I commented on the 6 part videos you have on the other channel😅😅. The building was originally the old post office, later repurposed as a "lykshuis" for the nearby informal settlement. My mother wrote that because we conducted and recorded monthly readings, along with the rest of the town's meters. The place wasn't in such disrepair during our time there. The ash observed was from the mining mounds, intended for brick-making under the new owner's orders. We often visited those ruins before, and they never appeared as they do now. As children we went "ghost hunting" in the evenings. I took one photo you can see an apparition. My grandfathers were miners there; one narrowly survived the Coalbrook mine disaster. We were there when they imploded the towers. It's where my parents met and attended school. It's quite disheartening, actually.

In this episode we’re exploring a mostly forgotten historical site at an active military base in Pretoria, South Africa. We arrived just before sunset, and managed to get some beautiful drone shots in before it got dark. This location dates back to the Anglo Boer War, with Fort Commeline constructed in the 1880s. In 1894 the site was repurposed and developed for munition storage and later also ammunition production, and it became known as Magazine Hill. Today it is still an active military base, now known as Salvokop Artillery Regiment. Julle 2 manne wat die video maak is duidelik albei afrikaanssprekend,en ek verstaan heeltemal waarom julle die video in engels doen,maar oh weë,ek "cringe" elke keer wat jy die woord "dark" sê. Luister bietjie self hoe jy daai R so oordoen met die rol 🤦‍♀️. Dit het gemaak dat ek ek op niks anders in die video kon konsentreer behalwe die aanplakkerigheid van daardie uitspraak nie. Praat maar eerder net engels met die gewone aksent waarmee meeste afrikaanse mense praat.

I found an old shell casing of a bullet outside the blockhouse many years ago. Not sure if it dated back to the Boer war.
