Barbarossa. The vehicle made it surprisingly into the early days of 1943, during the retake of charkiw.

Wow
Thanks Michael and have a nice weekend.
Excellent work.
Thanks Timothy and have a nice day. 👍
I love the zimmerit!!
Are you using a medium with the oils? Thanks
Hello Glenn, sorry for the late answer. I use white spirit for thinning only. After every paint step with oils I calculate a large drying time depending on the color thickness I painted on my model before I go on with the next step. I seal the final paint step with a matte acrylic varnish. Maybe a medium is useful to accelerate my output. I will think about it. Thanks Glenn
@@DIORAMUS- Nice one. Many thanks.
TOP...!!!
Many thanks and I wish you a nice week.👍
Hi, What oil colours are you using please. Thanks
Hello Glenn, I use the oil colors from Abteilung 502. They are made especially for scale modelling purposes.
@@DIORAMUS- Thanks, I meant what are the actual colours. Glenn
As you can See in the Video I use the ordinary base colors, Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Black and White and additional a Burned Sienna. It is not necessary to buy every single color tone when you can mix them together. For more reference you can watch my other figure painting Videos. You can find them in my figures and busts watchlist.
Cannot believe I missed this! Incredible work.
Thx Paul, you are a really loyal spectator. 😁👍
@@DIORAMUS- going to save my pennies and get this kit. Thank you for the inspiration 🙏
Good luck.
Amazing work
Thanks Paul and have a nice weekend.
😭😧😣
Anyway I wish you a nice weekend.
You say every part has seam lines.... Every kit that is injection molded has seamlines lol😂
You are right Nigel, but in this case they are unusual thick.
Wonderful work, 👏👍
Thank you very much Antony. Great.
Astounding diorama
Thank you very much and have a nice week.👍
Well done! I bet you had murderous thoughts for the sadist who made those tracks and didn't supply correct pins.
Thanks Ed, that is the scale modelers self selected fate. 😁 Have a nice weekend.
So talented, its like a moment frozen in time. It reminds me of the images I would see in books I would read as a kid about World War 2. Well done... Very well done!
Thank you Frank, you have a fine eye for diorama intentions. Each diorama should present a moment in time, which gives the viewer a contextual framework and allows him to continue the action according to his own imagination. Thanks again for your important comment. Great.

Fantastico! ❤
Thank yoe Alessio.👍
Beautiful!
Thank you so much Alessio.
For the movie GI Samurai the Type 61 was a scratch built prop. At some points in action scenes you can see the rubber prop cannon for the tank flopping around.
Yes I know, they sampled parts for the prop from the scrapyard. If you know the details it is funny to see in the movie scenes. Overall the Type 61 Prop is a nice one. I like it.
I wanna say it again! It the best Stalingrad diorama which i ever seen!
That is so kind and many thanks for your comment. 👍

Man i love you making the sculpting the painting and the details that you put in the diorama😮😮😮😮😊😊😊
Thank you so much. Great that you like it.
Very nice work, I have this kit in my stash. This makes me think I should get started.
Thank you Michael and I wish you a lot of fun with all of your projects.👍
The only movies I saw the Type 61 was in the Godzilla movies.
Now you know one more movie. I wish you a great day Michael.
A few of those props got reused in Yongary and Ultraman. One them was also used to make the Dinosaur tank monster.
Interesting, thanks for info. 👍
Good job!!
Thanks Edo, nice that you like it.👍
Hello Randrei, on the way to the Caucasus and the oil fields there, the German army had to cross the Kalmyk steppe in the summer of 1942. For more info search for "Fall Blau" in the net. Anyway thanks for your question and I hope you find more useful informations.
Hi, could you tell me what you use to dilute the Tamiya acrylics to use on the brush.
Hello Joao, you can dilute Tamiya acrylics with ordinary tab water but they dry very soon. For a longer drying time you can dilute them with isopropyl alcohol but this choice is expensive. I use Tamiya acrylic colours only as a base coat. If you want to paint only with acrylics a wet pallet is helpful.
Was surprised and pleased to see you using Tamiya XF paints, as that is the main range that I prefer in every model I work with. How do you keep it from drying out however, that's my biggest dislike of using them for detail work? Can you use it like I do Vallejo for figures, on a wet pallet? Admittedly I haven't tried it yet myself.
Most of the time I use the Tamiya paints as a base coat and not for details. For color transition I use highly diluted oil colors. For me and my way of painting the drying time of every acrylic color is too short if you don't use a wet pallet. For work with a wet pallet the Vallejo colors fit better than the Tamiya ones. The combination of acrylic and oil colors is not very user friendly I know but I have a better control of smooth transitions especially on faces. So my paint style looks more realistic (my opinion). Every time I use oil colors I have to seal my work with an acrylic flat varnish to erase the shiny effect of the oil excess. That is a negative and time consuming aspect of my work. Maybe you can test different acrylic colors with a wet pallet and than you can decide which one suits best for your paint style. If you want to know more about my mix use of oil and acrylic colors, watch my other figure painting videos. That would be nice. If you want more info, you can contact me. Always welcome.
Your patience and attention to detail is seriously impressive.. I could never

Hi, what product did you use to make the snow with the white glue?
Hello my friend, the snow is a cellulose-based powder mixture with a small amount of glitter flakes. Unfortunately, I don't remember the manufacturer, but I think there is also something similar from NOCH. You are welcome anytime If you have any other questions.

Superb! Thank you for demonstrating your painting & weathering techniques. They are extremely effective & create an interesting & realistic result! 👍👍 A QUESTION: I have always wanted to model this particular Jagdpanzer IV/L70, after seeing original WWII video of it. I am also beginning to purchase & build 1/16 scale armour. Would you please comment on the build quality, fit, details & accuracy of this Tamiya 1/16 scale kit? It appears to be intended for RC enjoyment, but I wonder if it is good for a serious standalone model. Your work is excellent, but I'd like to know more about the Tamiya's work too. 🙂
Thank you very much Derek. You are right it is an R/C kit from Tamiya. It is very beginner friendly to build but it has not the standard in the grade of detailing as standalone model kits. The material thickness on some items is thicker than normal because it must be stronger for R/C use, especially the side skirts. The skirts look unrealistic. The lower hull is a complete metal part. That gives the whole construction a good stability. My friend, who build it, send me this kit to make it look more real because of his lack of painting skills and he purchased some aftermarket items. For example the first two metal road wheels, an antenna kit from ABER, and parts of the eqipment (tarps and the fuel cannister, helmets and the towing cable). The fitting of TAMIYA kits is always outstanding and there should be no problem for an advanced modeller to achieve a satisfying result. Beware of TAMIYA kits from the 60`s or 70´s. They were designed for "playable" use. The detailing is not so good. If you have more questions, contact me. Always welcome.
Thanks. This was certainly one of the most enjoyable, well-presented and informative videos on the 'how to' topic I've seen. Phenomenal modeling.
Too much honor, Ralph but highly appreciated. Many thanks.
Carsten

Thanks for your nice comment Dana. Great.
It's great to see someone doing something in 1:16 scale for a change, 1:16 is my favourite scale, and is fast expanding in choice of subject, an awesome joba pleasure to look at,
Thanks my friend. Sure 1:16 scale is nice and impressive but it takes double the time and material to finish your work than in 1:35 scale.
