Exploring an Abandoned Gable House (Vanderbijlpark) - Urbex South Africa [Ep.28]

__IN THIS EPISODE:__
Today we explore The Gable House, with a distinctive architecture style that dates back to the 1700s. On a property that is mostly overgrown, sits a home, that in its heyday would not look out of place on a Stellenbosch Winery.
However, strangely this property is nowhere near the Western Cape, and furthermore the home hides a dark secret from the 1960’s, which was a time of segregation in South Africa. It was a time of massive uprisings from the oppressed and inhumanely treated citizens of our beloved country.
We will briefly discuss some of this history during this exploration. So, join us as we do a walk-through of this unique property, to see what remains after it’s abandonment roughly 5 years ago…

I'm not sure about the 1960's part of the history.... but my grandparents used to live in this house. Not sure when they bought it....but since I can remember I know this house and I "grew up" in it (although we actually stayed only a few mins away from there). I know every little cm of that house :)
My mom and her other siblings grew up in this house... It was a very sad day when it was eventually sold a few years after my grandparents passed away. It was too expensive for the siblings to maintain the house.
Great video by the way.... brings back a lot of good memories... and missing the family members not with us anymore today.

I was at this home a few times, +-20 years ago, its was my old friend Wanda's grandparents home. Its in Vanderbijlpark. I remember this house design was so unique and stairs was always creepy lol. So sad the home looks like this now.

It has got so much character, and the grounds still seem to be somewhat maintained. Pity that nobody has purchased it yet.
Maybe we'll go do a nighttime exploration in the future, just for the spooky factor 😅

Hi Neels, altyd lekker om van jou te hoor. 😉 Ons is tans besig om ons Episodes van KS Voortrekker Hospitaal te edit, so dit sal seker live gaan in die volgende maand. Daar gaan 'n gewone Urbex episode wees, en dan een wat ons saam met Upsidedown Paranormal 'n nag shoot en investigation gaan doen het. Dit behoort hopelik interesant te wees.
Ons beplan om binnekort ook Welkom Hospitaal te gaan doen. Weet net nie of mens maklik toegang gaan kry nie. Maar die insluip is soms helfte van die pret 😅

Baie insiggewende video. Julle 2 manne wat die video maak is duidelik albei afrikaanssprekend,en ek verstaan heeltemal waarom julle die video in engels doen,maar oh weë,ek "cringe" elke keer wat jy die woord "dark" sê. Luister bietjie self hoe jy daai R so oordoen met die rol 🤦‍♀️. Dit het gemaak dat ek ek op niks anders in die video kon konsentreer behalwe die aanplakkerigheid van daardie uitspraak nie. Praat maar eerder net engels met die gewone aksent waarmee meeste afrikaanse mense praat.
