Guys I just did my first drone video!! Can I have some feedback?
Please can you provide links for all the products you've used. It would be great help.
Hey, did you notice two faces in greens, on your left behind (extreme left). Btw, nice informative video.
they sound like aliens
Hello Neil, just wanted to let you know I thoroughly enjoyed the work and thought you put into making this video. Very nice footage, weather, presentation, graphics! It's by far the best produced one I saw so far. Have a nice weekend!
The Best tuturıal I have ever seen THANK YOU SO MUCH
I'm all for ethics but grass isn't going to mind getting a trim from some scissors :P
Get an APO lens! They make macro pictures so much more magical o.o
Excellent video! Extremely clear! Thank you!
Hello kind sir, may I ask what drone were you using in the making of this video?
Hi @saymyname6726, the vast majority of this video features footage from DJI Mavic 2 Pro and Inspire 2 w/ 5Xs sensor. Hope this answers your question 😃
@@neilfisher thank you!
Great video. I learned a lot!
Thanks @davidsinai3610 😃 Greatly appreciate the feedback and happy to hear you found it helpful👍👍👍
Don't forget to insert an SD card. I once forgot and realized my mistake on the mountain. The weather was perfect, my batteries were full, but the images and videos were sent to my phone and thus in low quality. They look good on a smartphone display though, but not on a larger screen (laptop or TV). Really bugs me till today.
Why not just use MooseFS on a couple servers?
Fair question @sugarat333, but the answer is just the same reason with TruNas and a Jbod wasn't chosen: time. I simply don't have time to learn, setup, and potentially troubleshoot. A prebuilt NAS is simply easier to setup and has manufacturer support if any issues are encountered.
Would you recommend this lens for someone who wants to get into microscopic photography to take photographs at home? Wondering if you have a recommendation for the type of light to use, a focus rail/tripod system too? I got a z7ii last year with a 24-70mm lens but don’t have a tripod yet
Yes @atmos.youtube, in a controlled environment this system would be a great choice for microscopic photography 😃😃😃
So beautiful and cute ❤❤ thank you for this video!
I want to make high res Iris (eye) photography. Is this + sony a7iii a good combo?
my intellectual brain found this video awesome! My hind brain thinks it’s fucked up. 😅
@goofyfish allow me to mess with your hind brain some more and explain that the audio, which sounds like wind blowing through trees or vehicle traffic... is actually the sound of thousands of snake scales rubbing against each other 😂
@@neilfisher gah!
Very nicely and clearly explained introduction to macro photography, Neil!
Thanks @nageshkr 😃 Greatly appreciate the feedback👍👍👍
Definately don't mount your field monitor to the hot shoe like that. Even my Nikon D810 is only rated for around 300 grams...but even then I wouldn't. The R5 is known to get a loose hotshoe from just flashes alone. For my ultra macro, I use a crane style arm for the camera. Then you can use a clamp mount for the field monitor, and clamp it to the rear of the horizontal tube that the camera mounts to. It doubles as a counter weight.
Don't panic, my fleet of R5s all wear nice beefy Tilta cages that help greatly in mounting everything and anything 😃😃😃
Really good video.

Hi Neil, do you know if it will work on the canon 5d mark4, because of the is.
@troydemercado5788 the Laowa 100mm EF version will work on the 5Dmk4 - though the 5Dmk4 does not have any form of IBIS nor does the lens have IS.
Oh my god these shots are absolutely spectacular! Wouldnt mind having these as a screen saver :D Are you using any type of filter?
Thanks @user-bj1sq7jm5n 😃 Greatly appreciate the feedback👍👍👍 The vast majority of shots were captured with a circular polarized ND filter - which does aid greatly in reducing glare/reflection.
Excellent Video

