Can you provide more information about the sack? My PFM40 did not come with one.
Is it aluminium or stainless steel ?
Stainless Steel
the screws used to apply the netting to the top of the box didnt go through the lid?
I did not use the screws, I used some super glue designed for adhering plastic to plastic. It has held up well and I have not had any issues.
With the original Stanley Cook Pot you should insert the fuel canister upside down and it fits much better. The marking on the green cup indicates that's the "one cup" mark. What difference does it make if, with the new pot, you can nest a Nalgene bottle if you can't fold the handle?
Love this Stanley. I burned my leg with scalding water due to that old style narrow bottom not resting securely on a stove. This newer one is going to be great! Only thing I can think to make it hetter would be changing to butterfly handles.
Finally a fellow Nebraskan. Thanks for the info on Stanley.
Interesting but I will keep using the old version. Not spending money on something I don't want or need. Thanks for the information, will keep what you have said in mind.
You forgot the Disinfectant wipes for the seat area….Most important item.
Finally!
What bag are you using to store your kit?
That bag is the Condor Tactical Field Pouch. a.co/d/0gIW4D97
Great review on a new piece of kit, I will be looking for it…
marketing gimmick. twenty bucks at rei. since they last a lifetime (warranty?), only new customers will be taken. not an improvement.
How much did they jack up the price for this remodeled cook set?
$20
well now, I was actually going to go to REI today. now I know what I'm going to hunt down. thanks for the heads up. Dwayne
Many thanks for this info , I really like the original set but going to track one of these down. 👍🏻👍🏻🔥
Honestly, I would like to see an ice retention challenge between the roadie 15 and the pelican 14 qt. Also in comparison, even though the yeti is built slightly more durable and perhaps it has slightlybetter ice retention I believe the pelican offers you more bang for your buck. And this is why… the pelican comes with the dry storage compartment at the top of the lid yeti does not have that it also comes with a dry storage basket, which you have to buy with yeti The pelican also has a bottle opener with a magnetic catch which yeti does not have . It also comes with a place to put your lock which comes standard. With yeti you have to order the locking mechanism thingy, even though it comes free. There is no drilling accessories and all of that nonsense with the pelican. With the yeti in order to place that locking mechanism thingy you have to screw this yourself not to mention if you want a bottle opener you will have to purchase a $20 bottle opener and screw that in yourself into a $200 cooler yikes. So my friend, would you please do an honest review of the yeti 15 and a pelican 14. Ty.
You are awesome! Just ordered this, thank you!
Great job man
I have the older version of the 2 bowl camp kit. Looking forward to your review on that new one.
Wow . . . didn't know Yeti was going to release this ! I have an older Roadie 20 (the one with the stainless steel handle). It still works great, but it's getting a bit dated. A few things make this CLUTCH for me usage. #1 - the size /weight. My Roadie 20 is heavy for it's size . . . and I rarely stuff it full . . . so '15' would be adequate for me. #2 -the removable strap / handle . . . I rarely use the Stainless handle on my 20 . . . and when I do, it's an awkward PITA. #3 - They kept the 'tie-down' feature is a HUGE plus . . . I use mine tied down in my boat. #4 - I'm amped that they made 2 small baskets fit in this . . . that's beyond cool . Damn it . . . now I've gotta save up for one!!!!!
Nalgene makes a 32 oz ss backpacker water bottle that is tapered to fit the original Stanley Adventure 2 cup cookset. And the GSI cup will nest the complete set.
$20. Fair price.
A lot more functional with the new size and lid design. That you can now put a full-on Nalgene Bottle into it is a huge improvement! HOME RUN STANLEY 🎉🏃♂️
Thanks for the product update. Just ordered 🦾🤣
I sewed a pair of Molle Adapter 2 on a hunt pack so I could attach some water bottle holders. Really tough to sew by hand, but the results have been excellent.
Great improvement!!
Thanks for the review. I'd seen the Wildfare Go set on the Stanley website and elsewhere but not much in the way of commentary about it. The Adventure set used to sell for around $15 at Walmart, one of it's attractive selling points, but now sells elsewhere for $25. The Wildfare set sells for $20. So, an improved set for a 20% less. Thanks again.
I wonder if the gsi backpaker mug would fit inside the new version?
Nesting a Nalgene- or any bottle in either pot- is a moot feature b/c there no way to stow the handle.
