      The 2024 adjusted cost for the Y66F since 1982 is about $2800USD. The current $900 automatic Dual CS529 can be controlled by Bluetooth. It cannot do many things the Y66F can, at the same time it can do many things the Y66F cannot. Imagine what could be done for 3X the price of the CS529 now. Equating the limitation to technology is misplaced. How many $3K turntables can be sold now a day? The limitation is in market and demand. The demand simply is not there.

    Cool, a beautiful device. I have a somewhat similar in concept Denon DP 47F. Also full automatic, straight arm, with an electromagnetic control of the anti skating. The turntable speed is controlled and stabilized by a magnetic head sensing a magnetic layer on the interior of the plate. The device is surely over 30-35 years in my possession. Optically the JVC looks much better. It is a great piece of industrial design. Compared to that, my Denon looks very pedestrian.

    pretty interesting table. Maybe a bit earlier Sony had come out with their biotracer arms to control arm damping. Pioneer also used an electronic arm in their 707 table. This may have been part of JVC's effort to join that group of manufacturers with electronically damped arms.

    Hi - Happy to see such a thorough review but it’s very misleading that the khorns are not properly placed at any time in the video. Never use wheels under them, they should be coupled to the floor. And they must be placed in a corner to complete the woofer horn, otherwise there is no way you get proper bass. It’s going to be about -6dB already at 70hz and even worse below. I own three pairs and setup is critical for these to sing. When they do, there nothing quite like it. Hopefully setting them up right will bring tears to your eyes :) and goosebumps

    • @stereoniche
      @stereoniche Před 8 dny

      Great SCORE! Now, do NOT connect them separately to your A/B channel on your receiver. They are meant to be connected together. You can go from the receiver to the sat or the sub, then to the other unit, it does not matter because there is a crossover in both units. That makes them a unified "system". I would recommend placing them where you want first, then run the speaker wire as necessary. I assume they have been refurbed and do not need new foam surrounds? Be sure to check them before playing.

I think you and I have had very similar pieces, but you just have way more! lol I would like to actually hear head to head comparisons of the gear you feature, I know listening on our gear through YT. is not the same, but I do feel you can get a pretty good sense of the differences. I commend you on all your hard work, I don't think a lot of people realize the amount of effort that goes into making good quality videos! What if you had a way that subscribers could share their equipment and experiences? Maybe give a nice Streoniche hat to the system of the week or whatever :) ? BTW I just picked up another fine Sansui amp, AU-555a, needed some love, but well worth it! Cheers from Canada Dan!

      A themed Live Stream is a great idea. I too have noticed in other Live Streams that it sort of just bounces around with a lot of dead space. I think the Tour thing would be a lot of fun, it will have to be a bit of a lottery kind of thing, but something that could be figured out. The head to head sound capture would be a big change. I would have to think through that a bit. The subscriber sharing is something I have mulled over and would create some good content if I can get some good video. Sansui AU-555a!! I had a beautiful example years ago with the original box and I sold it... to someone in Canada!

    If you’re looking for ideas, maybe do a blind test of your gear. Have a fellow vintage fanatic set it up and you won’t know what set up of yours is being used so it would eliminate any prejudice (I know you love all of your babies though). It’d be fun comparing all of the great stuff you own not knowing which is which.

      LOL, that would be a nail biter finding out I liked the Advents over the TZ9's, for example.

    You're doing a great job. Please continue to share what you feel comfortable sharing. I very much enjoy learning from your videos. My parents or maybe older cousins were into this equipment. So, I have fond memories of hearing the classic receivers and big speakers but much of this was before my time of knowing the details. I am not much for paid memberships, I'm patient to wait for the video. If I were to pay for a patreon or channel membership it would be to discuss a topic such as synergy of putting together a system or specifics on setting a tone arm, stylus, perferred ways to bring equipment back to life with the person or people behind a channel. I saw posts on forums and classifieds and like the ideas. Getting the business to work behind it, I have no idea. If you endorsed products as some youtubers do. I completely understand as it takes time to put together videos especially on a regular schedule. As viewer I try to watch the ads, click the like button all that stuff.