Hi - did you see an increase in WRITE speeds to the nas with the RAM upgrade please? I have the 1821+ with 8x10TB drives, 10G Card and with standard 4GB RAM installed. I am getting ~850MB write speeds to the NAS, if I upgrade my RAM to 32gb or 64gb will I see an increase to my write speeds?
I just installed 64gb of Crucial ram in my 1821+ and now I'm consistently getting north of 1GB/s write speeds to the NAS, I was already get >1GB reads anyway, so yea, having the extra ram does make a significant difference! since it helps cache the writes to ram as it writes to the disk
So glad I found your video. I have a Drobo 5D, still working great but I know my time with it is limited. So I have been trying to find a similar replacement. Like a Terramaster or OWC but the fact that you have to use a software RAID, you can’t mix and match drives and you can’t increase the volume makes it a hard no for me. I am better off buying a 20TB drive, use a dock to connect to my computer and back up the data to my Drobo and my 2 Synology 1815+ units. When the Drobo dies, I repurpose the 5x8TB drives in the NAS’. Can’t believe someone did not buy the Drobo tech, not the fastest solution but damn easy!
Thank you.
Many thanks @dougsturgess2651👍 Appreciate the feedback😃😃😃
Nice one Neil ! loved seeing you and the family in March. Keep in touch and should you be in the hood give us a call. P
You seem to basically discount AF. Im currently deciding between this and the Nikon Z 105mm, with the dilemma being 2x vs AF. How much experience do you have with auto focus bracketing features built into mirrorless cameras? The ability to set parameters, press go, and have the camera take dozens of perfectly bracketed shots seems like it would shift the lack of AF from being a non-issue into THE issue. Thoughts?
@jdpattok4357, yuppers I certainly did discount AF. When shooting at 1:1 magnification or higher, autofocus is useless. Sure, automated focus bracketing is cool but the cost savings by going with a MF lens should give you budget to grab a focusing rail. This is just personal preference: if a camera feature didn't exist two decades ago, I've learned how to accomplished the desired finish product without it. Having a car that can park itself is nice, but I'd rather park it myself as I know how to do so.
@@neilfisher Gotcha, yeah I figure the initial focus would be done manually either way. It's for focus stacks with 30, 40, 50+ images that it seems a focusing rail would be extremely tedious, and the auto bracketing would be a game changer. My experience is with wildlife, though, so that's purely speculation on my part. Thanks for the input. Great video by the way!
Nice video, it's answered many questions.

Very nicely explained along with your patient companion who was patiently hearing all what you were saying with interest :) With so much of snow and wind, is it advisable to expose the drone ? What additional care is required in an environment setup you were, for the drone, battery etc? Some tips, please?
Very good question @DestinationsNextwithNandagopal 👍 It's certainly not advisable to fly in heavy snow as it will likely find its way inside the aircraft, but with the temperature so cold - it's possible to tape shut the ventilation opening. The aircraft used to capture the snow fall imagery has done so on numerous instances and is still operating well today. Keeping batteries warm before being used goes a long way in providing a proper discharge rate once in use 😃😃😃 I've got an entire video focusing on cold weather photography that might help - czcams.com/video/cjov6toYh2I/video.html
Your vocal delivery is awesome - how you say things and the intelligence behind what you are saying. If I could, I'd subscribe again - did so last year.
Thanks @usernamemykel 😃 Greatly appreciate the feedback and support👍👍👍
How come I cannot find any videos of these kinds of lenses, but being reviewed with video recording in mind?
Solid question @Bradimus1981. There's a not a great difference in how a macro lens is used when shooting photos or video. Most cinematographers shooting macro will use a dedicated motion control system with focus and iris motors, which really puts the importance on image quality.
@@neilfisher Well, what I will be photographing is stationary. The ant formicarium will have moving ants inside, but I just need something that can zoom in on a small area and record video well. lol
I am primarily a still photographer. This is my first experience with a drone. I'm facing a challenge with video editing since I don't have a video editor. I use Windows and prefer not to invest in the full Adobe suite with Premier Pro. Can you recommend some alternative video editors for Windows? I found your video helpful. Thank you.
@dougsturgess2651 I am a long time Adobe user (think 2005 long time) and make use of make applications in their Creative Suite. That said, I have also used Davinci Resolve and would suggest giving it a try. 👍👍👍
