I’m gonna be replacing my TPS here soon, what some need to knows before I jump into this?
Was it a hassle removing and reinstalling the throttle bodies ? Looks complicated in the service manual and in your video
It’s not bad once you’ve been through the process a time or two. Take your time, follow the manual, and you’ll do great!
hey do you have the link to the 4th wire that you plugged in when doing the tailight? the black and green one
Ah i see you've gone over 280km/h (lost your side tank pannels, hurts the shin when they fly off huh?)
Not true. If you watch the previous episodes in the series you’ll see that I purchased the bike in non-working order. In this video I am troubleshooting the TPS, APS, and ECM using the onboard diagnostic in an attempt to restore throttle control. Also, you have to remove the tank panels in order to lift the tank to for this procedure. Thanks for watching!
Always better to get Fasteners at Ace or even Lowe's or home Depot. Stainless, grade 8, or pretty much any type is there. Can also change head type if you want. I've done a few
Plastic straw like from fast food drink is what I use for tdc. I've done a few hammer1275 builds on sportsters. And yes the front connecting rod typically has some side to side play. The rear tends to only have a slight wiggle. Good video
Great 10 part series Mike! I have a XB12X and found your videos informative, interesting and entertaining…well done! Finding parts in Australia is a nightmare….when used parts are available the price is ridiculous, often more expensive than new! All the best for your upcoming wedding…cheers from Oz🇦🇺 PeterB
Just curious on what that mounting bowl would be called for the gas tank plastic
What size is swingarm nut
Did you have a TPS code before you changed the FPR?
Did you really hit the spindle with a claw hammer?! Good luck getting the nut back on
Generally what do you use to clean the grease? Break cleaner?
Having the issue.... but its the fuse keep burning... helpp
Hopefully this gets a response soon but what size screws did you use to mount the headlight to the fairing? None of the ones in my bolt kit fits
Very good video. Thank you. I have to do mine so this will help a lot.
How would you get to the turn signals after this if the bike is all together
Mine only shows d1 and it goes I believe to d09 then it jumps to d20???
Excellent video, thanks a lot
I found these fairings brilliant: czcams.com/video/TOHEr-OZ0T0/video.htmlsi=pmfetc9bnZbJ8E-O
OMG! Who on earth would mess up an RC51 like that?
Hi Mike. Do you mind providing a link to the turn signals. I’m putting together a FireBlade and sourcing non-LED flush signals isn’t easy. Thanks in advance.
No problem! Good luck with your build! www.ebay.com/itm/186005122800?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=gsNFP6D7S-y&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=nm6KKDfXQEu&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Where did you buyd the Mirrors? Name?
XB9/12 = best sounding sports bikes ever built.
Where did you get the faring bolts from
I got them from NT Fairings as well.
you think its possible to engine swap with a different 45 degree v twin possibly water cooled?
Great video! Question? Did you take the throttle body off before you split the bike or after?
Thanks! Yes, it was actually removed in part 1 of this video series around the 13min mark.
My bike only went to 68 in 4th and 5th what does that mean?
9:51 I‘m trying to replace the swingarm on my 600 after a crash. Got the old one out with a crowbar because it was such a tight fit. Now i have the same Problem putting the new one back in. Did yours insert easy? I‘m scared that my frame might be bent.
Mine was easy out and easy in. You could try adding some grease to see if it helps, but you might have bigger issues like you mentioned. Best of luck!
Use a sofa straw to watch pistons move
The tank cover can I install it over the factory tank I can’t find a set to match my oem fairings so I gotta order a complete set with tank cover so the hole bike will match
So the metal fuel tank is actually under the plastic fairing that covers the tank on the OEM setup. The nice thing about these CBR's is that you can remove that tank fairing and swap it out with an entirely new fairing set without having to repaint the tank. It's literally just a cover.
@@LifeOfMikeChannel sweet I was also wondering will the rr fairings of the same year work on the f4i. Thanks for the info keep the videos rockin
@@blueridgekicks3962 The f4i has a painted metal tank and different fairing style all around compared to the 600rr's so unfortunately the fairing kits are not compatible. Thanks for watching!
Is there only one tps sensor or 2?
There is a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and an Accelerator Position Sensor (APS). The TPS is located on the right side of the throttle body whereas the APS is located on the left side where the throttle cable connects to the throttle body. The APS measures the throttle “request” from the rider which sends a signal to the ECU which sends a signal to the throttle servo motor (middle of throttle body). The TPS then measures the actual movement of the butterfly valves. The whole throttle system is fly by wire vs the old mechanical/cable only setups. Essentially this bike had an issue internal to the ECU where even tho I was “requesting” throttle, the ECU was not sending the signal to the throttle servo motor. My video shows the acceptable ranges for both the TPS and APS as well as how to test each sensor individually. Cheers!
Thanks so much. Just ordered the parts.
@@treysanders4509 No problem! Happy to help.
Any info on taking a 2000 x1 lightning motor apart to do gaskets have a leak and can’t find it anywhere so want to re do all gaskets and seals

Hey Mikey, I never saw the bike actually run after 10 episodes. What's up with that? Richard
I have a terrible habit of restoring bikes and then selling them when they’re all fixed for a new broken project haha. I’d like to start getting more ride footage at the conclusion of my projects for those who are curious as to how the bikes perform. Thanks for watching!

what an endeavor this has been. love my buells.

