Can someone answer for me -- if we reform to remove leaseholds, how do current freeholders and the associated leaseholders settle? Forced sale of freehold agreement? -- what if the leaseholders dont' have funds -- low interest or 0 interest loans from government? I'm pro-reform, but very curious if anyone knows if labour/conservative have a concrete description of how this should be executed

Well, they’re not really looking at the housing crisis as a whole. Thatcherism has inserted itself everywhere and both parties are now concerned with the homeowner class, including the lower rungs of that property ladder. As long as you’re on it, you’re somewhat visible. The housing crisis affects renters disproportionately but who gives a flying fuck about plebs who can’t even own property?

I'll save y'all nearly 10 minutes and answer the question directly, it's because of FPTP voting system in a two party democracy. If you want the Tories out you got to vote (tactically) for one of the other top two parties. Voting for the greens in 2024 means voting to keep the Tories in.

Housing management involves way too many people that need to make money off of it. Subsequently, these people don't work and therefore don't add value to the economy. Landlords and everyone in between that doesn't need to be there, is a leech on society, very much like people collecting handouts.

And with this video TLDR show that they work off hope and not reality. Reform UK a right wing party is closer to being the second party in the UK rather than the Lib dems. It is almost as if the people doing this vid have never researched UK politics. The Lib dems are a protest vote. Torries upset at their MP`s often vote lib dem to show how upset they are. Some Labour voters do the same. When it comes to a G.E. the votes dry up for the lib dems. This has happened time after time and is nothing new.

I don’t agree with the narrative that Britain had the cheapest food before Brexit . So many Latin countries had cheapest food and anyone who had a holiday in a Latin country would agree . Of course I know now we have the expensive food costs and I voted to stay in the European market. British people didn’t have enough information from the government to to make a responsible decision either way before they voted. It’s like a jury of 12 people in a court sitting with earmuffs on and at the end of the court proceedings making a decision without hearing the evidence. Or to put it another way , A toddler is in the kitchen and he was just going to put his hand on the hot oven . His Mum says Don’t put your hands on the oven but not explaining WHY. When I was a child in the 60s and 70s the government used to arrange Public information TV advertisement . Eg . Green Cross code , Ask people who knock on your door for I.D , Learn how to Swim , Children don’t take sweets from strangers and other subjects . It’s a shame the British government didn’t arrange TV programmes giving information about Brexit . In my past works I have trained so many people and given them the right information to do their jobs . Why didn’t our government do the same?

We have imported over 9,000,000 people's worth of nett migration since 1996. This has increased demand for housing, which has driven up house prices and rents. At the same time, this unprecedented level of immigration has helped to supress wage increases and increase competition for employment. The UK is the third most population dense nation with more than 20 million population in Europe and is in the top 20% for population density of all polities on Earth. We will talk about and try to deal with every problem in the UK, but we won't ever deal with the one issue that drives poverty, crime and cultural fragmentation.

What needs to be understood is that the Lib Dems are fighting on essentially on only one front - against the Tories in blue wall seats. Sure there was a significant shift from the Lib Dems to Labour after Brexit happened and Starmer replaced Corbyn, but that happened pretty evenly across the country, and has long since been priced in by party strategists. For the past four years the Lib Dems have been focussing on making themselves as efficient as they possibly can be under FPTP given their mostly static vote share, and the local election results do suggest that strategy is working. The Tories on the other hand are fighting on three fonts - against the Lib Dems in the blue wall, and against Labour across almost the entire country, and against Reform who risk a spoiler effect in red wall areas. The impossibility of such a fight is why a complete Tory collapse looks increasingly likely. That being said it is, as this video recognises, very unlikely that the Lib Dems will finish ahead of the Tories. The point at which the parties would swap places would probably be more like 70 seats each, which would require not only a complete Tory collapse but also the best Liberal performance in around a century, neither of which are currently suggested by current polling averages. What is looking increasingly likely, however, is that the Lib Dems overtake the SNP to become the third party again, which potentially sets them up much better for future general elections due to the increased media coverage.