      Thanks very much for the input and your support. The extended membership side of things is certainly more time spent just to create the new content, hence the need for it to be covered in some way by additional revenue, but I need to feel like the value add is there. All of the comments are greatly appreciated.

    Hi Steve, just found your channel. I love it. As an audiophile who grew up amongst the original Hifi equipment, I love the way you are going with this channel. I haven't seen many of your videos and I look forward to watching them, learning from you, and reminiscing.. Any chance that you would consider selling any if your gear to make room for new " old" gear ? Just a thought. Be well...

      Welcome aboard! I typically go by Scott, but you can call me Steve. :-) You have a year and half of videos to catch up on, sounds like some great binge watching in your future! LOL I do periodically sell gear. What goes first are duplicates. Given the extent of my collection and although I do have quite a bit of space, I still need to sell things off periodically so that, yes, I can accommodate new "old" gear I haven't yet experienced.

    The eBay pricing mention at 18 minutes is so spot on and people need to hear it. I get so annoyed when I find stuff locally on marketplace/craigslist and people price things absurdly because they saw one listing on eBay. These items never sell and the sellers won’t budge.

    I'm glad there is a place for all this old gear to go. As a retired EE and 50 y audiophile, I have no interest in old electronics or speakers. The designs and performance of today's gear just keeps me wanting to upgrade, just like I was 21 years old. What I want to see is solid state power amps from the beginning to about 20 years ago. Take a look inside and maybe even power up a few speakers.

      Well, vintage is anything over 20 yrs, so will eventually get to the late 90's early 00's at some point.

    I like the idea of seeing some restoration videos. Like you say, it probably won't be at the soldering iron level, but even some tips and tricks for cosmetic restoration would be helpful.

    • @stereoniche
      @stereoniche Před 12 dny

      While I won't be able to get any of the technical repairs on video, I can do a summary of what was done. I have a Marantz 2500 in process now, not really any cosmetic issue, but getting some internal restoration, so I'll include that in the upcoming video. There are several items that will need both, extensively, so those will be fun to document and share.

    Scott, I really enjoy your channel and I like the Speaker comparisons between the Advent and other brand speakers. The only thing that I can think of that I would like to see is a review of some Technics products. But I really like what your doing and your doing a great job and I would not change anything

      @stereoniche Před 12 dny

      I appreciate that! The Advent comparisons will continue on, even have a JBL comparison coming soon which I know is right up your alley. :-) I do need to add more Technics to my collection though, always looking!

    There's a couple that utilize Discord for their patrons and members. It's very similar to a forum you can create many subtopics and have ongoing discussions. Also has the advantage of live streaming and chat. Cheap Audio Man and ABX audio both have discord channels.

    You have a great channel, Scott. I have watched your channel awhile and decided to add a comment, since I am essentially a vintage audio user/ collector as well. I think you have a great collection and many good ideas, including “memberships”. Suggestions: 1) ask about what audio or speakers that your audience has? 2) Why not feature some equipment/ pics of your audience members, that you find interesting or unusual. I think this participation could add members. I have many original vintage audio catalogs in the 70s, as well as ads, And the gear. Another good discussion: 3) where would a collector go to either find repairs, or to sell/ swap?

    • @stereoniche
      @stereoniche Před 12 dny

      Bringing in the collections or gear of others is a great idea and one others have relayed as well, so that will certainly make the short list. The repair shop list is one idea I had as well some time ago in one of my "brain storming" sessions, but I think it needs to be moved up the list a good bit. I do get several questions looking for recommendations. On the membership area, still mulling on it. I want it to be worthwhile, so still figuring out the specifics. It will happen, but only when it is right.