How long did it take for shipping of your fairings? I need to order some for an 06' 600rr, only ive heard the shipping times from these fairing companies can take a cpl of months, dang man if thats true i wont be riding till June, I'm just trying to find best place for quickest shipping times. I need the ductwork an headlight assembly also
I ordered mine from NT Fairings through their Amazon store. Looking at this exact fairing set in the video, if I was to order them today (03/26/2023) they would arrive to me in FL on 04/05/2023. If you go to the NT Fairing website, they also have an option to search for "Ready Stock" in the US. Some of the kits have to be fabricated then shipped to the US which causes those long lead times. The "Ready Stock" kits have already been fabricated, arrived in the US, and are ready for shipping. Here are some helpful links: NT Fairings Amazon Store: www.amazon.com/stores/NT+FAIRING/page/C2291651-CE06-425E-B942-C102B2B2134E?ref_=ast_bln NT Fairings Ready Stock in US: www.nt-fairing.com/collections/on-sale-items/available-in-usa Hope this helps!
@@LifeOfMikeChannel omg thanks man i really appreciate this. Can i ask you honest opinion is there a difference between quality from say monster fairings or auctmarts or nt ? Iam guessing they are all coming from same place in china just distributed different companies doing the same thing?
@@wolverinebear5357 No worries! I can’t speak to the quality of the other fairing companies as I have not tried their products myself. I came across NT fairings from another CZcamsr who used them on his bikes so I had an idea as to the quality before I decided to order them. I feel like they are probably very similar, but you’ll want to check reviews on the hole alignments, panel gaps, and paint drips. Also, don’t forget to put heat shielding on the fairings around the exhaust areas as most aftermarket fairings have a reputation for melting if you forget to install the heat shield.
Hey bro..excellent video...I watched part 1 and now this one but can't find the episode putting the lowers on 😢..I just picked up a wrecked 06 CBR600F4i for 500 bucks....wanting to order a fairing kit and this video made up my mind who to buy it from...do you possibly have a link for episode 3? Thanks again for an awesome tutorial
How long did the fairing kit take to ship to you?
thank you 3/25/2023 I am building a Buell from scratch 2006 XP12 1200cc engine (engine is identical to yours) Thunderbolt S3T frame , what swing arm are you using
Just bought a somewhat clapped 06 600rr, it runs an all purrs like a kitten but the damn wire harness looks like its been through hell an back electrical tape special lol it was wrecked so needs headlight assembly but lots of wires that appear to be added an going to nowhere, iam sure they added LEDs an crap, what place could i order a new wire harness revzilla says they not available so iam guessing i gotta buy used but not sure of a trusted source, I'd hate to have the wrong one sent an me not knowing the damn difference, this my first streetbike been riding dirtbikes an they are million times less complicated lol
I would start by researching if there are any differences between the 05-06 harnesses since they are the same model year. That will broaden your options for used parts. I’d also research what the complete harness should look like/come with. If I was in your shoes, I’d start my search on eBay. No guarantees, but if you buy from a reputable company your chances of finding a complete harness are pretty good. Best of luck!
@@LifeOfMikeChannel thanks man, kinda my line of thinking, just whoever had this b4 me did a number on the harness lol it runs an all but the harness just looks atrocious, still debating if i just get the headlights an fairings an slap it back together an sell it or keep it, if i keep it i gotta cleaner up some just for my sanity lol thanks for documenting your build
@@wolverinebear5357 no worries! It’s a great bike if you decide to keep it for yourself. As you’ve seen, they can take some abuse and still run like a top. Let me know if you have any questions along the way.
Nice. I got an 07' firebolt xb9r and an 08' 1125r
This is the fun part. Electrical connectors you can't reach.
I install the throttle body before I fully torque down the heads. Minimizes intake leaks by letting the heads move a little. Now, the intake flange surface on the heads align with the machined edge of the manifold. Sometimes, I pull the heads without unbolting the throttle body.
Air cooled motor. You're gonna find metal in the oil every now and then. 😔
Have to replace the swing arm on my 05 636 kawi because a bolt to tighten the chain snapped inside of it 😀
You might be able to get the bolt out with a screw extractor. They sell them at your local hardware store for relatively cheap, so I might look at that option first before replacing the swingarm. Good luck!
You gotta remove that db killer😢
Why does it have the 03-04 front brake master cylinder
The master cylinder that came with the bike showed some significant signs of wear so I purchased a cleaner compatible replacement from a different year. Thanks for watching!
