How to get from Haneda Airport to Tokyo Center | Fastest + Easy 13 minutes Monorail to Hamamatsucho

- Here’s how to get from Haneda Airport to Tokyo station the fastest and easiest way! It’s the way I always choose whenever I come back to Tokyo via Haneda Airport. And that is taking the MONORAIL. Why? Because it’s fast, easy, convenient and cheap at the same time, for me.
So, whatever your destination in Tokyo center is, Tokyo, Akihabara, Shimbashi, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Ueno, Harajuku…, consider this monorail (especially going to Tokyo station direction). If you get paid by someone else or don’t care much about money, taking a cab directly to your hotel is obviously the best way :) But if you’re on your own, the monorail is very convenient overall, in my opinion. you can consider the Keikyu train too, which connects Haneda airport with Shinagawa station, another major station in Tokyo that allows you to switch to the bullet trains to Osaka/Kyoto. depending on your final station in Tokyo, the Keikyu train might be a bit faster than the monorail.
there's also the bus option, which is ideal when you have heavy luggages.
This Monorail is a short rail (17.8 km), with one end is Haneda Airport Terminal 2, and the other end is Hamamatsucho Station. And this Hamamatsucho station is connected to the main railway in Japan, which is the Japan Railway (or JR in short).
So the way it works is, you take the Monorail from Haneda Airport to Hamamatsucho station, and then, at Hamamatsucho station, you switch to the JR train to go to your destination.
The monorail and the train are owned and operated by 2 different companies. But you don’t have to buy 2 different tickets for your trip. You just buy 1 combined ticket at Haneda airport.
A better option, an alternative option to buying a ticket is buying the Suica card, which I demonstrated in this video. It’s the card that almost everyone in Tokyo is using everyday, including myself. Not only is it a peace of mind, it’s also a way to save time and money!
Why?
In Japan, the train ticket cost is calculated based on your start and end-station. So if you have this Suica card, you don’t have to check what ticket you have to buy every time. That saves a lot of time & effort! Plus, tickets cost a little less if you pay by Suica card. Plus, you can use this Suica card to pay at so many places, including vending machines, convenient stores, supermarkets, restaurants… Plus, most importantly, in my opinion, you can avoid all the little coins!
**Notes for the Suica card**
- Only charge an amount needed for 1-2 days. Don't charge lots of money to the card. In case you lose it, you won't lose lots of money.
- If you buy a card with your name on it, you can get it reissued in case you lose it. Make sure to have the same name as your passport.
- 500 yen is deposited to your card and you can get this money back when you return the card. Use up all your money in the card when you want to return it. that way you won't have to pay the return fee!
In short, from Haneda Airport International Terminal (Terminal 3) to Hamamatsucho Station (Tokyo center) by monorail:
- Time: 13 minutes (Rapid, no stops in between. Normal monorails take a few minutes longer)
- Cost: 200 yen/Adult, 100 yen/Child + ticket cost of JR train to your destination
====================================================
BEST CARD FOR TOURISTS:
====================================================
* If you're just visiting Japan for a short period of time,
consider the WELCOME SUICA card instead.
It's a Suica card that does NOT require deposit,
and good for 28 days.
** You can buy it at ticket vending machines at the airports,
or at JR Travel Service Centers in town. Credit cards are accepted.

Thank you!
Thank you for the excellent video with clear instructions. We head to Tokyo on Tuesday and this will help alleviate some of the stress trying to figure out where to go
Thank you!
This video was excellent. While I do really love visiting Japan, as a country 'boy' from Australia, it can be somewhat stressful for me when it comes to making the right decisions when it comes to which platform, directions and navigating the various entrances & exits to reach my destination.
Your video made the trip from Haneda to Tokyo appear all so easy, that I can relax now. Thank you.
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful!^^
Im in the exact same position mate, (also a "Country boy" from Australia), really really helpful video. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for explaining step by step.
I am travelling to Tokyo soon and this has helped me not be so anxious travelling alone. 🙏
thank you so much for watching!🙏

I know this is an old video, but I've just discovered your channel.. This is so good! I'm very grateful. I'm a little bit terrified about using the trains for my trip coming up at the end of March. This lined up exactly with what my NAVITIME app says. I was glad to see it in action.
Thanks! it's even easier to use in reality than it looks. plus Hamamatsucho is the final destination so you have plenty of time to get off the train.
Exactly the video I was looking for, as I'll be arriving at Haneda and staying at a hotel in Hamamutsucho! Very clear and concise information. Thank you!
Thank you!^^
Hi do you mind sharing what hotel will you be staying in Hamamutsucho? because i am now planning my stay in japan this june
@@ahmadfarid4101 Hi, look up "Hotel Tavinos Hamamutsucho"
I’m so happy I found this channel. I am going to Japan this year and I will be arriving at Haneda airpot and I was a little afraid to get the monorail because of the tranfer to go to Tokyo station but your video is great you take your time and gave me confidence that I need it. I’m going to watch other videos in your channel for more tips. Thank you. ❤❤
Glad you found it helpful! Thank you for watching!^^
Thank you very much. Its very helpful. Very good English pronunciation with precise and concise explanation.
thank you so much! 🙏
I want to give a big thanks to making this video❤ last week I had a 10hr layover in Japan and although I am very shy and anxious this video gave me all the info I needed to confidently get to tokyo station and explore a bit of Japan. From the bottom of my heart thabk you!!
thank you so much! 🙏 i'm so glad you were able to explore Tokyo! 🥰
where were you going after layover
@@varinderkaur4675 back home to Korea
Thank you! My hotel is near Shibuya, so it was very reassuring to see its name on the ticket machine.
Thank you so much for making such a wonderful video. I felt so relaxed after watching this information as I am going with my two kids🙏🙏🙏
Glad it was helpful! Thank you so much!
Thank you for clear and concise video. I will be visiting Tokyo in May and your video helps tremendously. Keep on dreaming.
Thank you too!
Planning on traveling in June & this vid will surely help us how to navigate the complexities of being a tourist lol- thanks a lot for this!
Thank you!^^
I will be going to Tokyo in 2 weeks and this video has given me the confidence to take the monorail and Jr line train to Shinjuku station. Thank you so much
thank you so much! if you go to Shinjuku, you can consider the Keikyu train too. it is a little bit faster.
If you're going to the Shinjuku area, there's also a limousine bus service that you can take, won't need to do as much walking around with any bags.
First trip to Tokyo next week, much thanks for this video!
Thank you so much! 🙏 please be noted that the blank Suica card i showed in this video is no longer available due to the current shortage in chips. you can buy the Welcome Suica card instead. there's a vending machine for welcome suica card (in red) at the same ticket corner.
here's how different they are: czcams.com/video/NfUZajhLkPs/video.html
basically the welcome suica card is like a suica card for visitors that is valid for 28 days and does not require a deposit. once you top up money onto the card, it's not refundable. so just top up little by little.
Thank you so much, this is exactly what I needed to know for my trip.
Glad it was helpful! Have a great trip! ^^
Wow. Just what I am looking for. Traveling to Tokyo next month. Thanks for your great video.