You can remove the handle and slide it in the pot between the bottle and pot wall. I demo that near the end of the video.
@@BarnYardOutdoors I saw. Still doesn't change the fact u can't stow the hande. Removing the handle to make it work is analogous to taking apart a stove to make it fit inside a pot. There are plenty of pots that can nest a Nalgene w/o disassembling the pot. Simply put, this is a poorly designed product IF the intention is to be a nesting pot. What I mean is, Stanley could have very easily used a different handle design if they wanted to toute Nalgene nesting as a fearure. Thanks for hearing me out
@THCone that makes perfect sense. I see your point, folding butterfly handles (or some other type) would be better for a nesting cookset setup.
@THCone, Fair point. I wonder if that’s an intentional feature or just coincidental? One thing I like about the handle it has (as with the old model) is that you can lock the handle closed over the lid and string some wire through to hang it over a fire like a small bush pot.
Nice
Excellent video, but it’s way too small for Gdamn $ 200!!
I found this set earlier this year myself and love the small changes they made.
That new Stanley looks great, my old version has served me well over the years. I believe the mark inside the old green cup is “one cup”. I guess the Green Cup Club is outdated now 😂
I am sure the diehard members of the Green Cup Club will still be around. That being said, we will have to get ready for the Sage Cup Club. Thanks for watching and the comment.
6 ounces at the marker line. How do I know this, pray tell... I challenged my husband about it and HE WON 🏆, 6 ounces on the dot at the marker 😂.
Thanks for sharing, I had no idea there was a gen 2. I definitely gotta get one. Great video!
That's funny I was wondering why I couldn't find it on the Shelf at Walmart anymore play Master bed in the middle what's shipping the new ones out for the past couple months
I really like the new version.
Ooh I do like the look of the new version! Thanks for sharing!
Exactly the review I needed, perfect comparison! Thanks for this, dudio!
Great review I found on REI a couple a weeks ago I love it I have the old model to thank you for your input
I’ve been waiting years for them to come out with a new addition with a new tab on the lid… Great news! Thanks so much for posting.
Thank you Barnyard Outdoors and Thank you Stanley. I love it.
Will the older model fit inside the newer model
The best way to use the Stanley cook set pot on any stove .I use a shower drain grate and it works perfectly in all applications
That's a brilliant idea 💡 👏. I've been using a LODGE CAST IRON Trivet. Works great for taming the flames for more even cooking BUT it's heavy for backpacking needs. YOUR IDEA 💡 IS MUCH BETTER AND MUCH APPRECIATED.
Take a dremel tool and cut off a 1/16" to an 1/8" inch off each end of the handle nibs, makes taking the handle off MUCH easier and still locks fine when using the push lock piece.
It appears they designed it to nest around a Nalgene (smart), but in order to take advantage of that capability the handle needs to be removed for storage. I would have expected a design for easy removal 🤷♂️
This kit is even cooler now. Turn your gas canister upside down and it will go to the bottom. That move and the fact that the bottom of the gas tank is concave will open up some meaningful extra storage space above the tank.
Nice! But I have a couple of the older ones back when it was very inexpensive, I carry a small square bushcraft grill and set it on top of stoves to stabilize the pot if needed. This and the Stanley french press go to most of my camping trips. Fitting the Nalgene bottle doesn’t matter to me because I go for several weeks at a time, need more water and at 67 I don’t backpack anymore. I think you’re the first reviewing this, thanks. 👍🏻
Like lots of others, I thought this product was discontinued a couple of years ago. Great, will get one as soon as I can source one. Thanks for your video.
Meh...if it ain't broke don't fix it
The original version has some issues and room for improvement.
I think you're the 1st on CZcams to show this! Thanks! I was in the market for a camp cookset anyway! I only found them on REI. (Haven't shown up on Amazon yet as of 7/7/24) I love what they have done with the new version! That slight increase in size greatly improves this product! I ordered this new one, the 14-Piece Wildfare Go Two Bowl Prep & Cook Set and the Wildfare Core 7" Saucepan Cookset. The new Wildfare Saucepan's are tri-ply bonded stainless-steel which will help with evenly distribute heat and overall cooking experience!
Is it 3 layers on the bottom, or all over on the new pots?
@@BrekRND The triply only applies to the Core 7" Saucepan Cookset and the whole pan is triply, not just the bottom.
Il try that
