That absolutely could be part of the problem. Many essential oils don't perform well at high temperatures though, so we would recommend picking ones that have a higher flashpoint (over 150 degrees).

@@bramble-berry Thanks. I've worked with EOs in soy and coconut wax so am aware of flashpoints etc - i'm happy with the throws they give, but any beeswax added just seems to overpower them.

We recommend waiting 2-3 days before rebatching the soap, just so you can shred or cut it into smaller pieces for easier melting.

If your soap has already been saponified there is no way to add additional oil to the recipe and fix it. You can absolutely do rebatch with your soap, but if what you have is drying or irritating to the skin we would recommend starting from scratch.

Oh, what do I do with the soap then? I don't like the fact that it crumbles . I haven't used it to know if it irritates the skin. It's my first soap ever, made from your video on soap making for beginners. I didn't get the quantity of the olive oil correctly hence the oil was short. I am planning to do a rebatch to add the missing oil but you said I can't add oil in the rebatch. What do you advise I do with the soap please?

Yes, absolutely, shea would work instead. We recommend quick cooling them in your fridge though to prevent any graininess in the final product.

We recommend distilled water. Filtered water can have minerals still in it that change the way the soap traces.

Its emulsifying wax NF. BTMS and cetyl alcohol would not be the best replacements as they will change the consistency of the final product.

You're welcome to add another teaspoon of sea clay for a darker color. You could add up to an ounce of plant extract, melt and pour soap is formulated to accept up to 5% additives including fragrance oils and extracts.