Just changed my airport arrival to Haneda. I love your videos and I hope you continuously inform us of these Japan travel tips. Love and support from Philippines 🇵🇭
thank you!
We are inexperienced international travelers and mistakenly chose Narita as our arrival airport. Was it complicated for you to make the change?
@@user-gd8tz2ok4i Even if you don't make the change, there are good transportation choices from Narita. It just takes longer to get to the centre of Tokyo.
I have been watching your videos. So useful and unstressful. You are great. Thank you!
Thank you!^^
Arrived yesterday and it took me like 15 minutes through all the way. Thank you very much.
Glad it helped! Thank you so much!🙏

Nicely done. This will be helpful for my upcoming trip to Haneda airport.
thank you!
Please be noted that the blank Suica card i showed in this video is no longer available, from June 8, 2023, due to the current shortage in chips. You can buy the Welcome Suica card instead. There's a vending machine of the Welcome Suica card (in red) at the same ticket corner of the monorail.
Here's how different the cards are: czcams.com/video/NfUZajhLkPs/video.html
Basically the Welcome Suica card is like a Suica card for visitors that is valid for 28 days and does not require a deposit. Once you top up money onto the card, it's not refundable. so just top up little by little. You can still buy a normal Suica card if you fill out your name. Or you can use the digital Suica card on your phone.
Or you could just use the JR Pass for this entire route no? If you have one?
@@steel148 yes, if you have the jr pass, you can use it on the monorail too.
I have noticed the Suica card now is working with Apple Pay this is very useful
Thanks for this video. Very helpful for tourists. I've now subscribed to your channel to find out more info for my next trip to Japan.

Excellent videos on your channel. I wished this was available before my lay over in Narita back in 2019 from Thailand back to California. My son and I had a nice afternoon anyway exploring Narita town and temple. I will save this for my next trip to Thailand with a long layover in Japan. Thank you!

@@ONEGOODDREAM Oh wow thank you, that would be PERFECT.
@@ONEGOODDREAM can you buy the welcome suitcase at Haneda Airport? I'm flying to Tokyo in January 😃
@@8989shopper yes, you can. there's a Welcome Suica card vending machine right at the Monorail station.
@@Dolphin-64 its true taking a bus could be less hassle but it’s good too that they get the hang of taking the subway and learn coz most of the time tourists will use subway to move around tokyo. the more experienced you get riding the subway and reading the signs the smoother your travel can be. but i would suggest for tourists to take advantage of 72 hr subway pass for $10 it will save you a lot of money you just need to have a good plan.
As always, thank you so much for another great and informative video 🙏 If possible, would love to see a video regarding the most convenient way for a trip between Tokyo Station and Kyoto Station by shinkansen. And have a wonderful day 🌹

I love the monorail its so convient as I was staying In Tamachi and just had to transfer at Hamamatsucho to local train , If anyone is flying to Japan try your hardest to get a flight to Haneda (Tokyo) and she is absolutely correct get Suica card its awesome can use it everywhere besides on public transport. You can even use it to buy food hehe.

Thanks! I'll be in Tokyo on 17 july. It will help me!
thank you so much! 🙏
This is very helpful. Thank you. For what it is worth, it is useful to hold onto the Suica card. I bought a Pasmo card (similar to Suica and it can be used in exactly the same way) that I first used in 2016, again in 2018, and I plan to use it a third time in 2023. I was able to use the Pasmo card in Kyoto and Osaka too and I believe that the Suica card can also be used in those cities too.
thank you so much for sharing!🙏 you're right, you can use Suica card in those cities and throughout Japan. so are other IC cards, since there's only one IC card network in Japan. and the normal ic cards (not the 28-day cards for tourists) have 10yrs validity since you last used it.
Very good!! Thanks so much!
Thank you so much!🙏
Thank you so much for the information. Greetings from Canada.

Thank you! I once had a layover at Haneda and would have used your advice if I had known at the time to get into Tokyo center. The JR Line 2 versus Line 1 would have been confusing without your video since both showed Tokyo on their Blue and Green signs for L1 and L2.

Overall excellent guide. I'm currently in Haneda Airport right now, one thing I would point out is that the exchange rate from the exchange currency counter is a lot better than the exchange rate vending machine. I got 131 yen for 1 usd from the counter, whereas it's 123 yen for 1 usd dollar from the vending machine. ❤
