So if anyone else had the same problem as me in adding their details - like first and last name DOB - I just used Google translate to get the characters for my first and last name and your D.O.B in Japanese will be YYYY/MM/DD. For the zip code I just used random numbers id remember as that's the only thing that worked. Hope this helps others. commented by amaya below

I was in Japan a few days ago and the screen in Tokyo station is very different. Also I am still not able to find out why you have to purchase two tickets which I believe the machine you used had a sticker on the right of it talking about basic and reserve fair. Long story short we had our seats 💺 but when we arrived at airport we could not go through the ticket machine, the machine ate our ticket and then a person guided us to a ticket counter. Lucky we had receipt but were still asked to pay more. Very confusing and still not sure why the machine let me select a seat but not through the exit gate. There could be some improvement on this experience and you cannot expect new people to know all this.

Airport buses also stop at my favourite hotel near Tokyo, APA Hotel＆Resort Tokyo Bay Makuhari. BUT I actually prefer taking trains being to work up an appetite before reaching Makuhari Station (Saizeriya🍴🍺🍷☕🍝🍛🍕🥞🍗🥩🍜😚) then a short walk to hotel check-in. APA has 2 large onsen options main building and west wing.

Your video was great! Very informative! I just got back from Japan. I go every summer. I only use paper tickets for the trains when I’m there. I don’t like the idea that the money I put on the card or app expires and that I can’t get a refund. If I could save the money on my app until I go back in a year I would totally use it. I wish they would make the app more tourist friendly. 🇯🇵
