  • Is your RC51 stalling at traffic lights, smelling like gas, or just plain running rough? If your bike has sat for any length of time, there is a good chance you may want to replace your fuel pressure regulator (FPR). This was the case with our RC51 that was stored for several years by the previous owner. This FPR replacement worked wonders, and the bike is good as new!

Thanks for this good tutorial. I like how you show where you had trouble with the screw hole on the velocity stack as that helped when I did this job. Also the rope trick was awesome, also helped. I didn’t remove the tail section, but just removed the two forward most rear cowl screw and placed rags between the cowl and tank before rotating the tank.

Funny how varied people's tastes are with sportbikes. I only run clear shields because you'll never see a race bike with a tinted windscreen and for me the main reason I'm an enthusiast is because pretending to be Colin Edwards is sooooooo freaking FUN!

Thank you. Used your video as a guide to replace my FPR on my RC51. The only difference was that I used a hose pincher (Lisle 22850) to pinch the gas line and I loosened, but did not completely remove the airbox to remove the FPR. Bike is running smooth.

No problem! I know my example wasn’t the most elegant procedure, but I’m glad there was enough content there to help you get the job done! That’s what it’s all about. Glad to hear your bike is running smoothly again!

Thanks for the tutorial. Great vid.
    My symptoms =
Running rich gas smell in exhaust
    Fuel mileage down by 35%
    Backfiring badly on downshifts
    Occasional stalling at lights.
Guess I'll be tackling this next week.

Sounds about right! I was surprised what a night and day difference it was just by changing that one little part. You’ll be happy you did. Good luck!

Did you have a TPS code before you changed the FPR?

la moto esta quedando espectacular, yo tengo una desarmada y me faltan partes, para poder armar el motor y también me robaron la ECU y el rectificador de voltaje... y aquí en Venezuela es difícil que encuentre esos repuestos

Hey man, nice video! Did the new FPR solve your problem? Sweet bike by the way. I was hoping for a startup at the end of the video, those V engines sound awesome;-)

The FPR replacement did in fact solve the problem. If you want to see some ride footage after the install check out the final episode in this series. Thanks for watching!
