cant wait for part 2. i watched a video last year (ginger fishy hes called). not sure if youve watched any of his videos. worth a watch if you havnt. i think you and ginger fishy are the best on here for diy above ground ponds in the UK. im confident enough from watching you and ginger fishy to start my own very soon. thanx for the content youve done an amazing job. like i said cant wait for part 2 👍🏻

Do you leave the filter running when you empty the water out of the drain pipe? As on quite a few videos people turn the filter off first, msny thanks

Actually another major benefit I should have thought to mention with gravity fed, is the fact that the pump is on the clean water side of the filter. Saves a lot of faffing with not having to clean out pump housings etc. And of course the pipe is much bigger, so can cope with much larger solids than a pump. also as a relatively minor aside to that, being on dry land, the pump is much more accessible than being at the bottom of the pond. Also the pipework is hidden, rather than having to hang over the top of the pond.

To be honest Chaz, I feel a bit concerned about pump fed as opposed to gravity. If something goes wrong with a pump fed system while you are not there, the pump could theoretically empty the whole pond. Whereas with gravity fed, the water stops flowing when it falls below the height of the inlet to the filter. Difficult to understand that you could convert from pump to gravity later. Not sure I can add anything re filtration. As you know we have a sieve and a big bead, which are doing a decent job. If you have potential for loads of foliage falling in during autumn, then a sieve is useful. And I would certainly advise a skimmer if you can include one. Also, I think it’s worth overdoing the UV to help get the water sparkling. We started with a 55w unit and added another in series after a few years, which made the water so much clearer.

Hi, a multibay can be a really effective filter, quite flexible to, it can have a combination of differing numbers of mechanical and biological filtration. It just tends to be quie labour intensive, cleaning-wise. In the last couple of weeks I’ve made a series of 3 videos all about my filtration, including what I have and how well it works, and cleaning. Hi mate , don’t suppose you could help I’ve got the auto clean 5000 . I’ve changed the bulb a few times an it’s been ok , I changed it the other day an it’s now leaking from the top . How can I stop this ??

When you wire in the float switch to the EA pump do you fit it to the mains to the settings box or from the settings box to pump

Replace the O rings. 90% of the time this is your issue with leaking connectors

Looking great mate, leak's are a bloody nightmare, I was chasing leak after leak after leak when I did my setup, I eventually used pond safe sealant and it worked a treat 👍
